Regis Aged Care

I was disgusted with the treatment of my auntie in this place. They left her in the nappy ALL day resulting in a rash and a UTI! When they ‘did’ take her to the toilet, they poured a bucket of water over her head (whilst sitting on the toilet). This was their idea of giving her a shower! She was never taken outside. Only moved from couch to bed… Read more
where she stayed all day. She was extremely depressed due to lack of brain stimulation. Elderly residents deserve to be treated with dignity & respect. If staff do not have the skill or training to meet their needs, they should be permitted to operate.
Regis aged care when my relative was there was terrible, she was visabley aggetated and sore from being left in the one position, poor pressure care, poor hygiene and non existent oral health care as her teeth were black.
Go anywhere else but this place they forget to feed people. the food they do get is worse than jail food and when you complain nothing gets done if you ask me someone needs to get current affair to look into them so if you are thinking of sending a loved one there dont
My father was placed in care at Regis Greenmount 2 1/2 years ago as his dementia had progressed to the level that was beyond my family’s capabilities to care for him. Overall the care is great however since being in their care they have lost his hearing aids, wheelchair, walker and now his glasses. These are all items I would think from a care… Read more
point of view would be considered essential. I have sent numerous emails, one reply even apologising for the inconvenience over the lost items. None of them have been found in this secure facility or replaced with new as they all were when he became a resident. I currently have a case open with the aged care quality and safety commission to try and resolve these issues. As it has just got to the stage where the nurses don’t seem concerned at all that these aids for fall prevention and my father’s quality of life have been lost. I closed the case with the aged care quality and safety commission after meeting with the management and receiving assurances that all issues would be addressed. Well it’s now been another six weeks since that meeting and not only has my father not received a credit for the glasses that have now been replaced twice. I received a call yesterday to tell me that one of his $2500 hearing aids is now missing after less than two weeks of being replaced. I am now beyond furious and can only come to the conclusion that this facility and Regis as a company are more about profits to stakeholders than the care of their residents. I have now opened another complaint with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission after this from the state GM “ I want to personally thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention regarding the ongoing issues with your father’s hearing aids and other personal items. We completely understand how distressing it must be to experience these repeated incidents” All I can say is be very wary if you are considering placing someone you love and care for in a Regis facility.
Regis Elermore vale Shortland staff are all extremely caring and very nice. Thank you so much for looking after our Dad. Alan It means the world to us.
Follow-up · The staff are fabulous very very happy with the care they gave my father for the 2 years thank you.
Thankyou to amazing staff – We just wanted to say thankyou so much to all the staff at Regis Gatton who have helped to look after my Mum, Greta Vickers, over the last few years. We could always sleep easy knowing she was getting the best care possible and she was safe and cared for. I know she got a little difficult towards the end and I hope anyone she lashed out at wasn't… Read more
hurt too badly. Our Mum was one of the best and as difficult as it was to watch her deteriorate it was comforting to know that you all were there for her. Thankyou once again. Pip and Mark West
REGIS CABOOLTURE UNFAIR TOLLERENCE – I am Retired and for five years I was a volunteer for Anglicare Caboolture. I would travel to visit old men who lived alone once a week and sit and talk to them for an hour. My supervisor would arrange each new client I was to visit. She would attend with me for the first visit of each new client. A male at Regis Caboolture was matched as a… Read more
possible client I could visit weekly. I completed the guided tour of Regis and it's services and different types of care areas. I had several visit with this first man until he declined to have any more visits. My supervisor then arrange for me to visit another male occupant of Regis Caboolture. This male was bed ridden 24/7 and was a retired fireman. My supervisor thought we would get on well seeing I was a retired Police Officer. So my supervisor arranged the first visit date and attended with me to meet this man. Unknown to me this was also his wife's visiting day. And it was obvious she was upset at our interruption. So I said I can come back another day. I then shook hands with the man and being friendly asked him, How long have you been married to the old girl. His wife irrupted I'M NOT OLD. I was then walked out with my supervisor on one side and the nurse of the other side. They were berating me like I was a naughty little primary school boy who had done something outrageously rude and insulting. Not a 6'2" retired Police Officer with 40 years service. I was gob smacked what the problem was, this was an Australian term of endearment for ones wife. And never used or intended as an insult by me. Later the Regis Life Style Group had a closed meeting about this and I was banded from the Regis Facility. No one spoke on my behalf or gave me the ability to defend my self. No second chance or warning. I then stopped volunteering with every one. Good luck if you are living or visiting at Regis Caboolture.
