I purchased the Scanpan 3 piece impact stainless steel covered saucepans as well as the impact stainless steel 2 piece frypan set from Myer and after diligently and carefully following all cooking and cleaning instructions via Scanpan website my cookware is stained. using steamer insert has dulled/shows spots as in the photos attached. I contacted warranty support and mentioned the above to them including attempts to clean off the stains/spots with bi-carbonate soda paste as well as detergent & water in pan on stove method but neither has helped. They suggested using Bar Keepers Friend or gumption to remove the stains/spots but I aren’t sure I wish to do that as I have already tried the 2 other methods and that hasn’t helped as it is.It is like the stainless steel coating has worn off from the cookware exposing aluminium? I told them I want to return the cookware for a full refund and they told me they don’t directly handle refunds and told me to return the cookware to Myer and enquire about their refund policy? Anyhow I will see how I go. This website could be a lot more user friendly as it is ridiculously difficult to simply upload an image or even a copy of a receipt from an iPhone 14?? Anyhow I will try to upload images and copies of receipts later tonight from my computer.
Purchased the Scanpan Impact Chefs Pan plus glass lid. It was on sale and so represented really good value as a replacement to my aging non-stick pans. I’m writing this review in response to the overwhelming number of poor reviews by people who clearly have no idea how to cook with stainless steel pans. Food sticking? No of course it doesn’t.… Read more
Watch a YouTube video, learn how to cook! The Steelpanguy is a good place to start! Cleaning up? Pretty simple hand wash. Will discolour in dishwasher, but easy remedy with vinegar. I probably won’t dishwasher again! I’m so impressed with this pan I am considering buying another in the series, a smaller skillet to replace the Scanpan black carbon pan I am really not very fond of.

Quality is poor, complete waste of money, health concerns about their manufacturing processes. I bought two saucepans. at first I thought they were great and then very quickly I had issues with both. is it? I was boiling water in the small saucepan and noticed silver flecks and the water was oily. I decided to toss out the water and noticed it was yellow! I have serious concerns not only about their quality but what we have been ingesting. I burn my hand badly on the handles. I've been using Scanpan for years, I recently replaced a couple of pieces and found food sticks to the bottom, even soup seems to burn. Also you can't clean them. As with other reviewers, brown stains are left on the cookware and part of the coating is pitting and chipping off to expose a black interior??. Reading the response from Scanpan for other reviewers they seem to be defending their poor quality. I thought I was buying stainless steel, but no it's aluminium which I don't use. Scanpan states that 'Did you know Scanpan’s cast aluminium lines are made with a recycled core? We source our recycled aluminium alloy from facilities in Norway and Sweden, who recycle scrap metals from soda cans, license plates, and other aluminium products that would otherwise end up in a landfill. 100% of the aluminium in our cookware is recycled!' License plates are exposed to toxic exhaust fumes and chemicals. Recycled materials are great but not for cookware that is heated and any chemicals can be leached into your food. Considering how customer service dismisses customer feedback I can only imagine how the team treat the production team that raise health concerns about their manufacturing processes.

Season your stainless steel wok before using it! – I'm a first time stainless steel wok user. I've relied on my Tefal non-stick wok for almost few years now but the coating started to come off. I also got to know that it's not safe to continue using non-stick pans when the coat starts to peel off. For that reason I went to look for a light, durable stainless steel wok. Most woks were heavy and I… Read more · 1
don't really have strong hands. My only concern with stainless steel pans/woks is the absence of the non-stick coating would make the food get stuck on the pan, and I'm not a big fan of spending hours scrubbing the pan after spending time cooking!
So after lots of research, I bought Scanpan Impact Wok Without Lid, 32cm. I chose the version without lid because my Tefal wok came with a 32cm glass lid and it fitted perfectly with my Scanpan wok. During my research I found out from product reviews where some buyers complained about food sticking on the pan/wok. I was worried, but I found out that by seasoning the wok before your first use, it actually creates an "invisible" non-stick coating. That doesn't mean you should omit oil when cooking. Seasoning the pan removes the chemical used to create the product which is a main contributor to food sticking to the pan. It's important to remove those chemicals by seasoning it. When cooking (after seasoning the pan), I used little oil (classic cooking olive oil/vegetable oil) and set the heat to medium. I found a useful video that shows how to season a stainless steel pan (link below for the benefit of others) and followed the exact steps.
The wok itself (I have the same wok used in the video) was very light and easy to handle. Cleaning is easy if you season them well before first use. One gripe I have is, the heat doesn't distribute all around the wok, it stays at the bottom - not so good if you're looking to cook your food with even heating. I find the no-drip rim design is hazardous because it's sharp, so if you're not careful you could potentially get cut while hand-washing it (hence the reason why I took a star from the rating). Otherwise, it's now my go-to utensil for everything in the kitchen!

