Serious deign faults – 8 Years old now ❌ (within months of purchase) Drying process poorly engineered - The circuit filled with lint, undissolved detergent powder. The fan has to be serviced every few months requiring a dismantle and its rotor cleared of detritus. The drying is VERY VERY slow. ❌ No convenient way to stop a load and drain the machine. You have to switch… Read more
off, unplug and re-start a cycle, wait for the tub to drain then switch off. The door is then locked for 3 minutes before you can open it and do anything. ❌ (within months of purchase) The door seal is of poor material and very easily damaged. Had to replace the seal due to LEAKING (Relatively easy to source and replace - Cost me around $100 and about an hour) ❌ (at 5 years old) Developed leaks around detergent drawer. After a very lengthy period of diagnosis trying and testing a range of causes it ended up that the inlet manifold above the detergent tray had developed a hairline virtually invisible crack that allowed water to spray towards the front of the drawer. This problem cost days of time and $120 to replace the part. ❌ (at 5 years old) The rubber coating to the feet has perished and deteriorated so it leaves black marks on the floor when the machine has to be slid out (Which is VERY often).
Imperfect, flawed, and breaks down far too quickly. Samsung – I bought it 6 years ago. Seemed a lot better than previous Daewoo, but should have bought LG. Done about 5 years worth of washing cloths and sheets enough for a family. In three years, it had started to break down. A lot of hassles, long time to get fixed at a stretch and parts from overseas took a long time, so much money at the laundry mat,… Read more
didn't cover me. Washing with less and less plastic cloths lifting barrel fins. They fell apart, plastic. Replacements 10x too much and poor quality, metal the way to go. Law says reasonable expectation, but they do three months warranty on parts that should last 20 years, like fins. Very light weight connection tab supports on fins, so one broke off again within a year or so. Had extra warranty, which covers what law says anyway. So, got heaps of repairs within extended warranty to operate well, except service man talked me into going along with spin dry going more unbalanced being from medium load (which should never be the case. People finding their cloths undried, might be from bad spinner unbalancing and cancelling the load semi washed. But no error code to tell me it failed and to rewash). Heaps of lint, no option to use more water to do job better. Need lint catcher. Lint gets in heating air flow and fan, reducing heating. Condenser dryer very poor. Though no low temperature timed clean, you can time it from experience. If it dries out too much, it causes temperature to go up a lot, so risky. No, true dry, end cycle option. Dryer is no where near hot enough for sterilisation normally.
Spin has gotten worse since, but still infrequent, can load and spin properly, but next cycle maybe bad at times. Sometimes takes extreme times to balance cloths, and even not and stop, display error, and turn off before you get to see error. The destabilization is from the suspension struts (The Daewoo was far worse). Is more durable than Daewoo, but less so than my friend's LG (which he was given in exchange after his first two new Samsung's broke).
Very bad time with each type of Samsung product, in ways which should not happen. Have been fortunate that they have covered me here, after a lot of hassle.
However, the quality of this washer is not good, should last 20 years, my brother's lasted maybe up to near 40 years. It gets three stars, because as bad as it may seem, that's the sort of thing you get with front loaders, and I was covered.
Needs better 10-20 year average life construction (and parts) for huge price, metal drum lifting fins, heat pump drying, window to add cloths, steam function, dial in amount of water, dial in max temperature, dial in time. True dry low temperature, true dry high temperature, and whatever else mentioned in these reviews. Washer dryers front loaded, are massively over priced waste, they should be built to price with ten year warranty. Without these flaws, $500 value.
2nd washer/dryer - 2nd major fault – Ive had this product for 3 years now, and my god - its rubbish! The 1st washer/dryer broke a seal at the back and flooded my old house after a week. Samsung eventually agreed to replace it with a new machine. Now i constantly get "AE error" on the machine. Its cactus. WHen it was working - the wash component was loud, but clothes came out… Read more
fine
THe dryer - doesnt dry very well, you have to learn to hang our clothes out to dry after running the dry component.
Seriously - please take my advice and avoid! - if you havent ... good luck
Washes but doesn't dry – Washes ok Has a liquid dispenser Quick wash 15m, next shortest is 1hr Not very flexible in changing settings, eg 15min wash can't be set with 1400rpm spin Supposed automatic dry does not work, initial dry time might say 2 hrs, but after incorrectly judging moisture it stops after 30min. No way to set a fixed time combined with low temp dry.… Read more
I can't see how Samsung washer/dryer technology would improve in newer washers.
My previous LG washer/dryer was awesome.
The best way a Samsung washer/dryer would actually dry is if it caught fire, like with other models. Lucky it's discontinued.
Update: dryer action now has an error. The machine is just a washer now.
