Purchased this toaster at The Good Guys on 11th August. Spent days trying to get a decent slice of toasted bread. It would either toast one side and burn the other, or toast one side and the other was still white. Tried every setting and in between settings. The specs also claimed "extra deep slots, no bread left untoasted". We were using standard… Read more
Woolworths bread and the centering cage only just covered it so I would hate to see what would happen with larger slices. Very disappointed. Returned it yesterday full a full refund. Will continue with my old 2 slice toaster for now. At least it toasts both sides.
The first thing I noticed was the weight, this toaster is lighter than it looks like it should be, there are also parts on the toaster, that look metal on the package, but they are just black plastic on the toaster itself. The levers to lower the toast feel very cheap. I am surprised that this has a 2 year warranty, this is my first experience… Read more
with the brand, and it looks like supermarket quality, trying to look decent, the brand name is a part of the marketing.
It does toast very well though, very even, but it is sooooooooooo slow.
Bread Warmer – Dud. More a bread warmer than a toaster. Takes about 10 minutes to even get a faint blush on the bread, have to re-do 2 or 3 times for darker toast. Show details
Very good toaster both in looks and function – Needed a 4 slice toaster for a growing family, but didn't want a top end one. This toaster does a very good job, used for both bread and crumpets. Toast has never got stuck to date, unlike some previous units we've had. Show details
Rubbish – Slow, slow, slow. If you've got 15 minutes too spare it will lightly brown a piece of bread. I'm not that patient. Build quality isn't great either, the push down leaver feels flimsy and often doesn't engage. Like most things now days, it's built to a price, cheap, so you're paying for brand identity. Not what I expected for the price,BUT I haven't got the patience to wait for the toast to cook. It is so slow – White sound dought, crumpets, sliced white. Other settings do not improve things. Turn up timer cooking is still slow but toast burbs before popping. All bread is slow to toast. No sticking, slice width capacity is good. Show details
Needed a new toaster – Needed to buy a new toaster and saw the Russell Hobbs toaster advertised. I absolutely love the fact that each side has its own setting. It cooks bread/ crumpets whatever to perfection. Very stylish and looks beautiful in my kitchen. Very happy with the purchase. Show details
Good Toaster – Bought this toaster a year ago has been good, plenty of options and fairly good all round toasting.Would recommend Russell Hobbs good product. No problems at the moment.Bought from The Good Guys. Show details
Good bread warmer – Great for hot bread but unfortunately toasting takes a couple of rounds. I mainly toast bread that has come out of the freezer but the toaster will not toast it in one shot so it certainly takes some time to reach the dinner plate. The matching kettle is pretty good but I purchased both as a matching pair and it is disappointing that if I replace the "bread warmer" with something that toasts I will not have matching appliances in the kitchen. Excellent toaster – The first toaster we have owned in 50+ years that consistently produces good toast. It's quite large but worth the counter space. The dual controls are an asset. Cant fault it.
Looks great but the build quality isn't great – We wanted to get something that matched our kitchen colours so went for the white Russell Hobbs. Our previous 4 slice toaster has two long slots whereas this one has four single slots. The plus I guess is that you can make two batches of toast with a different 'doneness' but the minus is that it takes up a little more room. The plunger (?) thing… Read more
is a little flimsy and you have to give it a shove so it clicks down. The toaster also tips over towards you when you press to take the bread down. The browning knobs are also a little on the flimsy side. On balance, it does the job and looks nice but I don't know how long it will last.
Great Toaster – After the untimely death of my Anco toaster I decided to replace it with a toaster that actually did a good job . The Russell Hobbs Legacy 4 slice toaster was my choice ---in pink but more on that latter--and it just happened to be on clearance at the Good Guys PMQ at $39 ,. a great price , but would it perform or be a dud toaster like it's… Read more
predecessor ? Well perform it did , I followed the instructions by putting it on the highest settings , twice , unladen to cure the elements then the next morning I loaded the toaster , set it on setting 4 and away I went . To my surprise my toast was perfect , a nice golden brown so no more cranking to maxim and having toast that was only good if you had a hangover. As you would expect it has the usual defrost , cancel and reheat buttons , backlit in blue. The toast setting dials are simple and accurate , also very good when I dialled back a little to lightly toast some hot cross buns , the gates close well to grip your toast and the high lift works great . The toaster has a very nice contemporary look that will go in any kitchen . Now for the color , for some reason pink was the cheapest color , if I wanted black or red it was $10 more expensive , so maybe pink is not so popular a color . These toasters usually retail for more than double what I paid so maybe its a end of model but nevertheless a great toaster that does a good job
