Bring Back Model 3050 – I’ve had mine for 16+ years and it is fabulous. It is illuminated with a blue light when power off and a red light when boiling Or powered up, very stylish too. I can’t understand why this model was taken off the market??? Please bring back model 3050. Unfortunately mine has sprung a leak in the base, old gander has served me well. Again BRING BACK MODEL 3050 pleeeze Show details
Light years ahead – This is my second one of these. The first just got worn out after years of service. I was really pleased to be able to buy a replacement. Appearance - space age with beautiful blue LED light in the side windows, or red if heating. Performance - "whisper" quiet in operation. Maintenance - Doesn't seem to collect any scale. Handy - button on… Read more
the handle that if switched "On" will maintain temperature once the kettle switches "Off" (i rarely use this but it's there...)
Do yourself a favour, if you're looking for a high quality electric kettle that performs - this is it. I love it!
Fabulous and pretty! – I have had this kettle for over one year now and have loved it from day one! It is very quiet and quick to boil and is also a rather attractive kettle and looks stylish on my bench top. It features a bright red light whilst it is heating and a bright blue light when it has boiled. I think the lights look great and as I always turn the kettle off… Read more
at the power point when it is not in use, I have not found the lights to be a problem at all. There is also a simmer function but I have not used this.
Wear sunglasses – I bought this kettle after my last one broke. I thought I would pay a bit more and get a decent product. It is functional and is built well but this what I don't understand: This kettle is featured as whisper quiet. That is, it's non intrusive which is great. But it has these status lights: blue for off and red for on (blue is not simmer as far as… Read more
know). So it's audibly quite but visually very noisy. I wonder what the product designers were thinking. At night, it makes my kitchen look like a scene from SCI or a night club. I reckon you could use a couple of them to guide a 747 in for landing if they didn't blind the pilot. The most annoying thing is this kettle consumes power when it's off. I just leave it off it's mount.
If you like bright shiny lights and gadgets then you'll probably love this. If you want something non-intrusive and efficient that does its job well and nothing else then don't buy. functional, easy to pour, solid Consumes power when it's off. Ridiculous blue light.
Love it – I Wasn't that impressed when I pulled it out of the box but I loved it when I first used it. It so quick and quieet and I love the simmer feature which keeps the kettle hot without having to reboil as sometimes I would reboil several times before using.
RH Ascot - brand new - opened box; base plate mis-aligned - doesn't work – The first I noticed on opening the box was the base plate electric connectoer was at an angle. Tried the kettle on the base - no lights or heat - nothing! the fault in the base was so obvious it should have been picked up in quality control inspection - poor, even sloppy, manufacturing processes. Now I have the inconvenience of: 1) no kettle; 2)… Read more
taking it back, maybe getting a refund, and finding a new kettle. Will I take the risk of getting another replacement RRussel Hobbs?
did not work straight out of the box
Lives up to expectations! – Just bought a new Russell Hobbs Ascot cordless kettle after my last kettle (Russell Hobbs Whisper) had to be retired after 7 years constant service. We had great tasting water from the word go, read the before use instructions to prepare the kettle. It is so quiet, boils quickly and the visible window on either side of the kettle allows you to see… Read more
what is happening from a distance. The push button on the lid opens easily for filling and even when the kettle has just boiled, is cool enough to open and refill immediately if required. Extremely quiet, snazzy looking and love the red light that comes on when it is heating up. Won't use the simmer function as it uses power. Turn off at the wall to eliminate any power drainage, not a major drawback though as some may like to leave the led blue light on
Excellent – The blue light that comes on after it has boiled is handy because it is so low noise that sometimes you aren't aware that it has already boiled. It is easy to fill either through the spout or with the lid open and we have no problem with the way it pours. The brushed metal is good as, unlike chrome, it doesn't show finger marks. The clear viewing… Read more
windows on both sides, with appropriate levels clearly marked, are far better than other difficult to read 'depth gauges'. All round, we think this model is the best Russell Hobbs kettle and one of the best on the market. Don't skimp and buy a cheaper kettle. Search for the best price. We were lucky and got this one on sale (Feb.2010) for $89.95 at Harris Scarfe, Adelaide. I think it is really the quietest metal electric kettle around. It also boils quickly and efficiently. Looks great as well.
Bad – I really love how quiet it is compared to our 10 year old Breville. Love the way it lights up. It seems to boil for too long and produces a lot of steam. The electrical component in the middle of the base is loose. If you buy this kettle, make sure it sits flush on the base, maybe we just got a dud, only bought it Friday and have to take it… Read more
back! Not sure I want to give it another chance as think the problem will still be there. Very quiet and an attractive kettle, I was drawn to the way it lights up The base where the electrical component is, is very loose and the kettle has to be "wiggled around" to get it to connect. Boiling produces a lot of steam that goes up the cupboards and almost reaches the ceiling!
Produces terrible flavoured water – We purchased the Russell Hobbs Ascot cordless kettle a week ago. Since then, we have had to descale it 3 times because the water it produces has a metallic taste that keeps returning every two to three days. Although the taste goes away immediately after descaling, it soon returns. Looks good, is quiet and boils water thoroughly Should not have to descale it to rid of metallic tasting water so often!
Experience somewhat marred by one defective unit, but overall happy with the product – Bought this a week ago and was attracted by the features and it's nice lines. It is definitely quieter than any other kettle that I have had. I did however have to return the first one I bought due to the fact that it leaked everywhere from the switch and holes in the base after a week of fairly light use (3-4 times/day with less than 1L per use).… Read more
I am hoping this is a one-off fault. The simmer function may be useful to some, but have yet to find a need for it. It can be difficult to fill if you have a low set tap due to the hinged lid. As someone else has reported, the blue standby light stays on whenever the kettle is plugged in, but as it is an LED the power draw is negligible. Might be an issue if you like total darkness though. Nice looking unit; Very quiet; Light indicator useful; Cool touch handle Leaked extensively after a week of use; standby stays on all the time; small inlet with hinged lid may be issue for filling inlet
Hi this kettle doesn't have to be on standby, either switch off at the power or you may have… Read more
Bad – First year worked well and looked great. 2nd year started falling apart. Durability not a strong point. Maybe more of a fashion item than an appliance. Nice looking stainless kettle with a snazzy blue light that lights up the water when operating. Looks good on the bench, & something to talk about to visitors while waiting to boil. After 18… Read more
months the whistle stopped working. Also the "stainless" handle turned out to be a thin coating over plastic which has now worn through.
After 2 years the lid stopped opening, & has now fallen off.
