The cover makes this board useless – The cover was clearly designed so that if it is ever removed you need to throw out the entire board with it. It is absolutely impossible to put on, I can't understand how they ever got this to market. May be I just got one that had a cover ever so slightly too small but this is an ironing board - it shouldn't be hard to get right.
Lasted 2 months – The ironing board wings lasted 2 months before the springs broke and the cover has lasted 6 months. The cover never really fit or stayed on. I really like the extra side plate to sit my steam iron on. Overall disappointing.

Unusual ironing board – I bought this board because I needed a new iron and had bought a philips perfect care elite plus steam generator. This seems to be the only ironing board that is available to support the weight and size of a steam generator on the board it`s self. The board is wider than some and quite sturdy. The little wings are quite a good idea - although on… Read more · 1
fine fabrics it does not quite work - as it can create a line between the board and these wings. It seems no heavier than other ironing boards of it`s size. I did have a couple of issues initially (1) one of the wings kept coming off. (2) the legs were uneven and the board rocked on the wood floor . -- so third time lucky and I am very pleased with this board. I feel quite happy putting my generator on it... And having so many different height adjustments means you could even sit whilst ironing. It also has an area for hanging shirts
I love it – I read many reviews on many ironing boards before I decided to try this one and I was going in slightly unconvinced as many reviews for this particular board weren’t very positive, but so far I am more than happy with my purchase. First thing you’ll notice is the size. This thing is mammoth. I read this before but I wasnt quite prepared for… Read more · 2
just HOW large it is. Admittedly, my husband purchased our last board in an emergency situation when our 2yo son broke our ironing board by jumping on it while it was collapsed, when I send my husband out to buy anything he is coming back with the cheapest version of whatever it is. Since we didn’t iron much at the time it wasn’t really a problem that he came home with a $15 ironing board that seemed basic yet capable. It was almost as long as this board yet it was somehow only half as wide, it was also incredibly light but since we have a spare room where the ironing board usually remains ready for use, weight is not an issue.
When my husband started a new position which required wearing business shirts every day I was in hell! Firstly we got a new iron, (If you’re curious you may read my other review on philips perfectcare performer iron which goes perfectly well with this board) and although the new iron made a good difference in the time it took to iron a shirt, there was still the problem of this tiny board with its super thin padding, when I ironed anything, the metal mesh under the padding would show through and leave a pattern ironed into his shirt. Completely unacceptable for a manager to go around dressed with tiny diamonds embossed into his shirt! I decided that I’d find another ironing board but now that I was ironing pretty much every day (a chore that I absolutely LOATHED mind you) I was going to make sure that it made life easier.
As soon as I saw this board I was in love. Of course the first place I came was HERE to check my fellow reviewers thoughts on it. I’ll admit that I was disappointed by some of them and several times during my deliberations I decided against purchasing this board, but in the back of my mind I always WANTED to. It was the wings that sold me, that and the look of it. It matched my iron so well and the cover (the white one anyway) was so attractive to me! I’ll admit thats shallow but I am a person who loves to have beautiful things! So sue me! In the end, when I saw it in person, the sheer mamoth size of it, I simply could not resist it.
I’ve used it for about a week now and have had no problems what so ever. But IF I were unable to keep it in its open and ready position I might not be so pleased as this is a HEAVY and huge board, its just about as tall as me and it feels like it might weigh the same too (ok ok I wish - but feels like!) when you dont have to move it the weight isnt an issue, I knew that I wouldn’t have to move it when I got it.
I LOVE the big blue bay that holds the iron, it just fits my philips steam station so perfectly, like they were made for eachother (ha, they probably were) but the main joy for me has been ironing with this HUGE WIDE SURFACE area, I ironed my sons quilt cover yesterday in 5 minutes. It was bliss. I have also found the wings to be just perfect for business shirts, yet they fold out of the way of you dont need them. So far the only negative has been that my 11 year old daughters T-shirts are just a tiny bit too narrow to fit over the wide board and I need to iron them without slipping them over the end even with the wings collapsed (as in they need to lie on the board flat whilst I iron both sides at once) but this isnt a problem as she usually wears t-shirts that I wouldn’t even iron often most the time.
The other thing that I’m especially pleased with is how well the aquablock cover works. One of the other reviewers wrote about the water going through and rusting away at her board. I’m wondering if she changed the cover perhaps? This board comes with a special cover that blocks water from dripping through and I used to have such a big problem with that on my old board, but since getting this new one I’ve not had a single drip on the floor. It’s absolutely perfect. I understand that maybe it might wear out in time? Hopefully not, but if it does I know that I can buy another aquablock cover and continue ironing in drip-free bliss.
Overall I’m extremely happy with this board and I’m glad I gave it a go even though I was so unsure. This combined with the new iron I purchased recently has made ironing go from a chore that I despised to one that I am actually enjoying.
Don’t bother calling or emailing customer services for a solution – I bought this ironing board with the expectation that it would be above and beyond any other ironing board I have had in the past (paid around $180.00 for it). The metal mesh underneath the board has rusted and corroded and I now have a dinner plate sized hole in the board. I brought this to the attention of Philips and they offered me a new… Read more
board at a discount price…they knocked $21.38 off *why thank you for the gesture of good will*
I have been utterly appalled by the trail of emails and will never buy another Philips product again.
Reading the other reviews, I can see that I am not the only one with this issue, it is obviously a quality issue and these issues need to be addressed without the customer having to suffer in the meantime.
Do not buy this ironing board.
Poor design & so expensive.

