Great 55" Smart TV – What a great TV for the money , built in Netflix, YouTube, Google Kids and Sports . Only thing I wish you could add apps but you can't. Picture and colour awesome
Purchased in at Target Australia for $549.
You pay for what you get – Sound sometimes sounds strange like it’s not working properly or broken but if you can get past that which I can it’s otherwise a great tv. Picture is good and has sleep function which I love
Definitely suggest that you do not buy this TV – Bought this TV 13 months ago. One week before the warranty ran out it developed a thin line, vertical, permanent fault on the screen. I went back to the retailer to find that they had recently closed down. I placed a warranty claim with the distributor Ayonz. They promised me a refund or a replacement. After a month of phoning them weekly they kept promising me that the claim was still being assessed. The issue is now with Fair Trading.
Purchased in for $895.
Don't even think about it! Worst TV backed up by poor customer service! – I have had this TV for less than a week, It was delivered on the 24th of October, and on the following day I have been on the phone with the service agent AYONZ for over an hour with issues involving the quality of HD TV, Netflix video quality is comparable to VHS (Videotape) quality, Not being able to sign into youtube as the TV crashes continuously, Wifi dropping out randomly when the TV is about 3M away with line of sight (no blockages), STAN not being able to run at all and last of all this TV not being a real 4K TV by way of not being able to even run an Xbox in 4K mode. Yes, it does do 4K at 30hz but in the real world, there is nothing out there that really will run at 4K 30hz, for example, Xbox with The main minimum requirement for most devices is 60hz. I am awaiting the outcome of what's going to happen with this TV as this TV is so below any standards and AYONZ are claiming that the TV is a great unit and are surprised I am having this issue.
So, apart from all the issues there, I ‘m going to add some more info to the review that might be helpful. This TV is actually an Android TV and runs Android OS, however, you can only download apps from Aptoide TV, This to me is quite confusing and I feel that this is a large part of the problem with this TV. You see, to me, the manufacturer would have paid for a license for the use of the Android software then again for the use of the Aptoide TV. Why they wouldn't just use the play store I don't know and the only logical reason to not use it would be that this TV can not support PlayStore minimum requirements. This is just speculation but honestly, to me, it doesn’t make sense to pay for to licences for the one TV when you could just use the one. Most the apps, like Netflix, require the use of the air mouse included with the TV. Wow, an air mouse you say? No not wow, I would rather use the standard keys which you can not, its air mouse or nothing! Apps often freeze or just don't load and the whole system is a mess. The audio in this TV is absolutely disgusting, however, I am not going to down this TV for that as it was a cheap TV and that's what a sound bar is for. The picture quality is not too bad when connected to an HDMI device. I don't want for a stronger backlight or anything like that, connected to my PC I am quite happy with the quality and honestly same with the Xbox. Yes I did down the 4K compatibility before, however, this TV is sold as a 4K TV, it is was sold as a normal HDTV I would not have mentioned it and I would have given it a higher mark. If you say you have a 4K TV then its best to make it actually 4K, this is not a useful 4K TV and I would actually say that it’s not 4K but HD. I have also had issues playing 4K movies on USB, The quality, once again comes up as normal HD and not 4K, also the sound would not work but I downloaded VLC and it worked then. VCL is probably the only useful app you can get. Honestly, I love an underdog, I wanted this TV to be something I could tell you to buy, I have a TCL TV and I raved on about how far they have come and how much they are worth twice what the asking price is. This TV is only good as a display that would be used at a takeaway place to display the menu. It’s no good as a free to air TV, It's no good as a 4K tv and It's no good as a smart TV. I have been told by Ayons who are the service agents for westinghouse, Blaupunkt and others that for me to get Netflix working I would have to go and buy a chromecast and cast it from my phone to the TV! They, are telling me, that I have to go and buy an external device to watch Netflix even though the TV is designed to play Netflix! Really! I have actually had to contact CBS and lucky the retailer has awesome customer service and has stated that they will pick up the TV and I will be refunded the full purchase price. They wouldn't even exchange this TV for some reason. I can only assume that they have had issues with this brand before and by refunding it they get a credit from Ayonz which mean they have one less on the shelf!
Picture: 2/5 Sound: 0/5 Smart TV: 1/5 Quality: 2/5 Value 1/5
I do not recommend this tv or any other seiki products.
