Olivia Sanitary Pads Ultra Thin – I have been a fan of the Olivia brand sanitary pads since I started shopping at Aldi. I have always purchased the Ultra thin ones with wings even though I have a heavy flow and they have always been excellent and I have never had any leaks, that is until recently when they decided to change them and have made them half the thickness of the… Read more

original ones. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried them, but the first 'gush' that I experienced, which means I only had the pad on for 5 minutes, and my underpants and shorts were covered in blood. It was extremely lucky that I was at home. Very disappointed as now I have to find another brand and it also means that I will now have to go to Coles or Woolworths as well as Aldi, which I haven't done in years. I was able to get everything that I needed solely from Aldi up till this happened. Nearly forgot to mention too, the price has gone up by 20 cents and you get 2 less pads as well. Olivia and Aldi, don't "fix" something that isn't broken.

Old one was good, new one caused bad irritation – I've been using Olivia Ultra Thin pads from ALDI for years. I would buy a few packs at once and not worry about running out of them for a while. It was a great product, better then many brands. Until recent change. Couple weeks ago I discovered there's now New Look Olivia. Surprise was, it was different product, not new look package. First… Read more

thing I noticed was they are thinner than the old ones and fold up in the centre at the back, making it uncomfortable to wear, it's just up there all the time. I didn't have this issue with old ones.

They don't breathe even though package says Breathable, which isn't great on a hot summer day. And they make noise when you walk, which old ones didn't do.

Looks like ALDI decided to cut costs of the production by using cheaper ingredients. But sell it at the same price as good old Olivia.

But the real issue was I noticed a bit of discomfort where pad sits closest to the vulva, and it turned into burning sensation in a couple of days. With every step I could feel pad rubbing against my skin, it was painful. Wondering what could be wrong, I got a look in the mirror and saw red raw skin, and I mean bright red! Literally my jaw dropped and I was left speechless, but not for long.

I was already in pain, but now I was also in shock! My vulva looked like it got cooked. It resembled the worst sun burn a person can get. I immediately discontinued use of Olivia New Look and had to think how to treat the affected area. In another couple of days the skin started peeling off, just like after a bad sun burn.

Thanks ALDI! Guys you've achieved great results at cutting costs at the price of women's health.

Let me guess, what is it that you are using now as cheaper substitutes for old good ingredients: is it rougher surface cover that causes chaffing, is it absorbent core full of chemicals that cause skin irritation, or is it cheaper glue that's not very skin-friendly? Maybe it's all of the above?

This product is not good enough. Bring back the old Olivia!

A whole week after I discontinued using Olivia Ultra Thin New Look pads, my vulva is still remains red and sore ( not as bad as before though), and flakes of dead skin still coming off. I'm concerned now about how serious it is, and whether I should see a doctor.

Dear ALDI, do you think I'll buy your pads ever again? That's right, I won't.

And the lady below is right, once women have to buy pads elsewhere, they'll do the whole shopping there.

I wonder how many more women got similar kind of skin reaction to new pads but don't feel comfortable writing a review about it simply because they are still uncomfortable talking about their periods.

I’ve changed brands – Sorry Aldi, you got this change wrong. When I opened the packet I thought I’d made a mistake and grabbed the thicker ones. These are not thin, they bunch up, and feel uncomfortable. I’ve changed brands now as I can’t stand the feeling of these. The reviews here are just the tip of the iceberg so I imagine a lot of women are changing to other… Read more

brands. If we have to go to another shop to buy our pads, then we’ll buy other products while we’re there instead of Aldi.

They ruined a great product – I used to swear by this product, affordable and worked really well. Since they've been changed recently they're no longer ultra thin, but bulky and bunch up and dont stay in place properly. They're noisy like I'm wearing a nappy and I got a terrible chafe rash which was extremely painful.

Please fix this mistake!! – I totally agree with all the opinions on this site, before the change this product was my go to! But since the product has been altered I've been seeking an alternative with nothing as good as the original! The new product is ill-fitting and whatever they put in them bunches horribly! The original product was the only one I could find that I… Read more

didn't have this issue with. Really rubbish product! Make a change for the better and bring back the original product.

Why the change???? – The new look Olivia pads are terrible. The older ones were the best and were way better than than the expensive brands. BUT, now that you have changed them they are shocking. Fall apart, bulky, sticky to your private bits and develop a smell. They are really shocking. You shouldn’t have changed what didn’t need changing. They remind me of the cheap and nasty brands. Highly disappointed.

Terrible new product – The Olivia Ultra Thin Pad has been a go to product. Recent changes to "packaging" are misleading - the whole product has changed. Bulky, shorter - causing leakage and less capacity. Uncomfortable and not reliable.

Worst change ever – I used to get the ultra thin night pads, they were thin and you didn't feel like you were wearing any, but you knew that you were covered. Now they got new ultra thin which is not thin, it feels like going around with a nappy, constantly feeling you got it on. they are uncomfortable and fall apart. Why change something that was perfect to… Read more

Nasty and not thin – I noticed the pads had changed packaging, still supposed to be ultra thin so bought as I have good faith in Aldi products; Not anymore, these pads are terrible; bulky and they fall apart, nothing like the old ones. Wonder why they changed? I'm betting they will take these off the market as anyone who buys will never buy again. like me.

Terrible - why change them?? – I have a child with special needs and after trying every brand possible, Olivia was the only brand that would stay in place and not cause embarrassing leakage for her. I was even recommending the products to people who have special needs who I work with.........Then you changed the packaging and the product!!! I now have a girl too scared to go to… Read more

school for fear of leaking everywhere and I was up in the middle of the night helping her have a shower and wash and change bed linen. We travelled over 100km to the nearest Aldi store for what was once a fantastic product. Will not be buying again, and will now be off work until my daughter's period has finished. Really not happy at all!

Why change it? – The product before the change was perfect. They were comfortable, breathable and they stayed in their original shape for the entire day/ night. The "new look" product is terrible. They are now bulky and uncomfortable. The cotton separates from the backing and clumps up as well. Not only this, but they are also now loud and make a noise when… Read more

walking which the old ones didn't do. Why the unnecessary change for something that was perfect before? I didn't purchase Libra pads before because of these issues but now Olivia pads are exactly the same. Terrible!!

New look...yeh right! – Absolutely disgusted! Why change something that isnt broken! So uncomfortable, not breathable, way too thick for regular not ultra thins at all. Horrible horrible horrible change. Should not have changed something that didnt need to be changed. Will now buy elsewhere.

New Look, Now Awful Pads. WHY DID YOU CHANGE THEM? – WHY DID YOU CHANGE THEM? I have used Olivia pads for years and the recent "new look" ones are awful. I had to buy Libra pads a few months ago and the new Olivia pads are exactly the same as them, Terrible. They are thick and separate from the lining and clump like a cheap nappy. They bunch up your crack in an uncomfortable wedgie. instead of lasting all day they only stay in shape for an hor or two. WHY DID YOU CHANGE THEM?

Used to like them before they changed – I don’t know if it’s just a faulty batch or the supplier has changed the product, but they are thinner then they used to be, and easily tearable. Loved the older product. Was comfortable and worked. The recent one I got, broke apart when opening the packet. The ones that dont break often have the adhesive tape on the upper side of the pad due to a… Read more

Cheap but amazing! – I've been usind Aldi sanitary pads for the last 2 years, and oh my!!! They're amazing! You can get 3 packets with the cost of other branded ones. Works just as well as any pad. It's unscented which could be a bummer for some people but I heard unscented pads are more safe (not sure if true) ! I haven't experienced leakage once in this 2yrs and I'm a girl with very heavy flow.
