Died after 5 years with multiple breakdowns – Complete waste of money. Only lasted 5 years with multiple breakdowns (temp display not working and food thawing out) Self diagnosis doesn't work as you can't read the display Circuit board and display panel both broken down and not worth repairing Difficult to put food in the drawers and to clean them - can't pull them out unless the doors are extended. Bought from Harvey Norman Show details
awful shelves – We have had this fridge for a couple of years now with none of the breakdown issues Ive just read about (thankgod). BUT while cleaning the fridge recently I noticed that the plastic edging of the shelves was cracked. I was freaking out thinking that it was our fault (being too heavyhanded or putting something too heavy on them) but reading these I… Read more
can see that this probably isnt the case. We also had a door shelf in the fridge break about 1 year in. I have had no issues with quality of produce etc we also find that to open the drawers properly you need to fully open the door. Overall I have found this to be a good and reliable fridge freezer.
Consistent wig outs with this fridge. Looks great. Disappointing performance – On the whole the fridge looks great and is relatively easy to clean inside. Outside is especially easy. Simple display and functions. Great shelving space in the doors, though ridiculous drawers which only open halfway and don't keep produce fresh for long. The problem is that you never know when it is going to just wig out and stop. I have… Read more
refrained from writing a review or calling Samsung for years as it would be a waste of time. Precious time on the merry go round that I don't have.
I am an electrician, and repairing the fridge isn't even worth my while. Secondly, I would have felt guilty selling the unit to someone else, no matter how much for when it got going again.
The freezer shut down for the seventh time yesterday, dusting another $200+ of food. I am really annoyed with it.
Lucky it has been relegated to the garage as the beer fridge 5 months ago.
The self diagnosis on start up is of no value if you cannot read the display. This began to disappear on the first wig out. This was two months old. Happened three times in the first 3 months during christmas 2012. Have lost more money in food value with this fridge than the price of the fridge.
So using the diagnosis when powered up is also useless if you cannot read the faulty display. Has lost enough parts of numbers over time to be illegible for temperature values or error codes.
To think that a fridge needs to be rebooted so often is strange. Would love to see Samsung help out those who reported their problems early, which all seem to be generic.
Now I have a fridge that is still in mint condition inside and out, that is useless without the freezer. Pity I just gave away my two Westinghouse upside down fridges that were also perfect. 17 years and 8 years respectively that never, ever missed a beat.
Huge lump of rubbish - will never touch Samsung again – had this unit just one month then although the digital readout showed correct temp the food all thawed. Lost all the frozen food - rang Samsung to complain and they advised me to turn the unit off then back on 15 min later - it worked (funny this wasn't in the instructions) Has happen 3 times since had new electronics installed it has just… Read more
done it again - no satisfaction from the company they just don't want to know you once you purchase their product - I will never touch a Samsung product again
Does not perform – I bought this fridge over other brands because of the extra storage for fresh produce. Our family each lots of fruit and veges and I only have time to shop once a week. This fridge does not keep fresh produce fresh and I am disappointed by the lack of "preservation" this fridge provides. I am forced to keep all fruit and veges in plastic bags,… Read more
which then get lost in the drawers that don't open fully. I am lucky to get 4 days out of most of my fruit and veges, and 3 days with things like cucumbers and lettuce. I went in to Domayne and the guy I talked to raved about Samsung fridges and said because of twin cooling and their humidity control I shouldn't have this issue, that it's the best type to get.
