Scanpan non stick does last – I have read a lot of the reviews on this site and most of them I cannot agree with. Scanpan starts off very non stick and lasts for a long time, I would say at least 5 years. But it requires input from you, the user, to ensure this happens. There is carbon build-up, it is unavoidable. If you really want the non stick to last you must clean by… Read more · 1
hand using a nylon scourer every time. There is a perception that non stick pans need to be cleaned with a soft cloth or sponge, but this is not the case with Scanpan. I took my pan in after 6 years and complained about the fact that it was sticking, and I was told to follow a procedure to get the carbon off. I did this and it was great again. Olive oil will produce more carbon than coconut oil. If you cook at high heat you will get more carbon buildup no matter what oil you use. I have abused my pan in this regard and generally heat it up too much before putting virgin olive oil on, and I have still got pretty good life out of it.
SCANPAN AFTER SALES WARRANTY ISSUES VERY POORLY HANDLED – Stew pot SCANPAN purchased brand new. Costing on the outside wearing off. Inside is fine. SHELDON AND HAMMOND importers of the product will not accept product fault. DO NOT BUY SCANPAN. Why offer warranty? I am taking this matter to fair trading.only way to go. I only use Scanpans. Over the years the product is getting worse.

Disappointing Coating Durability – I purchased a Scanpan pan set years ago, attracted by the promise of a 10-year warranty and the reputation for durability. Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing. While the pans performed well initially, the non-stick coating has deteriorated significantly over time, despite proper care and maintenance. I'm disappointed in Scanpan's… Read more
failure to deliver on their warranty promise. The coating's durability is a critical aspect of a non-stick pan.
The marks due to aging on the coating remains, contrary to claims, 2 of my saute/grill pans after boiling with baking soda and subsequent elbow rub with scouring pad still remain the same.
Perhaps the 10 year warranty needs to be clearer.
I have scanpan saute/frying pans, pot, wok and roasting pan etc. In short someone who loves his scanpan products but time reveals the flaws.
If the previous coating is so durable and lasting, Scanpan doesn't have to come up with Stratanium and Stratanium+ as improvement so my point is why offer 10y warranty when the coating cannot last that many years.
The initial reviews are all good but time will tell as years are added. I have been using close to 8-9 years.
Hello Kelvin. Thank you for taking the time to review SCANPAN. have you been in touch with our Warranties Team?

Promises the world, yet delivers very little, apart from an empty wallet – Originally I bought Scanpan "non-stick" cookware because a friend bought some and it looked great, plus the ceramic/titanium coating they claim to use seemed like it would be a safe and long lasting option. Not so much. All units were treated with care, all according to instructions, and never used on very high heat. Two frypans, a saucepan, and a… Read more
pot were replaced under warranty because, allegedly, they had a production problem and that accounted for the peeling. For some reason the big wok didn't have an issue - at that time. But that's one thing good I can say about Scanpan - their Australian distributor up on the North Shore had very good customer service. But anyway, things were ok for a time. However, something which is apparently made in Denmark, is not cheap, and makes many claims about quality, should not bubble and peel like these have, even after years of careful use. I would expect this level of quality from a Chinese manufacturer, not Dutch. And clearly, I am not the only one with this problem. Stay away.

SCANPAN is terrible!!! Non-stick layer is peeling off after less than 9 months!!! – enclosed are photos from the dealer to show examples of peeling...and so under warranty. And my scanpan shows peeling but not under warranty... reason... the dealer says the food cooking has deposited a thick carbon layer that destroys the non-stick layer!!! what else would i cook? bricks? Discovered the Cleaning Method to Remove Oily Carbon Residue from Ceramic Non-stick Surface – After published the "Poor Quality, Misleading and Not Worth The Money" scanpan review and struggled over 5 months for the very sticking wok, I have made a decision to buy a better quality non-stick wok. But before throwing the scanpan wok to the garbage bin, I thought that if ceramic non-stick surface would be hard enough against to metal spatula,… Read more
why not trying to use a more powerful scrub material before throwing away. I tried using the cleaning stainless steel scourer and it had actually worked - the stainless steel scourer is not only hard enough to very easily remove the oily carbon residue but it is also soft enough to the ceramic non-stick surface without causing any damage to it. Now after oily carbon residue removed, the wok becomes non-stick again to any food source! Wish scanpan manufacturer could provide customer an easy and useful cleaning method instead of those useless instruction to waste customer's time and money!

