Cant get Service or too expensive – I have this air con its about 5 years old. It worked really well and the only problem I had was it kept asking for water to be put in when on cooling mode. Then the other day it just stopped working. I left it for a few hours thinking that it might have overheated (it was a 40 degree day). When I turned it on after a few hours it works but no air… Read more
blows out at all. I rang at least 10 air con repair companies and tradies but no one repairs these portable things. I rang Omega Altise and I can take it to their Wetherill Park site (which is impossible as I don't have a car) or they can come out. Service fee is $176 including 15 minutes of service then $22 for every 10 minutes after that! So that's $132 for an hour, plus parts. So you're looking at $176 plus say 1 hour labour $132 plus say $50 parts. Total $358. I can buy a new one for $350 - $400. Its a rip off. Plus they were all booked out for the next week and a half. Both of these issues say a lot for portable air conditioners in general that I couldn't find a single air conditioning company that would repair them and that their service dept was swamped with repairs!

Good unit when it works, but Unreliable – First one blew up after a month, took 8 weeks before they finally replaced the whole thing. This one has lasted very nicely for 4 years, but on Xmas day, it has failed once more. Tried calling the service centre, they have their 2012 Xmas message on! Speaks volumes for the product I feel, good in theory, but lack of attention to quality. … Read more
Hoping I can get this repaired without too much expense, but I suspect not.
It does work and help cool in temps well over 30C, no idea why people think it doesn't, but hardly going to get any medium sized room down to 20C! When it works, it a really good unit, cools and heats very well.
It's very noisy, but I think they all are in this portable style.
I had to make a raised trolley on wheels for it, made emptying the water a lot better!! [censored word removed] design there.
Their current models look like a white [censored word removed] 70's robot. Yuck. Mind you I don't think I'll be buying this brand again anyway. Pity though that all the brands doing this kind of device seem cheap and nasty or also plagued with reports of unreliability and poor after sales service (e.g LG & DeLonghi).
I would assume that 4 years is a bit early for something like this to fail. (again) Good Cooling and Heating performance. Looks OK. Unreliable. Poor water drainage plug location.
Good – It suited my need and cooled off a pretty large room (have an open plan living room/kitchen). Had it over 4 yrs. it is pretty noisy but not unbearable. i hardly have to empty water. though now i seem to have to everyday. The tube locator to empty water is not practical. Very cool Lasted for 4 years without any problems. Now the water need emptying more often
Warranty issues – Main circuit is broken. Took a month for good guys to find a repairer. The repaired couldn't locate the spare parts and requires to import from overseas. it took more than 2 weeks to repair. but, After it's repaired the circuit is broken again within 15 mins of use. I will not buy again. Expensive, warranty issues
Is the unit within the 2 year factory warranty? Or are you using an extended warranty on top of the… Read more (+2 replies)
Bad – I'm glad of the coolong ability (when it works), but the reliability issues mean I wouldn't buy another one or recommend it. Cools well; Looks nice Reliability is poor - warranty repair after 2 months, and again after 15 months. Still waiting for agent to get the parts for this second repair - needs a new main circuit board as well as a sensor replaced.
OK – We bought this aircon as the townhouse we're renting doesn't have one mainly for the use upstairs as it gets very hot under a non-insulated roof. It does the job ok but not for the money you pay for it. However when you're renting the choices are limited. It cools our bedroom plus our baby's bedroom when positioned correctly and with the use of… Read more
fans. Water draining is a bit of a problem as the outlet is too low and it doesn't come with a tray designed specifically for it, so we had to use one of the baking trays but its not shallow enough. In the end we had to wheel it to the top of the stairs and drain the water out that way. Thank God it has wheels because the damn thing is so heavy!! The unit is also quite large so really does stick out like a sore thumb. It comes with a window fitting kit but that also requires creativity and some duct tape. Overall there are too many design faults for the $ 1000 you pay for it. Unfortunately not sure there is anything much better out there. We did our research quite thoroughly and that was one of the best ones according to reviews we've read(not on this site) :-( Cools the area effectively stated in the product description but only under 35 degree days Noisy, especially at night. Water drainage outlet too low. Little value for money.Very big. Window fittings require some creative interpretation.
OK – Has been quite effective for this summer season, and I'll soon put it into storage for next season. Obviously can get around the noise problem by turning up the TV volume a bit, and the watering can means fewer refills. The lower drain pan is a silly design fault, but will get around that next season by elevating the castors of the unit on a… Read more
couple of planks. An effective cooler for the living/dining area. Doesn't take up a lot of space, and easily rolled away and stored for the cooler months. (only have the cooling mode machine as I have gas central heating) A little noisy, but all these type units are. In this climate it tends to use a lot of water recommended for efficient cooling - got sick of frequently using an empty lemonade bottle for recommended 1800 litre top-up and filled it in one go with a 9 litre watering can. Water drain for lower collection pan is too low, you can't put a drain pan under it and it wets the carpet if you try to move the unit when drain pan is full.
