Very disappointed – My oven door internal glass just exploded during normal pyrolytic cleaning. Can't believe how dangerous this is. My son was standing about 1 metre away from the oven at the time and hot shards of broken glass went all over his feet and on our polished timber floor below and in pull out draws below the oven. I actually bought two of these ovens… Read more

side by side! Based on some of these comments below and other internet forums, this is obviously a known and common problem and a very dangerous one where someone can get seriously injured. Why haven't these things been recalled and fixed? I will be taking this up with my supplier, the manufacturer and consumer affairs if I don't get a satisfactory resolution.

Very poor quality – It started off really good. Failed after 3 years. Uneven cooking. Indesist the Australian agent were useless. Attempting to get a price on a part, again Indesist useless. Been waiting several weeks for a reply. No response. We will never recommend or buy an Indesit product. Total waste of money. Show details

Worst oven I have EVER had – Moved into a new house with a brand new Scholtes oven and hands down this would be the worst oven I have ever used. It is incapable of roasting potatoes. Unless you put the oven on 250deg C and cook for an hour. Muffins took 45 mins on 240 deg C. (My old oven took 12 min on 200 deg C. We got the sales rep in to help as we were told it was the way… Read more

we used the oven. But he unfortunately did not know how to cook. My advice NEVER purchase one of these ovens.

Sick of exploding glass – I have had my Scholtes oven for 6 years now. Just before the warranty had expired my inner door glass exploded during pyroletic cleaning. Covered by warranty, it was fixed. As I hadn't finished the clean cycle, I decided to clean again. 35 minutes into cleaning it exploded again. That was a year ago. I have not been game to use the pyroletic… Read more

since. Tonight I decided to clean using the shortest cycle. Guess what??? 35 minutes in and it has exploded again. Now it isn't in warranty. I have followed the instructions perfectly each time. I am so disappointed. If I buy a new ovwn it will not match my Scholtes microwave or cook top.

Was great but safety should come first – I wish I had read all these reviews before purchasing my oven. My main focus was a pyrolitic oven as I don't like cleaning ovens. I have used the cleaning programme several times with no problem. Last week there were flames in the oven and the internal glass on the door exploded during the pyrolitic clean. It does not appear to have a safety… Read more

cut off and had to be turned off manually. It is now more than a week and I am still waiting to hear back on the warranty claim. I have a job number but nothing else seems to be happening. All the while I don't have an oven. And I don't just want a new piece of glass. I want some sort of guarantee that this will not happen again. What if one of my children were standing nearby when it happened? Why does the oven not have a safety setting to automatically turn off when something like this happens? Otherwise I want a new oven and money back for the fact that I paid extra and planned my kitchen around the fact that I would not need to clean it.

Not happy right now!

Was a great oven but now ......DANGEROUS! – Athough originally happy with our oven, I have since changed my mind. I received a little tingle off the front metal panel surrounding the control panel and upon checking discovered the panel wasn't earth, therefore redendering the household residual current device or 'safety switch' useless. Between the un-earthed metal panel and any earth point… Read more

was 220volts AC!!! I bless my lucky stars that it was me who got the tingle and set about investigating it and not another member my of family. Disappointly and not surprisingly the warranty has expired. So I guess unless I can get to the bottom of the reason for my lethal oven, I am without an oven and thousands of dollars out of pocket. The most frightening part with all of this, is that the oven is still fully functioning without fault (except for the live panel) and the household safety switch does not trip. How many other ovens are suffering the same fault?