I love the board, but hate the cover – This is the first ironing board in the world that caters to quilt makers. At last I could iron the full width of a large piece of fabric without having to be a contortionist, and the wings fold out of the way when I'm finished. My only peeve is the cover: why don't Philips send it back to the drawing board and make a cover that actually FITS. … Read more
I just washed mine (which I rarely do because it is so very difficult to re-attach to the board) and as usual I'm left with a lumpy mess that doesn't lay flat even after I stretched it to death trying to make it fit on the board. Its a real shame as the ironing board frame is strong and sturdy. Yes, after several years of use, I noticed rust appearing on the metal mesh so the paint used on it needs improving. I have a standard steam iron so dripping water is not an issue, and the table is useful for holding scissors and other sewing items. The board stays up 90% of the time so the height adjuster being on the wrong side is not an issue for me.
Overall, I love this ironing board, but PLEASE re-design the cover.

Extremely disappointing – Water Condensation means that water drips, clothes get wet spots and the centre of the board had gone rusty and split. Covers are too thin, so clothes end up marked and the covers tear too easily. Drawstring is useless so the cover moves and causes creases in clothes. Wings for sleeves catch clothes. Big mistake.

Why are the Ironing board covers so bad – We are now onto our fourth ironing board cover in less than two years, the felt keeps gathering underneath the cover The string used to tighten the cover just frays and the clip won't hold the string and the cover continually comes loose, disappointed as we love the steam iron.

Disappointing – Sorry Philips this is a flop! Good on paper but.... The wings are more of a hindrance than a help. Whilst i thought the extra wide board would be great, you cannot put anything of a normal size ie.. t-shirts over the end because you stretch the **** out of them. Will be returning mine and going back to my old one.

does the job – I like the board but have a few minor observations that could be addressed. The padding is too thin, I paid $169 ( I know the good guys had it cheaper}. For the price I feel it should be thicker and the release latch ......what is up with that!!! It took me nearly 10 minutes to collapse the board never mind putting it up. Why is the handle over on… Read more · 1
the opposite side. I can't reach it as I am not a tall person and in my 60's I have to fight with the board to collapse it. The positive side to that is....I am getting exercise. I really find it difficult. May be you could look at these things. This is the 1st board I have bought in 40 years so I guess they have "modernized" them.
Ironing is a job in itself let alone having to wipe the floor and ironing board down every time I us – When my ironing board needed replacing I purchased this ironing board as I liked how it was designed and had the space to accommodate the Philips Steam Station which I already own. However not impressed that after ironing only a few items of clothing there is water dripping on the ground and a lot of moisture builds up on the underneath of the… Read more
board and when you collapse the board for storage there is quite a bit of water that runs off. I now find that after ironing I need to wipe the ironing board down, and depending on how bad the moisture is, I even have to put the ironing board outside to dry out properly. My concern is that considering the cost of this ironing board it is not going to last any longer than a cheap one from Kmart. This ironing board is supposed to accommodate the Steam Station - it only does this by allowing you to sit your station on the board - it does not cope with the actual steam generated onto the board.

Uneven legs, too difficult to open and close – The board looks good but for something so expensive I want something I can use comfortably. My two main issues are the uneven legs so it wobbles when ironing and the worst part is the opening and closing mechanism. After 10 minutes of struggling to close it I have given up, and will try again later. Perhaps they have forgotten that women do most… Read more
of the ironing and this should be taken into account when designing the opening, closing and height adjustment mechanism. Minor issue - still cannot work out the benefit of the iron cord holder? Love the extra width.
Very disappointed on the waste of money as I am not sure I can keep trying to wrestle with it.

