Very noisy and I will be returning it. The kettle I found during a curbside cleanup in the 90s was quieter.

If you are looking for a quiet kettle, this is not the kettle for you. It is actually the opposite and one of the loudest kettles I’ve ever owned. We bought this Russell Hobbs Kettle based solely on what we were looking for and what the name states… Read more

“Quiet Kettle” and were disappointed and confused about how the reality is different from the name and logo it claims to be. After two months, we noticed water damage around the bottom of the kettle and found this water was slowly leaking from one of the clear window panels, after it had been boiled. We purchased this Russell Hobbs ”Quiet Kettle” from Harvey Norman and returned it with our receipt and warranty and they were surprised at seeing the damage done by the leaking water after this short amount of time. They were very helpful in offering us a refund or choice to replace it for a different kettle of our choice. Thank you Harvey Norman. Unfortunately, after this experience, I would not recommend this model of Russell Hobbs kettle to anyone.

Follow-up  · The handle was of good size, allowing plenty of room for your hand to fit into. The lid popped open with the push of a button located at the top of the handle which was a good feature of this kettle. Unfortunately this kettle wasn’t quick to boil, compared to others in its price range.

I purchased this based on the recommendation of Choice, who noted that it was “Quiet”. It’s false advertising as the noise is enough to drown out the television. If this is their quiet model, heaven forbid the noise of their other kettles. Show details

Good functioning kettle, looks nice on the bench and pours well , however we brought it specifically for the quiet factor- it is possibly the noisiest kettle I’ve ever used . Do NOT buy if you are looking to buy something quiet , feeling quite disappointed . Show details

After months of research I bought this kettle, hoping that it would be at least a little quieter than other kettles. I took it home, fired it up and guess what - IT IS NO QUIETER THAN ANY OTHER KETTLE! My existing $15 Big W Contempo kettle was the same noise level, and possibly even slightly quieter (I don't have a decibel meter to test exactly,… Read more

so just judging by ear).

I know what a quiet kettle can be, as I have seen some in Asia. At this point I will probably try importing one of those. As for Russell Hobbs, after this debacle, I won't trust any of their claims from now on. Fortunately, Good Guys gave me a refund so thumbs up to them for doing the right thing by the customer.

I wish Id read these reviews before buying this 'quiet' kettle. Its anything but. Like others, I need to turn up the TV volume when using it. Very disappointing. If you want a quiet kettle, this is not for you. Show details

Is it possible to give zero stars? This could possibly be the LOUDEST kettle I’ve ever owned. It was quiet for its first use then since the second use it is loud enough to wake my sleeping children in the morning. Absolutely do not purchase this kettle.

I only purchased this kettle as it was meant to be “quiet” This thing sounds like a jet engine. Probably the worst purchase I have made solely based off false advertising. I feel scammed. Should be advertised as worlds loudest kettle Show details

It doesn't beep when the kettle is boiled. That's the only thing quiet about it. The actual boiling is louder than any kettle I can remember. So much so it is hard to have a conversation with someone at the same time. DO NOT BUY THIS if you are looking for a quiet kettle. I'm not sure what they are claiming is quiet. Show details

No! Not a quiet kettle by any stretch of the imagination. Louder, in fact, than most. Yes, it does boil water reasonably efficiently, but it makes a high pitched noise interspersed with alarming crackling sounds while doing so. How Russell Hobbs can claim this is a quiet kettle is astounding. They seem intent on ruining their reputation in the quest for sales. Shame on them! Show details

I bought this kettle as it is advertised as quiet. Also I thought a Russell Hobs kettle is a good brand. I must say it is a good price, however quiet it is not. My old cheap Sunbeam kettle which I had for 7 years was so much quieter than this. It is laughable how loud it is. Though must say I like the look of it. Show details

Bought it soley on the "Quiet" aspect. As advertised, it was a lot quieter than our previous stainless steel kettle. Boils reasonably fast. Easy to read water level indicator. The outside does get hot which is not surprising given it's a kettle. The chord is only about one metre, but this was ample for our kitchen. Show details

I’m basing my review purely on how loud this kettle is, because in our open-plan rental, my partner drinks a ridiculous amount of coffee. I didn’t want to have to pause the TV every time he boiled the kettle. For context, I filmed a short clip while sitting about four metres away from the kettle, watching a YouTube video on my laptop at normal… Read more

volume (not full). The kettle doesn’t completely drown out the sound, but it creates so much distortion, like a loud white noise, that it’s uncomfortable to listen to.

I’m genuinely disappointed. To claim this kettle is quiet feels misleading. It’s no quieter than a standard kettle and definitely not worth the price if you’re buying it for the “quiet boil” feature.

Best Quiet Kettle – After having several kettles over the years I thought it wasn’t possible to find a quiet one . Some were very good brands but one sounded like it was cooking popcorn with the popping sound it was making while boiling the water . Saw the Russel Hobbs one advertised as a Quiet one so decided to give it a try . True to its word it is quiet when… Read more

The ideal quiet kettle – Bought this jug mid Jan'25 at Good Guys Tweed Sth after a couple wks checking out a few brands & models. We read the product reviews here & found some were unhappy with this model. But in the end we chose to go with it. Well, it has turned out to be the quietest jug we have ever owned! We always use filtered water to boil in our jug/kettles. You… Read more ·  1

can see the water level easily because its on the side & it boils very quickly. (Half jug full about 1min 30sec)

Ours sits on a granite benchtop. Im thinking that others may have their jug sitting on a plywood bench or similar which may make the noise more noticable.

We have an open kitchen/dining/lounge living space and we used to have to pause the TV while boiling the jug. Now, we dont notice the sound at all when in the dining or lounge area.

Anyway, couldn't be happier & would definitely recommend this model for quietness!!

This is ridiculous – First kettle leaked booking water from the water level window; second kettle stopped being quiet within months. It is now noisier than a normal kettle that doesn't call itself 'quiet'. Cannot have a conversation in the same room, can't hear the TV in the next room, wakes everyone in the household up despite them being very hard of hearing. After… Read more

leaving an honest review on a different site, was advised by a RH representative to get in touch via email, which I did. The person who replied could not have cared less. I was offered a replacement & I explained that I needed a quiet kettle. The person said "we don't have any other kettles with 'quiet' in the title" - so basically she searched for "quiet" and left it at that. I did my own research and found another RH kettle that claimed to be quiet, which she should have offered. On reading the reviews, that one is also massively faulty. So that was the end of the help I was promised. This morning I have a third fault - when pouring the boiling water, steam went up my sleeve! Seems to be escaping from under the handle, near the on/off switch as there was condensation all around the area. This is ridiculous.

Not a very quiet kettle! – This kettle is very LOUD. When I boil the kettle I have to turn the television volume up because the television can't be heard.