Expect better considering the cost – Regis Malvern East. Positive - a great sense of community; overall caring staff (although like all businesses they are subject to the attitude of the staff they employ). Lots of activities to keep guests engaged. Negative - the place is grimy in places. Floors are not regularly cleaned, lifts covered in fingerprints, guests expected to clean… Read more
up cafe tables. Eating areas can be left messy after mealtime because staff can’t be bothered to clean spills and will just step over dropped napkins. There seems to be an ‘it’s not my job’ attitude.
An illuminating and disappointing visit – I went for a tour to their Birkdale facility. It presents very nicely from the outside with well kept gardens and outdoor areas. I wanted to see if it would suit my loved one for respite. However, I left with several concerns. Firstly, the staffing levels need significant improvement according to the 1 star on their myagedcare web page. The lack… Read more
of staffing may help to explain the second concern, the strong urine odour I detected while walking through the residences. Thirdly, I couldn't find any locks on the resident's doors - or at least in the room I was inspecting. In addition there was no evidence of any of the activities scheduled on the posters. It was 10:30 - 11:30 in the morning. Perhaps they were all out on a day trip? In view of the $22K ($45/resident/ day) of extra services fees being paid each week, it's hard to explain the lack of hygiene, staff and security in this facility. Also, I was disappointed to learn about this fee because if I'd known about it I would not have incurred significant cost, time and effort to visit coming from 1 1/2 hrs away. The myagedcare website shows $0 in extra service fee. Clearly this is misleading.
Reviews – Why are all of the one star reviews delayed so the public can’t read them???
RUN! Would NOT recommend – If I could put 0 I would! Take everything they say the stand for they are the opposite. If you love the person then DONT place them here!! I went through in detail what was needed before accepting the bed I said we will take the bed with a couple conditions all ok was all ok no problems. Mum was transferred there wasn’t good from the start but… Read more
though give it a couple weeks to settle in never changed only the bullying and harassment got worse from management and staff. No Dr came to see her, physio came to do a plan but staff can’t/ don’t want to do it so stays in bed. The food is awful not healthy like tin spaghetti dried cardboard tasting meat. Doesn’t get a basic wash, teeth brushed, hair brushed or washed daily not even weekly/ monthly!!! Let alone if your loved one has the wear a pad then they will be sitting in a soiled pad for anywhere between 6-12hours while they wait for staff to change them. The don’t listen just walk out don’t have any time for anyone but themselves cause you will find them in the corner having a catch up. Meant to be able to relax and while your loved one it being taken care of but not here!!! I have spent all my time taking food in, and doing some basic hygiene. When asked a question they just lie had staff come in and press the call bell off and walk out without helping. Strangers just wonder into my mums room. Can’t believe we are paying for my mum to be degraded, harassed and bullied from management and staff!!! So angry!! Also mum was never given a contract when she entered the facility until about 6 weeks in they left is in her room and now trying to force her to sign it There is still much more!!
We would highly recommend Regis – Our father needed to go into respite following a fall at home. After a lot of online searching and inspections, we settled on a local Regis Aged Care facility. The facility is small, has a very homely, comfortable feel about it and the staff have been welcoming, friendly and extremely good with their care and concern for his well being. The… Read more
staff/Carer ratio to residents is excellent. On completion of the Respite period, he will need to become a permanent resident as he is no longer able to live independently. On the basis of the care, attention and concern shown the family, he will be staying there. Another good thing is that their daily charges are very reasonable, well below what other facilities want to charge.