The reviews on here seem pretty skewed and unreliable – Seems like most people just haven't used theirs properly? My mum has been using her scanpan for like 15 years lol. Honestly I have to admit it is only nonstick now because it is so encrusted with that black stuff can you get with cast iron. Wanted to give 4 stars as I'm going in tomorrow to buy another 28cm one for my mum, from what I can tell,… Read more · 3
the nonstick layer doesn't seem to be coated but appears to be actually part of the pan material itself?
Amazing warranty service – A kind friend made us a meal in her classic Scanpan Roasting Pan. Unfortunately I put it in the dishwasher (as I do with mine and never have a problem) and the non stick bubbled. This was going to be a very expensive meal! Fortunately I was able to contact the warranty team and they very kindly and quickly helped me out. So grateful. I already loved Scanpan cookware, now I love it even more! Show details
A wok that is worth $500 ? – edit: mine si the scanpan stratanium, top of the line with special non stick coating (which is textured). it was bought in a department store so isnt a cheap knock off bought at markets (a common issue if yours blistered soon after purchase it might be a fake) Update to review: now 5 years old. eventually some brownish carbon deposits were… Read more
forming on the bottom half of the pan from continual use and a fair bit of high heat cooking. So I recently put a dishwashing tablet in the pan and simmered it in a LOT of water for some hours to see if the deposits would come off. And after a while, yes they did. So it actually brought the surface back almost 100% to new, which was quite impressive. So I can happily report that after 5 years it still was good as new so so far so good. yes, $500 may well be very good value if it lasts for a very, very long time like this, PERFOMRNG AS NEW.
Original review: Had it for one year on gas and it's still "as new", despite weekly use. At first I found it heavy but that makes it more stable when stirring , and the usually thick and slightly rough textured (PFOA free) non stick coating seems to increase the surface area and heat exchange . .. Perfectly non stick. And the surface seems - as they coaom- much tighter than my other no stick pans. I really the wok and just looked up the handle. It's bakelight and oven safe. Survives dishwasher perfectly well after about 100 cycles. Used on gas stove. Best wok I've had in 30 years. Having tried both traditional thin metal ones and most recently wore out a KitchenAid one after 5 years (the coating seemed fairly ordinary on that one).
On Scanpan Australian website the price is listed as RRP: $479.01 discounted to $289.00 ((this is August 2022)) SKU:17248
So, Shop around I've seen it for 199....
+ Massive size + Stable and fits perfectly in the wok attachment on Electrolux gas cooktop + Really durable non stick coating + Really even heat
- a bit heavy (but stable) - price varies widely
Recommended if you're looking for durable non stick and live to fill a big wok!
In theory I am against disposable pans with a 5 year life span, so for pans other than wok, I am now looking for a cast iron pan for griddle ( where nonstick is just going off at high temps anyway) and for an omelette pan (I am reanimating my cast iron staub for that).

Everything sticks and hard to clean – We also bought our first scanpan, about 12 months ago - a chefs pan with ceramic titanium coating however it does not perform as a non stick pan when used as one occasionally. Hence it rarely gets used now because of the hassle to clean it. Everything sticks and the surface and it cannot be cleaned easily without scrubbing. It also has dark… Read more

Waste of money – Lucky I got this on sale because if I paid full price I would be super peeved. Everything I cooked got stuck and there would be carbon build up. A nightmare to clean. Too many don'ts with this pan. Cooking in a pan should not be this complicated. Show details

Not worth the money – Very disappointing that they rave on about how amazing they are and even on the first use they're crap. Everything sticks, they discolour and incredibly hard to clean Show details

Pitting of surface and loss of non-stick coating – I equipped my kitchen with scanpan classic saucepans, from 10 litre casserole pots to the little gravy pots more than 12 years ago ( the 10L pot is used once every fortnight while the others once a month, if that). I have to replace most pots now as the non-stick coating have long left and the surface have pitted badly, especially on the 10 L pot. Given the cost of Scanpan saucepans and their lack of longevity, I won't be buying scanpan anymore. Show details

Absolute Garbage – This product is a scam. This is not a non stick product, it is absolute rubbish. I never could be bothered to write a review but this company is a disgrace. claims made. Scanpan are no longer stocked is reputable stores due to their poor claims of being decent cookware. They are a disgraceful company and should not be in business. Expensive mistake. Buyers be aware, you are better off with a $20 pan from Woolworths. Their name should be Scampan not Scanpan. Avoid all items from this company.