Strongly recommend against buying this ironing board – For the price, this is a very poor quality ironing board. The board is honestly not much better than the $20 K-mart ironing board that it replaced. From the time of purchase, the board would not adjust very smoothly and would get stuck when raising/lowering. This issue was fixed with a spray of WD40, however should not have happened in the… Read more
first place.
The second issue is that the frame of the board appears solid, however is quite fragile. Each leg of the board now has dents from where it meets the board when folded. I store the board in a cupboard and have no idea how these dents happened.
Finally, the biggest issue of all is that the surface of the board is unstable. The middle section of the board moves up and down, making the surface 'pop' up and down when you iron over it. This is also likely due to the thinness of the metal combined with the heat of the iron I am using (Philips Perfectcare Aqua Steam Generator), however this board was recommended at the time of purchasing the iron.
The only redeeming feature of this board is probably the wings. They do work as advertised, however are not worth the hassle of this ironing board.
In short, I would stay away from this ironing board.

Nothing wrong with it – Got this ironing board at the same time I bought the Philips steam generator iron. Have used it once a week for three months now. Private home use only. Got this board because the Philips steam generator iron needs a large plate to sit on, and this board was designed for that iron. If you do say an hour's ironing with the steam generator iron, the… Read more · 1
board does get a lot of moisture in it, and starts to condense on the bottom side of the board, but I haven't noticed it dripping through onto the floor. And it dries out with no apparent harm. The little plastic wings on the pointy end of board - I haven't even bothered to unfold them. Don't think I really need them. But the board surface is wide. Board is big and heavy. Like the iron. Best if you have space to just leave the board out and the iron on the board ready to go, I suppose. I haven't had any of the problems reported by others.
Not happy with it – This board is heavy, it has had an annoying squeak from the start every time you press down on it. I find the graduations in height too far apart for me. One height is too tall and the next one down (when the board co-operates) is too short so ironing is uncomfortable and hurts my back on the lower level. I find it hard to put down and I have to… Read more
get my husband to do it most times. As for the wings, well I tried using them but it took me longer to iron a shirt than normal with all the positioning to get the shoulders right, so I gave up using them very quickly. I can't actually think of one redeeming feature. The mechanism for the up/down function is bizarrely on the wrong side for a right handed person. Maybe I bought the left handed version (joking). I'm going back to the Sabco brand that served me well for many years.

Reasonably good – The board is heavy and awkward to open and close. The nose is too wide although the overall width of the board is good. The stand for the iron is not suitable for an ordinary iron and it has buckled already after a few months. There is a rack for coat hangers that I have never been able to use because I cannot open it, I am not strong enough.… Read more
There are "shoulders" tucked under the nose which can be opened are according to Phillips are supplied to make ironing Dress Shirts easier, they are a nuisance, anything slipped over the board gets stuck on them, particularly anything elasticated such as shorts, even T-shirts catch on them, they are riveted on so cannot be removed.
On the good side, the height is very good. The board is very sturdy. The width of the board is great.
On the bad side, hard to open and close. Shoulders are a nuisance. Cannot use the coat hanger rack. Cannot use the Iron stand as it is only for steam generators and is buckled.

Some great points but just not good enough – My board also slants quite a lot to the side when my steam generator is on it - AND leaks water everywhere after ironing only a few items. GREAT DESIGN BUT ONE MAJOR FLAW!!! – The Easy 8 Ironing Board is a great design, but it has one major flaw. After 20 minutes of ironing with a steam generator (which is what the board is designed for), the perforated holes in the ironing board drop water onto the floor. After speaking with a Customer Service representative at Philips, I was informed that they have never had anyone… Read more

Good features, but too large for ladies and children's clothing – Friends had recommended this ironing board for its stability and clever fold out pieces for ironing shirts, and I really do like those. I also like the rack that can easily hold 6-8 hangers, and the board stays stable even with a whole heap of clothing hanging on it. However, I am a size 6-8 lady and I have found my own shirts / tops do not fit… Read more
around the end of the board - it is quite wide (45 cm) and the fold out pieces for shirts add to the bulk when folded away, under the tip of the board (7cm). I cannot use this board unless my tops have button or zip fronts. Same applies for my daughter's clothes. (Luckily I also own a steamer so I manage).
Hello Nicola, thanks for your valuable feedback.
Worst ironing board ever! – I bought this ironing board to replace an old one I had been using for 20 years and I'm so sorry I did. It is clumsy, I have had to put baby socks on the legs to stop them scratching our wooden floors, the 'wings' that are supposed to make ironing a shirt easier are useless and get in the way. The board itself is not as good as my old one. I'm so… Read more