Great oven – Like many of the other reviews my inner glass exploded as well. However Arisit sent a service agent out and repaired it in a timely manner. The rotisserie is amazing as well as the divider. I have pyro cleaned my oven many times since the exploding door and have a lovely clean oven.  Show details

Explosion of the oven, sharp glass all over the kitchen – Upon using the pyrolytic function the oven door exploded, glass was shattered all over the kitchen. The pyrolysis function did not stopped by itself so we had to shut down the electricity to avoid the whole place to burn. The customer service argues that this is normal wear (!) and we have to pay for reparing the oven since the it is no longer under warranty. So much disappointed by that since so far the oven worked well.  Show details

Glass shattering – Ran our oven for the first time on the pyrolytic function. We sat on the couch while it did it's thing only to hear an explosion in the kitchen. The internal glass had exploded.we turned it straight off and the oven has now locked. Not impressed and hope the warranty process is painless and quick.  Show details

Would not recommend the Scholtes BC 199 DTPXA – Bought 3 Scholtes products for our new kitchen and unhappy with all of them. Like many other BC 199DTPXA owners, our inner door glass exploded (& I DO mean exploded!) the 1st time we used the "pyrolytic clean" feature. The distributors, Arisit, replaced it fairly quickly but the technician told us the reason for the explosion was because we'd… Read more

failed to clean the glass properly before running the "pyrolytic clean" cycle as explained in the manual. I've checked more than once & there is no such instruction. We haven't been game to try it a second time yet.

Only the the central LCD display on the control panel is back-lit. The "Sensor Touch Controls" printed in grey on the black glass background making it very difficult to see where to touch the panel to operate the oven.

The 2 zone "splitable" oven feature is great & we are very happy with that however... We have found that despite being fan forced/assisted, the oven cooks unevenly from front to back & we have taken to turning our baking trays 1/2 way through to get an even result.

The oven looks good and has some nice features but not enough thought has gone into the actual function.

I couldn't in good conscience recommend The Scholtes BC199DTPXA.

Really bad experience with Scholtes – We have a Scholtes oven & Ceramic Hob. The hob caught fire in the wiring underneath the hob. It was 8 weeks old. The hob was off at the time but power was on at the wall switch. Sure it was replaced under warranty, but if we hadn't been home our house could have burnt down. We've had a bad experience with this brand.

PP 93 – We have had our oven for 3 and a half years. Yesterday the inside glass on the door exploded during pyrolitic cleaning. Firstly I am hoping it is covered under warranty still...if not I am expecting that it will be replaced free of charge anyway! We purchased ours in November 2011. I have been told that from December 2011 they came with a 5 year… Read more

warranty.

Secondly the soonest a service man can come and have a look is on the 20th, nearly two weeks time. That really isn't good enough.

We have been very happy with it until now. I am hoping it is fixed promptly and we can continue to be happy with it!

Exploding Glass when we first tried the pyro cleaning option – We decided to try the pyrolitic self cleaning function, after about 30 minutes in, there was a strong smell, most likely all the crud being incinerated, I just left the kitchen and sat down in the lounge, when there was one hell of a explosion. I went back into my kitchen and my vinyl flooring was covered in +500 degrees pieces of over door… Read more

glass, the inner over door glass had exploded into 100's of pieces of glass. The glass pieces were to small to pickup, and being +500 hot, they quickly melted into our vinyl floor.

We were extremely lucky as it was a school day and our young kids were at school and I wasn't in the kitchen. I contacted the retailer who I purchased it from and it was a pain free process to get it replaced.

Considering another person has reported a problem, Scholtes definitely has a significant problem?

We have also had our combi microwave replaced as well, when at a later date, the touch screen panel played up, again this was a pain free process.

In conclusion, we are happy with the products, except the exploding door, the other negatives is, the touchscreen/pad, really displays finger prints, and scholtes were not interested in compensating us for new kitchen vinyl flooring, I could of jumped up and down a bit more, but we were planning on removing the flooring before the explosion happened.

Wish I hadn't bought mine after the glass shattered when pyrolitic function was on – My new sholtes oven. The glass shattered when i used the pyrolitic function and had to wait weeks for someone to fix it. The cook top has set on fire. The first time it was replaced and it just happened again. The wine fridge rattled like a train, the fan had to be replaced after a few weeks. I wish i had never seen the brand they look good but are probably made in china so are crap as far as i'm concerned.

Great oven – We are really happy we followed the advice of our sales person and went with this oven. Our cakes, pizza, roast chicken and biscuits are turning out perfectly. We have used the different sections as well as the large capacity oven and it is faultless. I have been recommending this oven to friends. Moist cooking, easy to follow touch pad, rotisserie, sections, pizza setting. Lights on panel a bit dim.

