I have recently bought this cam adding to the ring doorbell. It's setup correctly recording what I need. The trial has just finished and I noticed now I get false notifications. When the trial was active I hardly had any because of the position but now the trial has ended I get one every few minutes. It seems like Ring want you to buy a sub or… Read more

they'll send you false notifications 'that you can't see without a sub' seems a bit money grabby. It does however have great range and can pick someone up from 6-7m WITH audio.

Order lost and refund not forthcoming – We ordered this product and paid by credit card, which was charged same day. Then the next day we clicked on the link we were provided to check the order and a text message was received saying our order was cancelled. There was no info provided and no message saying we would get a refund. we rang customer service who advised the order number… Read more

didn't exist and therefore couldn't provide any information on what had happened. RING's systems are hopeless and we feel scammed so will now have to contact our bank to see if we can get a refund for a fraudulent transaction.

Works Well – Works well and picture - video quality is good. However battery drains very quickly and you are constantly needing to recharge them, definitely pays to have spare batteries on hand so you don't need to wait for them to charge. I think if I bought again I would buy the wired in cameras. Show details

Not refundable – I purchased a ring outside camera worth was $289 and I did not know there is a subscription include in this product. I did not know after paying this month the subscription fees is an extra money which need to pay to run this service. When I knew I went to Bunnings and said I have this problem and they said they can’t refund if I have set up ring… Read more

online account. I mean what u want this thing runs with online account. I talked to ring and they said if u bought it online then we could do refund or exchange. The store is totally useless they should tell the customer about the subscription fees before buying the product. It was not mentioned anywhere. After installing the product they are saying you are on trail to keep record videos there is a subscription fees. I want refund on this product I am not satisfied at all.

great camera, easy to install, works perfectly – Ring spotlight camera ( I got the wired version ). I wanted to upgrade my surveillance system. I selected a well known brand that was a little bit cheaper than Ring. It turned out to be a poor choice. Installation was difficult and one component did not work. The help lines were useless. I decided to abandon my new system and purchase a Ring… Read more

spotlight wired camera. The Ring camera was simple to install, all the required screws etc were included in the package. Ring sent an email to make sure all was well. The camera linked to my internet quickly and smoothly.Do yourself a favour don't be fooled by cheaper products get the best from the start. Buy Ring products and save yourself angst and frustration.

Windows desktop Version – The mobile app is working with minimum options. I need to restart my Samsung phone everyday to get push notification alerts. Otherwise you cant hear the notification. The windows desktop app was good but it is not continuing (Sad). You have to remember all WIFI passwords every time you remove the battery for recharge. Show details

Don't waste your money – Do not waste your money buying the Ring cameras. Batteries take ages to charge. I have a spotlight camera that says battery is not charged even after fully charging battery. Will not set up to my Ring app now either. Save your money and buy a better product.

Inherently flawed security camera – There are a lot of good things that can be said about the ring spotlight: the build, functionality and ease of use regarding the ring software. The LED lights are bright, the alarm system is great. Unfortunately, none of that matters if the ring spotlight only records for a maximum of 30 seconds. Burglaries/vandalism or any unwanted events are… Read more

cut short and missed.

There is a long thread detailing the shortfalls and the attempts of many people who have already bought these devices to get Ring to change the software/app to allow for longer than 30 seconds recording. This thread is almost a year long with no proper response from Ring. see: https://community.ring.com/t5/Security-Cams/video-recording-length/td-p/1268

what is more upsetting is that the status of this thread has been changed by Ring to "solved" as to say there is no problem with their device. If you spend the time to read the 9-page long thread, no one is happy with their Ring security cameras.

Inherently flawed, no support from the Ring company after you have spent the money.

RING ... a bit of Bling – We had a burglary. The Ring unfortunately only captures the first 30 seconds, then resets. So got the people going in, but not coming out with 3 handbags. Internet in Australia is really slow ... so jerky movements and still shots for several seconds, while it catches up to itself. Ring is better than nothing but I have now upgraded to continuous recording. No jumpy jumpy video. The batteries were a pain to recharge every few weeks! Show details

If You’ve Got Nothing Else – Have had 2 of these for over 12 months now, so in a position to fairly review their performance to date. Because we also deploy ARLO WiFi cams, and a couple of RING Floodlight cams (hard wired only), we are in the position to rate the battery cams against the other contenders in our application. Build quality is great, and RING include everything… Read more

in the package to get you up and running. The batteries are easily removable for charging - yes, they can only be charged by removing them. You get one with the package, but there is an additional slot in the cam body to add another. These usually retail for around $40, but you can get them cheaper if you’re prepared to wait for the retailer’s VIP or 20% off nights. The batteries slip into the body easily, but need a firm shove to seat them, and they need quite a fiddly pull to remove them, so you will need to recheck your camera’s alignment after replacement in case all that movement has pushed it off centre a bit. The mounts for the cams seem a little flimsy, and I was reluctant to tighten the screws too much in case they snapped the housing.

RING provide an unexpectedly handy multi tool to assist in installation, however you get one in every box ... so if you think you’d like multiple cams, have a look at their multi packs. You’ll usually save money this way, and you won’t have several tools laying around after you’ve completed the installation. Once you have your batteries charged and inserted into the cam you link it wirelessly with your home WiFi - by placing it right beside the modem, and this can cause a bit of consternation. I think with one of them we needed 4 or 5 attempts. You should only ever have to do this once, and there are firmware checks/updates that happen at the time, so just be patient ... it will eventually happen!! You are then given a readout of the WiFi signal strength on the interface that assists you in deciding on best placement. Batteries take a very long time to recharge, particularly in comparison to the Arlo’s.