STAY AWAY FROM REGIS - CABOULTURE – My mother was in Respite for 4 wks & no doctor looked at her that whole time, she was in pain 24/7 & I had been looking after her for 3 & a half yrs after a Dr damaged her removing her gallbladder. Mum ended up in RBH hospital after this so called respsite at Regis to give me a break. She ended up malnourished & had to be fed through a drip she… Read more
ended up so ill. I was asked if I wanted to keep her alive by the hospital after the state she ended up, she ended up having a stroke & is now in a wheelchair with the start of dementia. Thank you Regis

I wouldn't put a dog in here – 19 miserable months in Regis destroyed my mother. My sibling had power of attorney put mother in Regis. Mother was 72, physically very healthy and fit with early signs of dementia. Mother was told it was a trial only to find herself permanently committed. During the trial mum was allowed to play music in her room, cut flowers, was taken out on… Read more
outings, the carers even sang happy birthday to her. During the trial mother received hard sell sessions that used fear tactics. During the trial I took my mother to her house to collect some clothes and I was aggressively reprimanded because, unknown to me, the scheme was mother shouldn't see her house so she would forget it! After the trial, she was signed in and other than the sibling with POA, none of her 5 children was informed. We had no rights. Once signed in, Mother was reprimanded for cutting flowers and playing music, the carers would walk into her room and switch the music off. The place was greatly understaffed. Most of the carers I met were okay, one carer was extremely bad tempered and she abused my mother on at least 3 occasions and management ignored my reports. One day I called in to find my mother in her underwear sitting in the dining room surrounded by other residents having dinner. Mother was crying and unable to speak. The carer complained mother took too long to dress and aggressively forced my mother from her room to the dining room in her underwear. I complained and sought an explanation from management who evaded my calls and never gave me explanation nor apology to my mother. My mother was frequently medicated, she would be dopy, falling asleep as I spoke to her. Management refused to tell me what medication it was. Mother became extremely depressed and wanted out of Inala but this was not possible. My mother's room faced hot western sun, had no air-conditioning and smokers (residents and visitors) would smoke day and night outside my mother's window and nothing was done despite all my meetings with management. Many of my mother's possessions disappeared, jewelry, handbags and garden statues she had outside her window. The food was disgusting.
My mother was taken to hospital with a major stroke and the manager (name removed) offered no explanation. After Mother died, I sought an explanation, the manager evaded my calls for many weeks, telling me she will call back, that she was in a meeting or couldn't talk to me because she didn't have my mother's file in hand. Not once did she even offer the cliché expression of sympathy that I had lost my mother. By force I obtained a meeting many weeks later. The manager, supported by another manager quickly read her report and refused to answer any questions, refused me access to my mother's file and doctors report. What I learnt was that my mother was physically restrained and medicated for allegedly hitting another resident, (management refused to reveal what medication was used). She was put in bed and the next morning found paralyzed with a major stroke. In the restraint she suffered a broken thigh bone but the manger claimed staff weren't aware it had happened. The stroke left my mother permanently paralyzed. Mother decided she didn't want to live, refused all food and medication and died about 2 weeks later. The delayed death certificate read; died from mal nutrition. Inala Regis left my mother with nothing to live for, she lost her house, her friends, her life style and her health. The pain and misery inflicted on my mother still hurts me today. I wouldn't put a dog in their care.
Regis don’t care – How does a blunt force trauma resulting in death of my mum get swept under the carpet by Regis, they alleged mum was found deceased on the floor after falling out of bed, hitting their head on something on the way down and causing facial bruising. Regis didn't call an Ambulance, or a doctor to attend immediately, Regis didn't call Police even… Read more
thought it would seem a suspicious death (probably understandable they don't seem interested), Regis didn't call the Coroner’s office (required under the Coroner’s Act 2003), just got rid of my mum to a funeral home as quick as they could, even before their doctor could attend. Mum's blood was cleaned up on the floor, her room was rearrange, they put mum into bed and cleaned the blood of her.... Regis Doctor's (who had only seen mum once or twice in 5 months) report "cause of death" on my mum doesn't mention the blunt force trauma or bruising.....why??? This is a cover up or incompetence. How does Regis explain months of my mum's medication (which I have) not being given to her and being held in a black garbage bag.
PLEASE Check on your elderly at these places, don't just assume they are being looked after. Don't expect the Government to make Regis stop their behaviour.