Disappointing – The pan performed well in the first year and then all of a sudden started releasing horrible smell when heated and food started sticking to the pan. I sent it back for warranty replacement and was told that the carbon build up was the cause of the issue. Seems to me a flaw in the design is causing the carbon build up because the build up can not be removed by normal washing alone. Show details
Poor Quality, Misleading and Not Worth The Money – Scanpan’s titanium ceramic non-stick coating has a rough surface and the tiny gap in the rough surface is highly attracting oily residue. Because there is no way to remove those oily residues behind the non-stick coating surface, it will become carbon residue to fill the tiny gap of the rough surface. This is the cause of Scanpan’s non-stick… Read more
surface sticking. Once this happening, it is consumer’s fault regardless it is not possible to scrub off those carbon residue from the tiny gap of the non-stick coating surface. When I made warranty claim resently, Sheldon and Hammond’s warranty team has responded following: 1. There is no manufacturing defect and the cause of non-stick surface sticking is lack of cleaning. 2. Dishwasher can not be used to clean Scanpan cookware as it can not remove oily residue from the cooking. Consumer must hand wash it using the green side of nylon pad to scrub as hard as you like. Note: we are paying top dollar to buy a non-stick pan in which it requires hard labour to clean it after cooking!!! 3. Scanpan’s user guide requires to clean and re-grease it before first time use. It is clear that oil is required to fill those tiny gap of the rough non-stick surface. But when I told Sheldon and Hammond’s warranty team that after washed in the dishwasher, the pan become very rusty (caused by light reflection from carbon residue in the tiny gap of the rough surface). The reply from them is that “Unfortunately cleaning the Wok in the dishwasher will not remove all the oily residue from cooking. The rusty look on the Wok is the left over carbon that the dishwasher has not been able to remove. Re greasing the Wok after every wash is only making it worse, as this layer is being burnt onto the Wok and essentially you are needing to remove 2 layers after each use of oily residue to keep the pan clean.” 4. The Scanpan clean method provided by Sheldon and Hammond is never work as it is not possible to dissolve & scrub off those carbon residue from the tiny gap of the non-stick coating surface. For daily cooking by using medium heat and plastic utensil, the non-stick surface of the Wok will last around 1.5 year. This is the third replacement Wok as a result of "Bad Manufacturing Quality". Will you like to pay top dollar to buy a non-stick Scanpan with such poor manufacturing quality?
Not worth the money – Product is quite heavy and difficult to clean. Surface became worn quickly. Unfortunately, although I used it as per the directions, the surface became very worn within 2 years. Absolutely not what I expected for the price paid and supposed superior surface compared with cheaper non-stick pans. Pan was difficult to clean and food stuck to the… Read more
surface. I’d advise buying cheaper brands and replacing every 2 years rather than outlaying money for a recognisable brand name.
Absolute rubbish – The pans purchased were NEVER used at high heat, NEVER sprayed with cooking spray, ALWAYS used as directed and gently hand washed (once cooled down) after every use. EVERY. SINGLE. PAN. Has had the non stick surface degraded. Sticks like nothing else. Verdict: After years of trying (with new pans), Scanpan is no different to a cheap Kmart or… Read more
Target pan. The first few months are bliss. Then comes the anger. Don’t waste your money. The warranty isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. Buy cheap $20 pans and throw them out when they lose their non-stick properties
Loved it to begin with, we are now divorced – Absolutely loved my scanpan frypan to begin with, then it betrayed me and started peeling, after 18 months. I have returned it to David Jones and just awaiting an assessment. Currently using an older frypan I had in back of cupboard, which is far far better to use and in comparison for age, has worn much better. I don’t recommend buying scanpan, after the 12 months honeymoon is over it all goes downhill, keep your receipt, you will need it!!! Show details
Extremely sad and very disappointed – I bought two ceramic titanium scan pan fry pans and very disappointed. One is peeling where the base meets the sides and I wonder how dangerous is this.Have looked after them but unfortunately do not have the receipts. They are not worth the money. Extremely disappointed. Have had my Le Creuset casseroles +pan for nearly 40 years and are still serving me well. Never again will I stray. Show details
Terrible product, but customer service 5 stars – I have had a number of Scanpan non stick pans over the years, I have always followed their instructions but with regular use they last approximately 12 - 18 months before they start to stick. The only reason I still have them is that I have kept my receipts, return them to the store of purchase, get them checked and they always give me new ones. Show details