Great wash, simple drying – I really like how easy it is to wash and dry. Many people complain about the dry but it's the same with all condenser dryers they will dry it 90% and you can air dry the rest. Saves me on ironing ever ! Very good machine, reliable. Yes it takes a while to do both cycles but can program overnight time delay which is great! Show details
Bad Product, Even Worse Customer Service, Will Never Buy Samsung Again – When only 18 month old, when running washing and drying program, the machine would not run the dry cycle, resulting with wet clothes in the washing machine. Reported to Samsung and they agreed to have a technician to have a look. Now, after 10 phone calls, 5 emails, 3 technician visits and 4 months later, I am still in the same situation. … Read more
Nothing has been fixed.
No resolution plan laid out.
Problem is ignored by samsung (I guess they are hoping the problem will magically go away).
Samsung would say what they will do and never do it.
Its one thing to have products recalls and phones that light on fire, but its another to not solve problems promptly and effectively.
I will never purchase another samsung product for the rest of my life.
Great Washer but terrible Dryer – I love the load capacity for the washer, but the dryer is terrible and mostly never dries on the first run. I love Samsung products but this isnt one of them. I own nearly everything Samsung in the house but I think I will need to revert back to a proper dryer.
So 3yrs on and if I could give a negative number I would, this was the worst white goods product… Read more (+1 reply)
This machine is fantastic after two months – Have set my personal settings and does a great job. Have used the dryer a few times with the wash cycle and it goes really well..usually put it on overnight as it takes 3 hrs. So easy to use and love the 15 minute wash cycle for quick wash. Another hassle gone from house work!
Wish I had never bought it – purchasing this machine is one of my biggest regrets ever. It would randomly not run the dry cycle so I would go back and find clothes still wet after sitting in the machine all night. At first I thought it was just me not selecting the right things but it became increasingly frequent despite me being very careful in my selections and following… Read more
the instructions in the book.
Then I started getting different error codes. managed to resolve these by following the instructions in the manual but it was very inconvenient to be doing to frequently. Then one day I noticed this strong burning smell and the machine starting making a weird beeping noise and giving different error codes. At this point I had only had the machine for 6 weeks. It then stopped working completely. Rang Samsung immediately, they arranged a technician. I had a day off work, stayed home all day waiting and the tech never showed up. Took another two days to get back in touch with Samsung as they kept disconnecting my calls after holding for 10 mins. They advised it was lucky we called as the technician had declined the job as they don't service our area.
Samsung then arranged another tech, he did show up. But he needed to order parts which he said should only take a couple of days. It has now been four weeks and numerous calls to the tech and to Samsung. EVERY time I have called Samsung the call has been disconnected after talking to someone for 20-25 mins. You have to explain everything from scratch with each person. It has been an incredibly frustrating experience. I got fed up and asked initially for a replacement machine and then a week later when still not resolved for a refund. Samsung advised me that I would have to chase their technician myself to get a report before they would review my request. We have been trying to do this but the tech now won't return our calls.
I understand sometimes things have faults but my experience with Samsung was so bad that I will not purchase another Samsung product again, not because of the products themselves but because of the lack of customer service, support and assistance
This is terrible washing machine, support service is really bad! Never buy it! – after 2 years, we seldom use drying model, but recently, HE2 error code comes again and again, we checked with Samsung website, nothing helpful. Althought, we put less than 6kg clothes in cube for drying, sometimes, after 3 hours cycle, it is still wet. If you want to call call center to solve this issue, Service is really bad from Samsung. I… Read more
called Samsung support and service 130 hotline, the first support lady didn't help at all! furthermore, she asked me to provide S/N, it is on the BOTTOM of machine(it is heavy!)/
Again, i will never buy
We asked for another spare change last week!
Great Washer/Dryer – I bought this machine almost 2 months ago now, and at the time read another review which said it was horrible about an hour after I had bought it, that review could be more wrong! Now, having actually used it I have discovered the following. The default settings are as described by the bad review I read, however, after playing with the… Read more
settings for a while have discovered, I can set it to wash for 15 minutes, or 30 minutes, or an hour, or an hour and a half, or 2 hours, etc etc...
Also, after setting the desired washing time/type, I simply press the "Dryer button" repeatedly until it adds an hour and a half to the the timer, so if I set it to wash for an hour, then I press the dryer button until the timer reads 2½ hours, (the dryer can also be set in 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes intervals etc)
Then 2½ hours later, it's washed, dried, and ready to put away/iron or wear.
It does have one annoying feature though, if the drum is hot, it can take up to 5 minutes at the cycles completion to unlock the child safety lock.
It did have an odd smell for the 1st few washes, but that was eliminated by removing packing which was in the main barrel + use of scented fabric softener.
Conclusion - Upon 1st use it seemed rubbish, but after trial and error use of the features, it's the best machine I've ever owned!
Just a quick note on haggling, the best time to haggle is when a product is over stocked as they just want to get rid of most of that stock asap and are more open price reduction, it should be noted I actually payed $749, but negotiated free delivery ($49) so really got it for a sweet $700 + Delivery fee.
Knowing what I know now, I would have been willing to pay up to $1400 - $1500 in the absence of an "overstocked" sale. I can set it at night, and wake up to clean, often still warm clothing. Child safety lock makes you wait upto 5 minutes past the finish time expected based on the count down timer when the barrel is hot from drying.