The one good thing I can say about this fridge is that it's taught me to buy fresh and not store things. It looks good, ice maker is great but takes up a whole shelf in the freezer Does not "preserve" fruit and veges, forced the keep it all bagged which is frustrating, drawers don't open fully, must open fridge door fully to access drawers, freeze burns on meat in freezer regularly
Terrible should be taken out of stores all together – Got this less than two years ago seemed ok at first got talked into buying it at Harvey Norman store said it was great drawers to hard to open and not a lot of room in the freezer got home yesterday and everything in my freezer is thawed n ruined freezer seems to be working but put it on power freeze over night looked this morning and nothing… Read more
still not working everything is thawed still n melting ice cream over $250 worth of meat and perishables wasted not a good fridge don't buy we've been tricked into thinking its a good fridge by the stores desperate to get rid of the junk out of their store any suggestions how to force Samsung to give us a credit for what we paid so we can buy another different brand fridge as we don't want replacement or this to keep happening like it has to others don't know what to do but just got paid n wasted $250 on food that perished two days later note we bought the food on Friday n was broken down on sunday morning
Broken down just inside of two years unexpected would not have bought if we knew it was this bad
Fridge major break down after 1 month – Our Samsung SRS713GNIS is only 1 month old and it's broken - the main power board needs replacing. Just found that the food was not cold and that the ice-cream had melted. Rebooted and called Samsung who booked a service....have been waiting for the part for a couple of days, which is not great when your food is perishing from the inconsistent… Read more
temp. By the way, the main power board needs replacing.
Was I expecting too much for the fridge to work without issue for more than a month,
Want to return it for a fridge that works, but after reading other posts, it seems that that is unlikely.
Hi I need to update my post to let you know that my fridge has broken down 17 months after the first breakdown. The fridge was full of food which quickly went off and had to been thrown out.
Hmmm, not even 2 years old. Very disappointed Samsung Big capacity Samsung should disclose that the Samsung SRS713GNIS will only work for 1 month and then you need to throw it away and buy a new fridge
Good fridge, terrible shelves (break easily) – Overall I find this a good and spacious refrigerator. I've had none of the breakdown issues I've read from some other reviewers here, though I share the frustration with the need to fully open the door to get good access to the inside of the vegetable drawers. My only issue is the two bottom shelves, and I am amazed nobody else found this. Maybe… Read more
my kids are a bit heavy handed, but still, I have never had this problem before. The two lower shelves simply cannot handle the load from large milk & juice bottles etc. The clear plastic broke very early in the piece, and the white supporting shelves cracked soon thereafter. Both are broken, and I've super-glued them up more times than I can count...time to buy new ones.
I had hoped this was covered by warranty, but as I bought from 2nds world it looks like I traded a discount price for the manufacturer warranty, and the extended warranty option I purchased does not cover such items. Warning if door left open. Spacious. mostly just the brittle and easily broken lower shelves
Have you tried turning it off and on again???? – My Samsung has been in my kitchen for 9 months, fridge warm, freezer defrosted. Called Samsung, gave me a number, not the closest service centre, cant come for 10 days! Rang samsung again, another number, but all the Samsung repairers are in Sydney at training! Anyway this guy can come tuesday, also my display has lost some of the lcd display. My… Read more
very clever daughter said, "have you tried turning it off and on again?" Skeptical, I left it off for a few hours and this morning I have just turned it on and it is working again. I would recommend this as your first attempt to get the fridge going again, but I am still getting the technician out to check it and replace the display under warranty. The techs wife told me a surge arrester is a good idea because a surge of power can wreck the fridge computer, something that would be handy to know before our fridges blow up! Also washing machines can be affected by power surges. I hope this helps :)
Heap of crap!!! – Had it for 8 months. broke down. lost all the food in the fridge & freezer. i did notice that the food hadn't been as cold for a couple of days but assumed the kids may have played with the temperature on the display. It broke down on a friday morning (breakfast time:()called them at 9am and would not send anybody till Monday or Tuesday. I hurled… Read more
some abuse and managed to get a tech out on saturday but could not fix it. i don't even think he knew what was wrong with it. called samsung this morning and they have not heard from the technician!!! wonderful. Do not buy a samsung. a fridge should not break down after 8 months. I even paid $2200 for it. Stick to a kelvinator or westinghouse! Large - looks good. when you open the vegie draws to take them out you have to open the door all the way but the draws still manage to scratch the outside sides of the doors. Noticeable because it's stainless steel. bad customer service from samsung!!!