If I could have rated it zero I would have- SCAM PAN! – This has to be the most overpriced rubbish on the market! It starts to lose its non stick pretty early (6months) using silicon and wooden utensils. And yes I have done their recommended carbon build up removal blah blah blah! Its useless, food sticks, bits are coming off into your food and its the coating coming off, not burnt on food etc, I know… Read more

Faulty manufacturing, false guarantees, disappointing customer service – Got a VERY expensive 5 pc non-stick set for anniversary gift. The non-stick coating came off in huge chunks in some pots, exposing multiple layers. Others it started to bubble and then flake off. replaced with a $20 frypan from Kmart (which is still going perfectly!). The other pots and wok we kept in drawer. Lodged a warranty claim and was told to send them back for a full replacement, however I ended up in hospital that week and didn't get to return them. Fast forward in time and now that I'm back on my feet I tried to complete the warranty claim again but was refused. They have just been sitting in drawer gathering dust unused. Am told that the 'lifetime' warranty is only 10 yrs, they believe pots are older than that (they have been sitting unused all that time!), and they even had the nerve to say the damage on the wok is because it just needs a scrub! When I enquired about replacing them earlier they had told me it was a faulty batch with the coating and that they were replacing them all, but a different story now apparently. They are going into the bin. I have noticed dept stores always have scanpan at half price. I don't think it's even worth the half price. Don't bother, get another brand. I understand that nothing lasts forever, but I am disappointed with false promises and false warranty guarantees that come at a huge price.
Dreadful. Don't waste your money – I have a non stick SCANPAN frypan. I bought it perhaps 3 years ago, my first and only SCANPAN item. Perhaps it worked OK the first 4 times but food sticks all the time. I certainly did not use high heat on it, and have never had it in the diswasher or scratched it. It is a total waste of time and food actually sticks more that in a regular frypan… Read more
that has no claim to being non stick. I wonder if it would make a novelty feature in the garden. Don't buy a non stick SCANPAN product.
Don’t buy – I’ve bought thousands of dollars worth of these classic pans. They’re re great for a few uses and even using their own cleaning instructions, no high heat and cleaning with soap and water without scrubbing and never been in the dishwasher, the coating still comes off. I’ve sent many back for replacement over the years and it’s more of a bother than anything. They’re very hard to deal with. Don’t bother Show details
Scanpan Tagine coating failure – The Titanium coating on my 3 week old tagine wiped off after going through the dishwasher (Woolies brand detergent) even though the Kitchen Warehouse website said it was dishwasher safe. WHOLESALER after some exchange of information and photographing (all done on the internet and the post office). Of course you need to provide copy your invoice and return your old ones. They also paid all the freight costs too. It took about a month for the replacement to happen. So if you only have one pan, bad luck ! DON'T GO TO THE DEALERS (SHOPS) AS I HAD BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THEM WHEN MY PANS SHOW SCRATCHES.
The new pans are good and like the other gentleman has the egg sticked to the pan first use but it is all slippery now after the first use, don't know why but we don't care as it is absolutely slippery now.
I saw a lot of people complaining the pans lose their non stick quite quickly but i blame it on the dealers who do not advise buyer of how to clean the pan probably. We were given the "how to clean" brochure after we complaint to the dealer regarding the lost of non stick and the pans have not sticked since we follow the instructions to clean.
I now have another 2 new pans for free which will last for another ?? years (don't care how long because we are happy with 7 years already for the old ones). I will certainly buy Scanpan again.
High priced, non stick isn't that good – I really think it's criminal to say there product is so good so they can slug you with a big price but you find out its not as good as they tell it is. The non stick don't last. Please you will regret. You let them scam you, 2× pots & 1x frypan quickly lost the titanium coating. Show details
Not good – Bought a Scanpan Ceramic Titanium in April 2014 and for the first 6 months it was good but then its non stick started to fail. We used the pan only 2 or 3 times a week and in accordance with the instructions but now, a mere two years the pan's non stick is useless and is discolored. At the same time we also bought a Scanpan Wok which is fine but the flypan was a waste of money - a $8.00 plain label from Coles performed better. . Show details