This review is to help others make a decision BEFORE buying Scanpan. For mother's day 2025, my husband purchased a set of Scanpan Impact. We should have read reviews before buying. instructions for how to use the cookware, and the instructions for cleaning, however the cookware is left with marks that we cannot remove. I've always been careful with cooking with the gas flame under the stainless-steel pans, and even with my less expensive cook wares, I've never had the issues that I have with Scanpan. I would not recommend this product to anyone. It's expensive and it seems the stainless-steel is of very poor quality. I contacted Scanpan, emailed the warranty team with the receipt and photos, and the response was insulting, suggesting that I had incorrectly used my cookware. I've been cooking for over 40 years, and I know how to use stainless steel pans. I suggest purchasing other brands.
We bought Scanpan impact 10 piece set yesterday and used it Frist time this morning, using the pan only for breakfast, and see the attached pics. SCAMpan – Absolute SCAMpan. Boiling water for my tea on low to medium heat (because I don’t want to damage it) and after the first use there was a brown pot hole and after the third use on another pan I think I’m looking at the aluminium already. Appears like the 1 ply stainless layer has dissolved in patches and now aluminium could possibly be leaching through. Instead of “fast fashion”, it’s “fast cookware”! What an environmental disgrace/heath disgrace.

I love the range & been using it for a long time. However I recently bought the large pot for my son new Miele induction stove and found out it does not work. Self defense against centipedes, when I was cooking my dinner I saw a giant centipede in the kitchen, I have grabbed my largest Scanpan fry pan and placed it on the centipede and it could not move, then I have squashed it. Thank you Scanpan for making 28cm diameter Scanpan frypans it saved me from screaming at a giant centipede.

I agree with the other reviews in that on the first use of my frypans, they discoloured and have a burnt like residue (even though I never left them and had the gas on low). So disappointing and also wished I had read more reviews to be forewarned against buying them. We are in our late 60s and bought a whole new set thinking they would last us a long time but we cant afford to replace them. Show details

Not great – I bought the three piece Scanpan Impact saucepan set and have been pretty disappointed. As mentioned in other reviews the stainless steel marks incredibly easily. use all three of my pans are now marked - one by rice (not burnt rice, just cooked rice), one by hot oil and one just by reheating a ragu.
The sides of the saucepans are incredibly thin which means they get very hot very quickly and unevenly. Food in contact with the thick base of the pan over the flame might be fine, but as you stir and it hits the sides it will burn. Liquids which are just warm in the pan often boil as you pour them out (ie. over the hot sides).
Some other stuff is ok, the lids and handles feel quite nice. But I would definitely be looking elsewhere.

Incredible – Absolutely superb pans. When you know how to use them properly. It's amazing how many bad reviews are being left when you know immediately the person leaving them has used the pan way too hot. Because they have put up pictures showing over heating marks or burnt food stuck in pan. Since buying these incredible pans, I've found I'm using half the heat on my induction cooktop, because the pans heat up so much better. Show details · 1
OK (just...)... but... not a patch on Australian made Raco of 30-50 years ago! – I recently updated my electric cook top to an induction unit and my FABULOUS Raco cookware of approx. 40 years of age (still going strong, yes, some of the knobs and handles replaced along the way...) was not induction suitable, ... disappointed with their lack of design features and performance! Namely (unlike my Aust. made Raco of yesteryear) rivets are used which create lumps/bumps inside the pot surface that "catch" the spoon/implement used to "dish-out" scrape the side of the pot (Raco had externally welded fixings that did not interfere with the inside of the pot). Next, The scanpan pot handles are poorly shaped (thin and concave) and allow the pot to slip/spin when draining over the sink. (Old Raco, were fine in this regard). Scanpan lids, three problems: 1) After prolonged slow boiling, the metal handle does get too hot to safely handle. 2) NO VENT (unlike Raco) which allows the pot to leak liquid (condensate) to the outside of the pot during said "long, slow boil". This is dangerous and makes a mess. 3) The inside shape of the lid (outer edge) holds the condensate... when lifting the lid away from a hot pot, it will drop liquid everywhere unless you tip and drain back into the pot first.!
What a shame that these products today are not made anywhere near as well, as decades ago!!! :(( The sad demise of Australian manufacturing! (... we make so little in Australia these days!) (The uploaded pic has the box set at bottom RHS $395.00)
Overall assessment: A DESIGN FAIL! (... when it should be so easy to get these things right in the first place!) BTW: my induction cooktop works really well! Very happy with THIS choice!

booklet contains very important and specific tips on how to be more gentle with the heat and what to consider when selecting oils etc. Since following the detailed manufacturer’s advice, I’m getting negligible sticking plus I’m happy with the relatively even heat across the utensil achieved using standard domestic sized gas burner on low flame. I feel some adjustments to my cooking style were required as it takes slightly longer to cook using their suggested methods but I’m really impressed with the resulting succulent texture and taste of food. There’s less smoke and smell this way too. Clean up was easy once pan cooled; I then just used some warm (not hot) running water and a brush to remove some residual juices that were a bit gummy on the stainless surface. I had no actual stuck particles of food after frying the burgers and the lack of smoke and smell while cooking was appreciated too. It’s a little more tricky to get a good sear effect with the stainless frypan but I’m sure I’ll be able to discover the best way of achieving this in no time.