The interface with these cams is adequate, but there are precious few customisable parameters. My real pet peeve is that one cannot user programme the amount of time that the lights stay on for ... and this is frustrating. One of them tends to stay on for 20-30 seconds per activation, the other around 8-10. There’s no rhyme or reason to this. Sometimes they don’t come on at all. Mostly however, the lights are remarkably sensitive. I just wish they were consistent, and that the length of time could be programmed. My other pet peeve is that, unlike the Arlo’s these can’t be simply turned off and back on ... in our experience they’re pretty well always running, and all you can do is momentarily pause notifications. Despite apparently being able to disable the light, this function doesn’t seem to work in our application, since when we disable the light ... it still comes on!!

Daytime video quality is pretty good, if you can live with that wide angled “fish eye” effect. Unfortunately night time quality is .... well ... appalling. These cams are particularly sensitive to WiFi signal strength it would seem ... and as most of us know, this can be pretty crappy in Australia. In our application it didn’t seem to matter whether we sited the cams 20 metres away or 4 metres away, night time video sucks. It is in colour, and yes you will see blurred movement ... but you won’t stand an iceberg’s chance in hell of identifying anybody you may capture in the vision unless they have their face 30 cm away!!

Battery life is quite good. I haven’t recorded how long they last for as it is meaningless anyway - what happens in your application will be completely different from what happens in ours. But you should get 2 or 3 of weeks out of one. If you happen to have a couple of batteries in the cam you’ll obviously get longer. A note at this point - If you happen to have two batteries installed, the interface will let you know the levels of each. It describes them as either Left or Right .... in this context, the L or R refers to looking at the camera from the front.

Sensitivity is good. And yes, you can check your cams from anywhere in the world so long as your home WiFi is active. They have capacity to sound an alarm, and you can speak into the cam and hear responses ... but like their night time video, this feature is awfully laggy, and there’s a better than average chance that you’ll be addressing or trying to scare off the visitor a couple of minutes AFTER they’ve left. UNLESS of course you have lightning internet and have the WiFi unit a metre from the camera. Unlikely for most of Australia.

The hard wired RING Floodlight cam is an entirely different kettle of fish. It is SUPERB in almost every aspect - lights programmable, voice and siren application seem to have little to no lag, and its night time video quality is heaps better than the battery spotlight cam. So if you happen to have power access ... choose it EVERY TIME!! The battery spotlight cam has its place .... only for situations where power is impossible, and you only want to catch intruders in daylight!!!

Oh and one last thing .... you probably already know this ... but if you don’t ... you need to buy cloud storage from RING. Either per cam ... or you can pay a higher price and cover an unlimited number of cameras. If you don’t have this, you can only view the cam’s input in real time. It’s a bit of a bugbear because, despite quoting the price in AUD, once charged it’s all converted to USD ... plus a healthy “international transfer fee”. So the charge isn’t quite what you may have been expecting. The cams come with a free trial period .... I think it’s 30 days.

it's very good – I've purchased two ring spotlight cam battery models and they cover the front of our house including the ring video doorbell 2, they are all 1080 hd and the videos are good. The lights are bright, the sirens noisy, at night the video and light come on for thirty seconds, the wired version comes on for longer and there's a couple of extra features… Read more

over the battery, like more control over the motion sensors. I've the cloud storage for au$150 per year for all three devices. Occasional they drop out and after reading another review I've set the 2.4 Ghz to a fixed channel not 12 or 13 as they can be connectivity problems especially with the extra doorbell chime. However the wifi still drops out and usually I can view a live recording, i.e. just having a peep outside, on only two of the three cameras. If someone trips the motion sensors the appropriate video of the intruder is always taken and you can view from your iPhone, iPad or computer. Zoom in, download, email etc. My wifi for the house is good as I've also purchased an Orbi mesh system. The ring apps are very good and are updated, I had assistance over chat to ring and got through within two mins. They are surprisingly easy to install and are well made, a professional company.

Ring spotlight camera – I wanted some sort of security as iv had some small items stolen from my driveway so I looked On the net at several outside cameras.i chose the Ring brand for several reasons over the others for these reasons.it has 2 small but powerful enough lights on it.I can speak through the inbuilt speaker to who ever is there and they can reply through the… Read more ·  3

inbuilt microphone.it uses a rechargeable battery which states 6-12 months on a charge depending on how often it’s used but has another port for another battery and app has battery indicator on it.if you don’t want to recharge the battery it has a solar panel that’s at an extra cost ($99 ) can be plugged in to recharge .it operates on all systems.i have it on 2 android phones,2 iPads and my smart tv.picture is crystal clear and I mean crystal clear even in the night with no lights on.it has 3 zones for the sensors so you can use all 3 or a couple.sensor can be adjusted from 2.4 meters to 9.1 metres.the app is very easy to use and notifies you when the motion sensor has been activated.you adjust everything from the app and it also has a light button so you can turn it on and also an alarm button which operates an alarm sound which isn’t bad.you can buy these in a single pack but also multiple ones.i should have got the double but just wanted to see first.so all up I must say it’s work a lot better than what I thought and especially for under $300.happy Chappy
