Platypus Super-100 Fishing Line

Best Monofilament I have used – I have been fishing for over 50 years and this is the best monofilament I have used. Over that 50 years I have used some of the best monofilaments available. Several different breeds from Platil, Damyl, Platypus, Maxima, Schneider, Tortue, Berkeley and a few others. I don't use monofilament much these days, other than as backing for braid and on a couple of reels I use when fishing in snaggy areas, as it has better abrasion resistance than braid. While I haven't measured the diameter, I can guarantee you "it's thin" for breaking strain. I have some 10lb and 20lb Super 100 on hand at present. I also have some 20lb Schneider Kleer and 20lb Berkeley Trilene to compare it with. It is significantly thinner than either of these and they aren't junk lines. I have used a lot of other 20lb lines over the years and it is without question one of the thinnest 20lb lines I have used. Platil was always my benchmark premium line and it would probably be a similar diameter to the Super 100, if you could get it, but Australian Dealers no longer stock it.
The Super 100 is very soft and subtle, ties beautifully, has excellent abrasion resistance and is very thin for its diameter. It's about $20 for a 300 metre spool and as far as I am concerned mono doesn't get much better than this.
Purchased at Compleat Angler for $20.
Average – Touted to be a thin line unfortunately it isn’t this line does not live up to the advertised diameters I purchase the 20lb 0.33mm line only to find that it has an actual diameter of 0.38mm or approximately 15% thicker than stated by Platypus Fishing Lines so actually it is the same thickness as their 25lb line. Over all it is an expensive line for what it is.

Simply too good – I have used many types of fishing line and as an ex TV fishing presenter and fishing writer for over 10 years I can with 100% confidence that Platypus super 100 fishing line is the best bar none . It is the worlds thinnest line and topping this it has great resistance qualities .I use platypus Super 100 in 8 , 12, 20 and 30 pound strains and I can truly recommend this line as it AAAAA+++++. And its Australian made

Excellent – -thin diameter allows trolling of smaller lures deeper with less weight. -both clear and fresh water brown used castng for bass, steelhead and rainbow trout. -have only been using one season but no complaints and several guides in the area are starting to use the line --not readily availeable in retail stores in canada but can be ordered direct from australian on line stores such as tacklemania etc.
--have tried other platypus lines as well and all have worked well
--some may question breaking strenght, be aware that the breaking strenght is IGFA thus if is says 16 lbs it will break at 16 lbs max and very close tollerance
-Note Professonal fishers have no problem with the break strength being realistic some anglers may be used to line that breaks when it is supposed to
-very consistent diameter quality control is obviously a priority with this company. -ultra thin diameter and abraision resistant even on icy rivers of BC Canada --not easy to access in canada and usa but available via australian on line marketers
