Slide in door – Great oven. Cooks evenly and well. Only downsides are the small size of the European oven and when you open the door while cooking, a lot of steam comes out. Cleaning is by steam and works reasonably well. The safety of the slide in door is fantastic and means you have easy access to shelves and cookware.

Not good – It cooks great, but, and this is a massive but. We spend way too much time running the 'Eco clean'. At least once a week we have to take all the side brackets and shelving out as the software FORCES you to run it. We've talked to Neff several times and have just been told 'this is normal'. Who cleans their oven every week? Not everyone gets this issue apparently, so they say, but if you do, you're out of luck as it's 'normal'.

Taking those side brackets out is not easy, nor quick, it's like Jenga. And don't dare scratch the sides, which are covered with some 'special surface' that scratches with a finger nail, let alone Jenga-like metal fittings that have to be pushed a special way otherwise they don't come out/or back in. Scratched all over after just a few goes. See if they'll let you (not them) practice on their showroom model and watch them blanch. There's no leeway for learning.

After cleaning up in a busy family household, feeding kids, bed time, washing dishes, the last thing you feel like doing is cleaning the oven. Again. And again. Seriously, and it doesn't even look dirty after cooking anyway. And the one time we cooked a roast chicken, as per instructions, and there were splashes of fat on the side. They didn't come off with the 'eco clean', and you've no other way to clean it because of the 'special coating'. Hopeless, and a massive waste of our time. We feel trapped with an expensive appliance that makes our lives harder. Not easier. And don't get me started on the electricity the weekly Eco clean uses at several hundred degrees for an hour. About as Eco as whale meat.
