Fantastic Shaver - S8950 – I have a Philips series 8000 shaver - model 8950. This uses the same blades as the 9000 series shaver/ I have had this shaver for two years now and this replaced earlier high end Philips shavers. This is a great unit that gives a better shave than my earlier units. It is easy to clean, The blades don't appear to last as well as the earlier models, I have just changed mine after two years at a cost of about $99 - which is pretty good considering what I would have spent on blades in this period of time.

Purchased in at Amazon for $250.

Sad. Philips is burning their brand to the ground with this – I bought this for my fiancé at target because grandfather had a good shaver he swore by and this was the most expensive = best. I intended to make him happy for years. He used it once a month for national Guard drill, left it in his car during Minnesota winter days... bad for the battery (now I know) . Lasted about 20 months. He never registered it, of course.. Philips told me they wouldn't fix or replace the handle. I didn't save the receipt, it was a gift. I hid it and lost it. But I still paid $275! They offered my a coupon for a new one. Wow. I'd have taken one for a Braun.

Now I read that the redesigned replacement heads are junk?

What a shame! I have a philips soniccare, and it rocks! I bought one for my mom and best friend! They replaced my first handle when it failed, as I would expect when you pay for the best. I would have bought more of these shavers, one for my son when he's ready, but not now. Sad.

Sell your shares because Philips had no intention of continuing to be a trusted, household name.

Best razor I've ever used, just like a blade – I saw this shaver on Amazon for a reasonable price (Model number 1250x/42) and it had 100s of great reviews. I've been wanting another electric razor for ages since my last one finally chucked it in. This razor shaves so close it feels as though I've used a blade. It also feels so nice and smooth over your skin with no pulls or any uncomfortable feeling. You can even use this in the shower if you wish! It rocks! I should have bought one of these ages ago. i love it so much I even use it on the weekend :-) Cheap if purchased from the USA compared to Australia, Battery lasts forever, silky smooth on your skin with a really close shave Buying this razor in Australia is a joke. Although in saying that, It is worth the money as it's the best razor I've ever used.
