Pure Move 2500

Nice and portable except charging disrupts signal – As the title says. for some reason the signal is severely disrupted while charging. i have it plugged into my car audio but when it's low on charge it's nice to be able to plug it into my cigarette lighter charger. unfortunately it's unusable because the signal is disrupted significantly as soon as i plug it into the charger. Controls are a little counter intuitive and signal reception is disrupted whilst charging
Good Looking, Nice Sound, Nice to Hold, Good Build Quality – I love going for my regular walks but also enjoy listening to nice quality music. This gadget has allowed me to enjoy both activities at the same time. I was opting to buy the classic Ipod to store thousands of music in it, but I also prefer the spontaneous and varied music that the DAB offers with most stations offering non-stop music and virtually no commercials. DAB signal in our area is quite strong so opting for this gadget was no brainer.
I was worried with negative comments on UK Amazon about the unit but I bit the bullet and decided to get it through Ebay. I initially thought the price was a bit steep at $85 but once I laid hands on it the price did not matter much to me although I would have been happier if it came with the silicon case which is sold separately. The sound quality is very good and can be further enhanced with the in-built bass and treble adjustment. Battery life is not too bad I use it an average of 5 hours each week and charge the unit about once a f/n. Contrary to some reviews, the control unit is intuitive once you get the hang of it - very easy to operate and user friendly. I also like the display with the orange backlight. The steel casing and shiny chrome backcover compliments the unit and is a pleasure to hold in my palm during my walks. The unit is just the right size and weight, just smaller than my smart phone but a bit thicker.
Reception is excellent as long as the headphone is attached – it acts as external aerial. The headphone that comes with the unit is not too bad, but I’ve used other headphones (ATH-M50, Beyerdynamic COP, Monster Inspiration and Sony ANC-N13). The best sound output is provided by the M50 at 38 ohms impedance given that the Pure 2500 was designed for a 16 ohms headphones. I’m sure there are other more expensive up-market headphones out there that could deliver better SQ but at this price range I would say it is a perfect match. Some people find the maximum sound output level insufficient. I think this is highly subjective and depends on individual preferences as I have no issues with this. If you like your music really loud then consider getting a headphone amp although it may not work with this unit as the impedance rating of the amp may not meet the aerial requirement.
The unit comes with two year peace of mind warranty in Australia. Hopefully I would not require any repair or servicing as the build quality seems fine with the control buttons, metal casing and instantaneous and clear display, not to mention the excellent SQ & flawless reception. The Pure 2500 also comes with a replaceable battery unit that is widely available and reasonably priced unlike the Sangean.
My only gripe is that the lock key takes a bit of fiddle to slide it across using your fingers with one hand. You basically need two hands to move the lock key quickly as it is slightly imbedded on the casing. Better option is to utilise a push button switch which is common with digital gadgets these days. The on/off switch located in the AM/FM switch is to me is a minor design flaw which could be improved as you need to press it down for around 4 seconds to turn the unit off. Hold it for less than 4 seconds and you end up switching the functionality from DAB to FM which is frustrating at times. Excellent sound quality.Built to last. Nice to hold and not bad looking. Replaceable battery. Easy to use intuitive controls. Hold switch is fiddly. On/Off switch needs improvement. Price does not include silicon case.
Great little digital radio!! – I live in a bit of fringe area for digital radio (1 hr south pf Perth) but the reviews on this device were great so I took a punt. Worked out be a good punt as it is a very good unit - follows the pure tradition of quality. Also have an elite series II which is another very good unit. This little radio is simple to use and is solidly built, compact and has very clean lines - have read reviews to the contrary from some that it is a bit "fiddly" to use, but it is very easy and not difficult to set up and play. "Auto tunes" the DAB stations quickly, the display is adequate and shows the basics - battery monitor is good - battery seems to have a good life. Sound quality is well balanced and the supplied earphones are very good. The earphones also double as the antenna - can drop out a bit when moving around indoors but not too bad - outdoors is good. Haven't tried it on the Perth train yet but it should work better than fm radios and am radios which dont work at all. Dab works better than fm - is superior to analogue fm but fm still pretty good. great build quality; simple to use; good sound especially digital
Fantastic sounding personal radio – This radio sounds fantastic in both DAB+ and FM. The soundstage is excellent; wide and spacious. Tonally, there is no imbalance between low, mid and high frequency ranges. The supplied bud earphones are excellent and do a good job of keeping ambient noise at bay. There is no need to upgrade here! The unit has sufficient volume for listening at sensible levels..The radio appears to use an internal aerial as reception remains unaffected by movement of the headphone leads unlike other personal radios I've used. I rate this feature highly as I find it incredibly frustrating to have broadcasts.interrupted by noise every time the leads move! Background noise is pretty much non- existent where I live in a high signal strength area and I've as yet to try it in weaker signal areas. The supplied rechargeable battery seems to last a long time- I haven't had to recharge it yet. This radio is very nicely styled and has an absolute minimum of controls; one rotating ring and a central "ok" button. It takes a little getting used to but once mastered enables quick and easy selection of functions. The LCD display is backlit in orange for a little while when any function is selected and visibility is good. The radio is very well built and is solid. No plasticky feel here! The best feature of this radio is the sound quality; I can't fault it. Fantastic sound quality, solid build, ease of use
