Neff steam oven reliability? easy fix if I had known – Recently had a Neff steam wall oven installed 6 weeks ago and it has worked perfectly until undertaking it's first descaling operation. During the first rinse cycle the oven stopped working and displayed an error code and instructed me to press the power button to retry. During the retry the oven pumped water out over the floor and cupboards and now has become practically useless. I have discovered that the descale process cannot be "interrupted" and as a result no other function on the oven is available to me, even if I turn it off and on again the oven returns to the point just prior to the error message. The descale process cannot be overridden to allow me to use the oven in any way. Following this I contacted NEFF customer service, which operates 24/7 and they were very helpful arranging a call to me from a repair technician within two hours. This is a very good service however this is where my next problem started. The technician indicated that they could not attend for 9 days and if the oven required a part it would take up to 14 days to obtain the part IF it is in Australia and 4 weeks if it had to be sent from Germany. There would also be a waiting time for the technician to attend once the part had arrived. My experience with the oven up until now has been a joy and it does exactly what it says it will do and does it very well but the downtime I experienced was unnecessary The technician who attended gave an easy fix. Please read my response to this review for details.

A FOLLOW UP ON MY REVIEW. Following a visit from the technician arranged by NEFF customer service the oven is now in perfect working order. Apparently the water sensors during the descale process are very "sensitive". I had set the water hardness correctly for where I live, which is very soft, and the sensors had a problem with that during the descaling process but not during normal cooking. The technician used pure bottled water from the supermarket and the oven completed the descaling process with no problems. The technicians advice was to USE BOTTLED WATER DURING DESCALING. This is NOT in the product manual but it works. Please keep this in mind if you are in an area with soft water. A SIMPLE FIX IF I HAD KNOWN, THEREFORE 5 STARS FOR THE PRODUCT AS IT COOKS BEAUTIFULLY.
