Next Level Racing F-GT Lite

Collapses – In one of the formula positions the adjustment hub at the right hand hip point fails and the cockpit collapses with me in it. This happened on my first one and on the replacement I was sent. Same exact fault on both cockpits, right down to the same element in the adjustment hub failing. Rig has been assembled and tightened correctly but a gap appears in the hub and the hub elements slip past each other with the cockpit collapsing to the floor. Pagnian were the retailer only and are not responsible for the fault of the manufacturer, they've been fantastic throughout the whole process.
Purchased in at Pagnian Imports for $499.
Simple, yet an immersive experience on a budget! – I have been racing online for many years, starting with the original "Formula Force" Logitech wheel from 1998!! My racing wheels were just strapped to my desk, zipping around blissfully in my computer chair. From the old games of TOCA2, Sportscar GT, Need for Speed (x) and Colin McRae Rally to the more recent offerings of Project Cars 1 & 2, AC, Dirt Rally & iRacing. I like racing different diciplines, and have been dreaming of a simulation cockpit for as long as I can remember, however my house is not large enough to cater for all my wanted toys. This 'lawn chair' style of simulation seat allows me to switch between touring cars and F1 within a minute, which technically saves space by only needing one cockpit for all my play styles. The quick release cams, and chunky friction-lock teeth on all the joints makes this a solid cockpit no matter what angle you lock the seat into.
PRO's: * It comes 95% assembled. You just need to put the pedal section on, as well as the wheel deck bars. Bolt in your wheel, pedals and shifter and that's it! * 20kg unloaded makes it rigid enough for curious kids. * I'm 180cm tall and 100kg. My head reaches the embossed seat text and my shoulders are still within the frame. I don't feel any screws or bars on my body anywhere. The chair doesn't groan or squeak during sessions either. Great build quality. * Collapses down WITH your electrics in place. This adds to the weight by almost double. Although portable, it's still quite heavy at about 40kg fully loaded. IMO, it folds down smaller than most of the infomercial gym kits!! * Switch between F1 and GT seating within on minute, using the 6x cam lock releases. * Put your gear shifter in RHD or LHD mode. Your choice. I prefer the Aussie standard of the shifter on my left. * When coupled with a Vive headset, it is EASY to forget that you are not in a computer game. * I have been teaching my daughter how to drive a manual with this setup and the VR headset. Fully immersive, and you HAVE to use your instincts without looking, as you cannot see your real hands and feet :). Muscle memory has helped her starting and gear changing, without the fear of dying in a horrific wreck. Next year when she applies for her L plates, I feel she will be a very confident driver because of 100% SIM mode gaming.
CON's: * The fine mesh doesn't offer much backside grip, so you might slide forward during some racing moments. I might just get a cheap seat cover and pad up the bottom to try and combat this. * I feel the fabric might not stand the test of time as it is very thin looking.
Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this cockpit to anyone who wants to race in an amateur online league. Coupled with the Logitech G29 and 6 speed shifter, there isn't much that you cannot drive in this setup, and fully kitted will be still cheaper than some of the other cockpits alone.
