Worth every cent – Brought this at Bunnings, fantastic machine, hard-working and reliable. Used it to cut down Golden canes up to 6m high and palms over 50 and up to 100mm thick. Can't recommend this product enough. Show details
Very good for small DIY use – This is my 2nd small chain saw from Ozito. I only replaced my old one as the chain wore down....so for a few dollars more bought a new unit!! This new version is easier to tighten and clean out the guard that gets clogged. This alone should be more than enough reason to buy the new one when the chain dies. I abused both of them. Pushing them… Read more
into roots in dirt to cut roots of Palm trees......had to sharpen heaps. If you use a chain saw...25% of your time should be re-sharpening the blade. You need to re-sharpen after less than half dozen cuts. How you sharpen will be up to you. I used a stone and dremel to edge the teeth. I dont have problem with oil leaking as I empty it back into a bottle.....its meant to leak out!!. If I cant be bothered to empty it. Just lay it on its side...oil bottle facing up!....A great unit.....wish they supplied cheap chains!?!?
Excellent for the money – This chainsaw is a great buy at approx. $100. Have used it to cut through tree trunks up to 200mm in diam. including gum and acacia without issue but let the saw do the work without using too much pressure. Works best on green wood, if you need to cut dry or dead wood then buy a petrol powered saw. Oiling mechanism works well, as someone else… Read more
mentioned fill the oil reservoir slowly and you won't have any problems. Even though the chain does occasionally come off the bar it's easy to refit and usually only happens because the chain tension has slackened off.
Chain won't stay on the drive sprocket, inadequate chain guides and tensioner mechanism – I had a dark green Ozito 1800 watt electric chainsaw (14" / 355mm bar) from 2008 until it finally stopped working a couple of months ago, and it was a fantastic product. The chain oiler was a bit crude and it used to go through a lot of oil, but it just went and went and went. I used it for everything from pruning shrubs to chopping down large… Read more
palms and medium sized trees, and given regular cleaning, teeth sharpening and a new chain every 3 years or so, it was an amazing product for the $99 I paid for it in 2008.
I decided to buy a new 2200 watt Ozito with a 16" bar and sadly it's nowhere near as good.
The new-design quick tension adjuster doesn't keep the chain tensioned for very long, and while the flat blade screwdriver adjuster on the older series took longer to adjust, it actually worked.
The chain guides on the new ECS-406A are also inferior, and the chain will move to the right and jam against the housing after a couple of minutes use. I'm currently in the process of getting a refund and will try another brand.
Remedy, filling the oil reservoir, – I had a problem not being able to get the oil IN to the oil reservoir. the answer is simple: because of the oil viscosity the air in the reservoir can not get out when you fill to fast. FILL IT VERY, VERY,SLOWLY. You will see the level in the reservoir. Anthonie Schutte WESTERN AUSTRALIA Show details
Corded chain saw did a great job in awkward tree demolition – Was trying a number of options to clear large shrubs and trees from my yard. The job was awkward with large underground root systems unable to be dealt with by my sabre saw, axes and hand tools. Found this unit very reliable, did the job well in confined spaces, almost no kickback and handling easy and very quick. The only issue I found was that… Read more
oil usage on the chain bar was a little higher than expected which could be due to the fact that the tree roots were very tough and large and the weather quite hot. The oil tank was easy to fill and chain removal for cleaning due to dirt build up was also not a chore. The unit performed much better than expected and has now been consigned to the shed for next time. It has a 3 year replacement warrantee through Bunnings so that was a plus and the price was $139 so it was much cheaper than getting in a tree arborist to do the job. Very happy with results
