The SIL team at my mother’s residence transitioned to Nurse Next Door with what initially appeared to be strong promise. The organisation presented as experienced and assured us of high standards of care, including oversight from registered nurses. Unfortunately, our experience since the transition has been consistently disappointing. There has… Read more

been an extremely high turnover of staff across all levels, including support workers, registered nurses, team leaders, and senior management. This lack of continuity makes it very difficult to maintain accountability or ensure consistent standards of care.

We have experienced several serious issues, including a critical medication error where my mother was administered another resident’s full Webster pack for the evening (approximately 10 medications). This resulted in her being hospitalised for several days while doctors worked to stabilise her condition. This incident alone raises significant concerns regarding medication management and supervision.

Additional concerns include staff sleeping during active overnight shifts, inadequate training for SIL staff caring for high-needs residents, and a culture where responsibility appears to be placed on frontline staff rather than addressed at a management level. Essential equipment has also been allowed to go uncharged, preventing safe transfers for multiple residents.

From a day-to-day care perspective, there have been ongoing issues with basic household management, including failure to maintain adequate groceries and improper food rotation, resulting in spoiled items being left unused. My mother relies on 24/7 care and they have left her in the past waiting to go to bed till 10:30pm, dinner late when shes hungry, left waiting to go to the toilet etc.

Overall, the service has required an unreasonable level of oversight from family members, which is particularly challenging when not living on-site. Based on our experience, the level of care and professionalism has not been close to meeting our expectations, and I would strongly encourage others to carefully consider their options.

Stay away! Through a business connection I was advised to contact NND as my mother was approved for a Home Care Package and was told how wonderful they are. Nope. It was very clear from the outset that all NND 'cared' about was how much money they could leverage and although the alarm bells were ringing we thought we'd give them a try in the hope… Read more

we were being paranoid. Shocking tardiness of their employees followed up by woeful interactions with my mother. We even went as far to record on video the in home experience and it just made us furious! Raising this with NND just to get fobbed off repeatedly and even when some clown who pretended to be all "nicey-nicey I'm on your side" was just a snake, their operations manager, who documented our issues and ended up sending a turd of an email in response a week later. Avoid, their pink st*nks.

Don’t communicate with yourself and don’t communicate with staff. I’m a quadriplegic and they have left me with no one 3 times in 4 months. In short I wouldn’t recommend signing up with this company. They don’t care and don’t ring you to let you know that they don’t have someone to do shift. They cause unnecessary stress and anxiety. Show details

Wage theft don't pay the right award . Staff have all responsibilities. While these franchisees pay you the home cares rate. Which is for cleaning and cooking . Shame on you

I have had excellent experience working alongside Nurse Next Door with several participants. Their team is professional, compassionate, and genuinely dedicated to providing high-quality care. From the beginning, they have taken the time to understand individual needs and tailored their support accordingly. The nurses and support workers / care… Read more

givers are highly skilled, reliable, and always approach their work with kindness and respect. Communication is seamless, and they ensure both the participant and their family feel heard and supported. Their commitment to person-centered care truly sets them apart.

I highly recommend Nurse Next Door to anyone looking for dependable and professional nursing and care support for their clients or loved ones.

Mr and Mrs Beans – Unprofessional, intrusive, and no respect for patients's privacy, not recommended.

Zero or minus stars based on my experience – Failure of client duty of care. Ignores and neglects reasonable client needs/requests. Staff are intrusive - 3 people will show up on your doorstep every time you have a new worker 1 who's caring for you and 2 to police them. Staff are opinionated. Staff are judgemental and write derogatory comments when recording shift notes which aren't 100%… Read more

factual. Staff write false reports and record private conversations and phone calls of clients to later distort facts to report in their notes. Staff and management refuse to apologise for slights and wrongs to clients when clients or family members make complaints. Staff were regularly late to shifts (10+ minutes or more) but if staff turned up 1 minute early, they blamed the client for running late in their notes which wasn't true. Management take offence to the client saying anything negative about their business or the way staff treat clients. Staff file false DV police reports and assault allegations against clients with special needs (autism) and their carer with disabilities when they try to stick up for themselves or have a meltdown when NND neglect their duty of care! Petty. Petty. Petty. For 'nurses', they're a sandwich short of a picnic and don't understand how to handle autistic clients or people that are hurt. They're quick to label everything as abuse, even if you raise your voice because they don't listen and you have to repeat yourself over and over which is frustrating. They're absolutely clueless. Escalation of complaints fall on deaf ears where company refuses to respond. You have the right to complain, but you have no right to complain is the message their actions convey the way their system treats clients. I've basically got nothing positive to say now about NND and I'm pretty sure their retaliation won't stop with police showing up on my door step with more false allegations when I share how bad our experiences with them have been. I do not recommend this brand or service in Batemans Bay or anywhere in Australia. They're totally clueless. I just wish we read reviews before signing up with them. I would never have put our family through this nightmare.