Don't expect stainless steel to work like non stick, and don't expect glass to survive drops. The handles do not get hot no matter how high the heat (although I imagine a gas burner with heat escaping up the side could heat them up.) I have not had a single problem in 15 years.
Still learning – I'm still learning, so, bear with me. I stumbled across a Scanpan Impact at an opshop that someone appears to have overheated. The metal inside and out was badly discolored. pans giving up after a while. Figured I had nothing to lose. I was very pleasantly surprised. After taking the time to read the instructions on how to cook with Scanpan Impact stoveware, I was addicted to the pan. So much so, it became my primary pan and all the other coated ones I had got tossed or sent to opshops. And then I bought a complete set of Impact stoveware. Now... Cleaning is critical... do it right... and IT... IS... A... BREEZE! Keep a little vinegar around, splash a little in, let it sit and warm a little (I add a little dish soap and water), put the lid back on to let it 'steep', and NOTHING STICKS. But using the cookware goes further for me. I have always been a 'lefty' at the stove... always used the left-hand front burner. It's one of the larger burners, though still smaller than the bottom of the pan. After getting slightly annoyed that I keep getting slightly burnt bits on the upper sides of the pan, I decided (and this may be one of those things just about everyone knows) to switch to the smaller burner on the right front. Not only am I using less energy to cook with, the extra hot sides don't exist anymore. The moral of that story is that you really don't need burners as big or bigger than that pan. Long and short of it, cleaning is a breeze, no more burnt bits on the sides, no hot handles, and me being much happier every time I use these pans and pots.
AS for anyone complaining about the glass lids being 'fragile', let me relate a little story. I worked with mil-spec tablet computers that were waterproof, NBC compliant, and could survive a dropkick onto a tarmac. In demoing one of them, I tossed it, as I had for several years, across the floor while it was on. Somehow, after several years of doing just that, it caught at 'the perfect angle' and the thick, almost bullet proof glass screen... shattered. In kind, I've dropped several pan lids to the floor... a slate tile floor... to have the edge of the metal rim bent (or no damage at all) and have never experienced a shattered lid. Likewise, I was cooking one with something that spattered a bit, had the lid off to the side (it was cooled off), and placed it back on the pot to have a 'burp' of chili hit the glass and shatter it. I will not stop using glass lids. I'm just a bit more careful about hot and cold and not dropping them. Just saying.
Quite good to cook with, but not sturdy enough – Had these pans for a few years now and was reasonably happy with them. Today a lid feel on the floor (vinyl) from the stove and the glass lid shattered to a million pieces. When I bought them the packaging said something about the glass being tough. It’s not. If the lid was all stainless steel it would never have broken. Seems to me the glass looks nice, but is a bit of design flaw. Show details

casserole dishes, and so much more. In recent years I've started paying more attention to higher quality products with an eye on 'perfection on the stove'. After grabbing a 26cm Scanpan at an opshop that someone had overheated and discolored the metal a little, it quickly became my 'go to' pan in the kitchen. Paying attention to how to preheat, cook, and clean, and it has been better than any of the previous pans I've collected - regardless of the material. Now, I'm sure there are versions of cookware out there that may exceed this, but I have been so happy with it, I splurged... I bought the whole set when it was on sale recently. I have ZERO REGRETS!! I've not cooked with anything that heats so evenly. Sprinkling flour on the pan and heating it, it all turned brown at the exact same rate - very even heating. Even letting some food burn on, following the simple instructions to clean it left it spotless. No elbow grease, no scrubbing. I have several (all gone to op shops now) pieces that would heat the handles while cooking. Lid handles on virtually every pot lid made, no brainer... if the pot is hot, they are hot. The pot handles themselves, again, no brainer... keep the flames under the pot, not licking up the sides, and these IMPACT pans work a treat without overheating the handles. Using the large stewpot for an 'all in one' dinner, it browned two different meats perfectly, cooked up the veggies, and slow cooked the rest of the meal for a perfect dinner. Clean-up took moments with less effort than any of my previous cookware. I now understand why so many professional kitchens use stainless steel. I could say more, but I'm afraid this comment will exceed the words allowed. Follow the simple directions, and it is flawless. (I also use a heat diffuser on occasion when I need much slower cooking as they take the heat almost too well!)
Bought a Scanpan fry pan after using one at a friend's place – I love cooking with this pan. It has even heat over the surface and easy to clean. I can put it straight into the oven which is a big plus for me. I'll be saving up for a Scanpan saucepan or two. Show details