It's been nearly 3 weeks now and i still don't have a working fridge. Have contacted Fair trading… Read more
Why do fridges need a reboot? I can mange that with a PC but a Fridge!!!!!! – Bought fridge Mid April 2011 within 1 week fridge and freezer started warming up smelling and general condensation on milk and water bottles. (Night before I had put a cooling cooked corn beef on middle shelf) next morning front panel indicated all was good Fridge 3Deg Freezer -23Deg (completely wrong and there was no blinking like the manual said… Read more
it could be) Fridge making normal fan noises after opening and closing doors(Sides or front floor not warm they normally are)
Called Samsung 9 AM no tech available until next day. With the food rapidly spoiling decided to look for self-diagnostics test sequence on the net (Hold freezer and Fridge keys for 8 sec will beep or Ding dong) No error found.
Looked at the back of the fridge found out that a POST(Power on self-test) is performed each time the fridge is power cycled.
Switched off the fridge for 1 minute. POST had no errors. Control panel started indicating what I would seem a reasonably approximation of the current freezer and fridge temp (-1 and 13) started to make louder (normal) noises after a 10 minutes or less the out sides and front floor warming :) fridge and freezer starting to drop in temperature. Eventually fridge back normal operation. Lots of spoiled food with 5 people and just after payday
Tech arrives next day (was not going to cancel at least want a record of the event in Samsung's system) fridge working fine. He looks in the fridge and freezer sees no issue fridge is cold. No self-test. Says it could be ice build-up on the evaporator blocking air flow.
Approx. 6 months later (Nov 2011) Today was 33Deg with a slightly humid little rain (no power issues)
Tonight noticed the condensation was back on the Milk and water containers (fridge control panel -23Deg and 2Deg)
Self-test fine. Outside sides or front floor not warm.
Restarted fridge (Added a power lead I can disconnect and not have to move the fridge) POST was all clear. Now working and at normal temp in 1.5 hours
I won't call Samsung because when they come out there will be no issue and I'm not in a position to allow my food to spoil again.
As the weather heats up and get more humid I'll keep checking. I think it's a firmware bug or defrost as it works straight after a reboot once you notice it. Looks great. Big. LED lighting. reasonable cost $2100 with Extended Waranty It has need 2 reboots in 6 Months. Fridges are/were made to just run
Mine is doing something similar. Just had a tech come out and he's replaced the mainboard but the… Read more
its huge. fits everything I need – Very happy with fridge.no problems so far, looks great, works well and for a family of 7 plenty of room for all that we need. I like the three veg drawers, err user two for veg and ones for meats. there is A half Shelf to allow storage of tall bottles. There is a light on every which is really handy too. Very happy customer. its size is what… Read more
decided us.it could still gout into our fridge slot in the kitchen but bigger, good price, and loss great. the veg drawers do need the fridge door completely open which is a very petty annoyance rather than a problem
Have eliminated the need for a chest freezer – This is a quiet fridge! The freezer is great for getting your food in and out of, no digging to find things! The warning beeper lets you know the doors are left open and great when you have small kids who open and close the door during summer. There is ample shelf space and if you think its not big enough, I would ask how often you clean out the… Read more

Know better, choose better.
Great Fridge – This Samsung side by side is a great unit. I am very pleased with it, after owning a Westinghouse, it is a dream. Easy to clean, and economical with power usage. The alarm can become a bit annoying when you are unpacking your groceries, but it can be remedied by closing the door quickly. I recommend it. Easy to clean, quiet.
Great appliance – I am very happy with our side by side fridge freezer. Performs well. Lots of room inside. I like the easy to pull out drawers. An alarm to let me know that the door is not closed. Great when food items are sticking out too far and you dont realise the door didn't quite close. Or children who forget to close it ! The unit Looks nice. Easy to clean.… Read more
Quiet. I love the freezer ice drawer to store ice and a tray that flips the ice once set at the turn of the dials. 3 desperate dials with 3 ice trays so you can use them one at a time. Storage shelves in the freezer door is great also. Looks nice and efficient. Cant find anything to fault
Fantastic fridge – Great fridge. It has to be the best one I have had so far. Like the led lighting. Good use of space. No problem storing heaps of food in it. Had it for a few months now and no problems at all. Got a massive discount on it at harvey norman. Highly recommend it. reliable, shelving and draws, led lighting, chill option Show 2 replies
