Pure One Mini

ABC country calamity – A digital radio that worked well for about a year but then I lost the abc country channel Channel for some reason, and as this was the only channel I listened to on this radio, this was most disappointing I found it a little confusing to select different options and was rather disappointed in my whole experience It was a gift so I didn't complain about it, but I would definitely steer clear of this whole brand in the future Show details
Great work radio – After my higher priced brand name radio died on me i decided to buy a Pure One mini. Wow i should have bought this first, much better sound and easy to use. I find it all round a better product than my last DAB radio and would have no hesitation to recommend it to others. Ease of use and great sound No power pack included
Very Impressive! – I bought this radio mainly for its size, i use it at work on construction sites. Its very durable, sound is great, reception is very good. I am very impressed with it and recommend it to anyone seeking a digital radio under $100, though i bought the extra battery pack which i think is worth the extra $50 seeing it lasts upto 22 hours on a full charge. Great sound, very portable Having to buy a battery as an extra Show reply
Still one of the best budget DAB+ radios on the market – I've owned a Pure One Mini for 18 months and I have generally been very happy with it. Compared to other sub-$100 DAB+ radios, the Pure One Mini has a very solid feel. Whilst it's only got a mono speaker, sound quality is good and it provides reasonable volume and bass without distortion. It works very well when connected to a larger amplifier… Read more · 1
through the 3.5mm headphone jack, and I often connect it to my hi-fi.
DAB+ reception is very good. I've used it in the car a few times and have never had any dropouts. However, FM reception is not so good. Some fringe and community stations that I can easily pick up at home or in the car do not come through the Pure One Mini at all. These days, most stations simulcast in DAB+, plus there are new DAB+ only stations that mitigate this. This may be a consideration for some users.
Battery life is excellent, and I get up to 20 hours of runtime per recharge. It does take a while to fully recharge (around 12 hours) and the battery is an optional extra, and not cheap at around $40-$50. It is a worthwhile investment.
Overall, this is a high quality unit for DAB+ aficionados on a budget. Excellent build quality, great DAB+ reception, good sound quality, long battery life Battery pack is an optional extra, poor FM reception
Great portable digital radio – Have owned the Pure One Mini digital radio for about 10 months and it hasn't let us down. We use our radio all the time and often take it with us on picnics and to the beach. We wanted a reliable, portable, reasonably priced radio with good sound. This one ticks all those boxes. I would definitely recommend to family and friends, and have since… Read more
purchased two more of these radios as gifts for family members. Portable, good sound quality, reasonably priced Rechargeable battery is bought separately and costs around $40
Excellent – This is a really well designed unit, and a great way to get into digital radio without busting the bank. It is physically comparable to others in the same price range, but it absolutely spanks the competition in every department. The great sound is the main draw card. It only has a small mono speaker, but the performance betrays its size. Even… Read more
on full blast, this radio has a great, well balanced output. The bass wont shake your house down, but it has decent depth and is well defined. On DAB broadcasts, the high end is a bit subdued, but this problem is not present on the same FM broadcasts- the general opinion is that this is the fault of the broadcasters and not the receivers.
Another feature that trumps the competition is the display. The display on this unit (which is shared with most models across the PURE range) is a 2 x 16 display, but it differs from others because it has another row on top dedicated for Volume, Battery (if installed), Mode, Time and Signal Strength. Other units that make do with a strict single or dual line display can only display this sort of info at a stab of one or several buttons, which is a hassle and sacrifices Digital Radio text- one of the reasons for getting a digital radio in the first place. It may sound trivial, but having the time and signal strength available instantly at a glance is very useful.
You can buy an optional battery pack, although it is pretty dear but probably worth it. The small size and powerful output makes this an ideal radio to throw in the bag for when your out and about. It would have been better if it could take your own high capacity re-chargeables. Surprisingly punchy and clear, wide ranging sound.
Multiline display, where others barely have a 1 line display. Glossy case makes it look a touch cheap and scratches easily.
Proprietary re-chargeable battery.
Display cannot be dimmed or switched off when plugged in, which is annoying at night.
Not too shabby – Got this as a present so didn't actually choose it. Despite that this is a nice unit and the sound is more than adequate. Overall pretty good actually, so long as you stay close to power supply. sound, size, length of power cord, display no battery supplied, actual battery is a special 'pak' costing around $50, entering stations into preset is fiddly and took several goes to get right, only 8 digital presets + 8 FM presets available