Much More Than Expected – This Scholtes oven is brilliant, we originally bought it because of its quality streamline appearance, but it has a bi-oven which allows for cooking at two separate temperatures in the upper oven & the lower oven at the same time or individually or using the entire oven for a big family feast. It has a fully electronic touch pad to operate the… Read more ·  3

oven which is very user friendly & pyro cleaning was a must for us as nobody likes to scrub their oven clean. Price wise it is a great valued oven which allowed us to purchase a Scholtes combi microwave oven to go on top of it for not much more that just an oven of similar standards from Miele cost. We are very happy with our purchase & would recommend a Scholtes oven to anyone looking for a quality cooking appliance. quality of the manufacture, very solid sturdy oven. nothing that i have encounted yet

Great oven! – I bought this oven two months ago and I'm so happy with it. Everything is so moist- roasts, cakes etc. I use the Creation settings so I let the oven decide how to cook meat, cakes and pavlova. Always perfect. Love the pyrolytic function too. It's quite honestly the best oven I've had, including he St. George I had years ago! Moist food, large… Read more

capacity, easy to clean. Only one issue, you can't use the telescopic shelf in top oven when grilling because food burns quickly because it's too close to heating element. You can cook at a lower temperature to over come this if you want.

Just great oven! – I bought this beautiful oven not long ago. My husband was doing pre-purchase research and first I was hesitating due to unknown brand and high price band. problem with it. I'm still in my early learning stage of learning of numerous capacities of this amazing oven - they are too many of them, some are helpful, some - I would probably never use, but basic functions are working fine. It's easy to operate and huge variety of presets could be used for different types of dishes. Huge oven capacity - could feet everything; Too many functions, some of them - quite exotic and won't ever use;

The Best – This oven is so easy to use. The 1st lamb roast was cooked automatically with perfect results. Having multiple shelves allows for cooking 4 pizzas at the same time. It also has the capability of being 2 ovens in one which allows you to cook with 2 different temperature zones. The auto clean system is a real bonus. Overall it is the best oven… Read more

I've used and worth the cost. Easy to use and being 2 ovens in one. Back light on control panel is too dull.

Love it!! – I love this oven. I chose it on recommendation of sales person (over the phone without even seeing it as not stocked in our local region). I wanted an oven with a large capacity, as most of the equivalent are too small to fit a roast and vegies in. Love that although it does heaps of great stuff, it is so easy to use. Best of the Best – We studied up on every different white ware brand, and found from our research that the Scholtes was the best choice for us. We are absolutely thrilled with our Scholtes. We chose the top of the line wall oven for three/four main reasons. 1) Automatic cooking - We were lucky enough to be in the shop when they cooked a roast chicken on the… Read more ·  3

automatic cooking function. The outside was crispy and delicious and the inside was so moist, I had never tasted a chicken like it. It was honestly Restaurant quality. We don't have to enter a weight or time, the oven does it all on its own. Its great.

2) Sealed unit when roasting - I found it interesting that the reason my older oven was drying out the roast was because of the venting. The Scholtes closes the vents on particular functions so it stays nice and moist when it needs too.

3) BIG Capacity - The scholtes oven was actually eternally bigger than the other brands. It is 70L usable space, and obviously larger than any other oven we saw.

4) Twin Cavity - We can cook two meals in one oven, because it divides in the middle of the oven. We often put our plates in the top to keep warm and cook down the bottom, at different temperatures. So amazing and handy.

The Well done lamb on Automatic cooking is more medium-well, but overall everything else we cook is delicious!

Last time we renovated, we bought a wall oven for $4k made in Germany. Supposed to be a top of the line, and were very disappointed in its dry and uneven cooking performance and we were determined to stay away from that brand and not make the same mistake twice. Big Capacity, Yummy results, Twin Cavity, Auto COoking The Clock is quite faint, possibly because it's a white light