Be FAIR …. What goes around, comes around – Why there isn’t a NEGATIVE score or even ZERO (0) rating? I really don’t know how [Name Removed] could give them a rating of 5/5 two months ago !?!? then I figured out the possible reasons: 1/ [Name Removed] must be a “relative” of the founder of this LOUSY business so she was putting in a “nice’ review to help boost their business image and… Read more

therefore Company’s survival and growth !! 2/ Or [Name Removed] is 1 of those who gets a HUGE Government package for what ever condition she had. I say that because my condition is what the neurologists termed as “Residual Chronic Right Sided Hemiparesis” (a lesser version of Hemiplegia)AND I get a very tiny funded NDIS amount to help me survive daily. READ on down below if you wish to know why …. 3/ Or this Company was the best of the worse provided in Cairns !!!

I moved around a Community housing Unit in a wheelchair so I DESPERATELY NEED a support worker at least 3 times a week to help with basic house work like washing the dishes or chopping up vegetables for my cooking. If you (right hand dominant) could tie your right hand around your back then try to do dish washing or even chop up an apple then you can sympathise with the 100 challenges I face daily since my 2nd stroke in June 2018 (1st one in January 2018) but life goes on

I did researches then call Nurse Next Door because of their impressive ad during the US tennis Open but like 3 of the 4 people who care to write some review before me : Nurse next door is a lot WORSE than PATHETIC.

The first thing I was asked was : “Do you have any Government packages? That straight away told me they opened the business to get a BIG BITE of THE CHERRY (Government Funded Packages) that other Aged or Disability care Company aimed for (and some got busted for being too greedy)

The next thing their female employee said to me was THE MOST EXTRAORDINARY thing I heard in 44 years in Australia : They will CHARGE ME MORE THAN $82 hourly for services provided. They have the right to name their prices (in the new world of Supply and Demand) but what shocked me was when I said to the lady “I saw around $38-39 hourly for Support Worker on your website”, the shocking reply to me was “Oh, that the hourly rate we pay our Support staff” What ?? Simple maths would show they pay their workers LESS THAN 48% of what they charge the clients !!! They RETAIN MORE THAN 52% for a few administrative work here and there !!!! This is AUSTRALIA. Our National Anthem is …. ADVANCE AUSTRALIA FAIR …. isn’t it. Come on workers, ditch them to find other fairer job with fairer pay. I run a Dental Surgery near Liverpool (2013 to 2021) and I paid all Locum Dentist 60% of the income they made. Fair ?

I hung up the phone after hearing their price …. But believe me there are set-up Aged and Disabled care Companies ONLY deal with Aged care ó NDIS packages …. Clients ONLY. They told me over the phone BLATANTLY …. without SHAME or human decency

[Name Removed] above probably receiving a huge Government package and wouldn’t mind splashing the so called “FREE MONEY” !!!! Come on, it’s Tax payers money. I paid tax for 38 years so I value it.

Stay away from Nurse Next Door as you only make them rich immorally …. PLEASE ….

Untrained and Unacceptable – I agree with another review here. Too many of Nurse Next Door carers have no experience and are just doing the job as a fill in until they find something better. One carer told me she was interviewed in a telephone call then asked to pick up a shirt from the office the next day, then she started work the same night with no training. This is not Australian aged care as intended.

5 stars for Nurse Next Door – I was the very first client of Nurse Next Door in Cairns and have been extremely pleased with the care and genuine friendliness that has been shown to me. I have a nurse twice a week and support worker three times a week and nothing is too much trouble, and I am extremely happy.

Minus One Star For Abusive Carers – Unqualified, no police checks, ditzy and abusive. That's the only way to describe a host of carers sent to me from Nurse next Door. The franchise owner is not much better having being totally dismissive of any concerns of abuse by the carers and the head office did not even follow up or contact me after making a complaint. The one star rating is the minimum I can leave, honestly, I should be able to leave a minus one star.
