Seresto Fleas And Tick Collar For Kittens And Cats Questions & Answers
I was wondering if anyone else's cat might have got sick from using this collar. I used it on my cat starting in March of 2020. Then around July or August my daughter was home and noticed that he was losing weight, his eating habits were not good. It was getting worse, so around November I took the collar off of him and took him to the vet. The did blood work and x-rayed him. Both were negative of any disorders. So I am just curious to see if anyone else has had any problems with this collar? I feel really bad for my cat and would like some honest opinions.
Just wondering how your cat is now? Similar issue with one of our cats. The seresto collar on since November and since we’ve noticed this steady weight loss and fussy appetite. We will go to the vets this week but the collar is coming off today. Her full sister has had no problems with the collar
Thank you for this. He eats, but gains no weight. His appetite is also very fussy. He is very whiny at times also. Good luck at the vets.
Diane, I have the same issue. One of my cats got a sore under her collar within days of me putting it on so we removed it. But the other cat had no reaction so we left it there. A week later we noticed he was losing weight rapidly and had no appetite. We took the collar off and I have been hand feeding him chicken but he still has very little appetite, is miserable and has no energy.
I put these collars on two of my cats, one keep licking the other cats collar so we took it off. She developed sarcoma on her face and died within that year. My other cat was allergic to the collar ( red marks) so we took it off, she got diagnosed with lymphoma. I wrote to seresto and advised I never heard back. These collars should be banned. My cats were perfectly healthy prior
Thank you all for these responses. My cat has very little appetite and is so much more picky with his food and very whiny. He eats, but gains no weight. I feel bad I did this to my cat, but who knew.
I had a similar issue with my cat. He was in perfect health when I put this collar on him. Fast forward 8 months and I noticed he was loosing weight. The collar was off by this time. Within a month, his weight loss was so dramatic along with not eating & vomiting. Took him to the vet who diagnosed lymphoma. 4 days later he was dead. I would never recommend anyone uses these collars. I have lost my best friend because of these horrendous things. This all happened in 2020- early 2022. I had one for my other cat who could not wear it thankfully so it has been binned and she is still alive
My 6month cat has been drooling and not eating since I put the collar on it's been 5 days now ,what do I do for him,
Take it off
I live in QLD Australia and have used seresto tick collars on my cats for 3 years now. We have a lot of paralysis ticks on our property. They have previously worked well until yesterday when I found a large paralysis tick on my cats tummy area. He is losing control of his hind legs. The new collar was put on him 3 weeks ago and hasn’t worked. Any suggestions why?
They have fake imitation collars sold online that aren’t true Bayer Seresto. Bayer seresto is always around $55. The fake on around $24 or so. Not sure if you purchased from a replica vet or online but could be you purchased a fake.
Does not work! Want to go back to the drops! My cat is getting bald around collar area and STILL itching! These collars are not cheap. Had it on for 3 weeks...anyway I can get a refund?
I'm wondering if this will work better than Frontline Plus neck drops?
My cats are allowed outside for periods of time during the day, they do go under the house at times (slightly raised on stumps with sand / dirt under there). Our house is all hardfloors inside so I think they must be picking up fleas from under the house? I just don't seem to be able to get rid of them and don't really have access to spray all under the house with pest control for fleas. We never had an issue at the last place.
I haven't noticed fleas in the house at all but I do notice when they start bothering the cats, at the moment I only have some flea powder and debating weather to buy more drops or try something different.
We adopted an older neighbors cat last summer. He was severely infected with fleas to the point of looking like mange. We dipped him a couple times, started him on frontline for 5 months, shampooed him 3 times and regularly combed him nightly getting 10-15 fat fleas off him. Yep, then got fleas in our home. Bombing, vacuuming, bombing... what a mess. Placed a seresto collar on him. Fleas gone in 2 days. Now his fur is full and he has gained his weight back. Looks great. Bad news, put our other cats on seresto. My 6lb 5year old girl started pulling her hair out in clumps whereever she can reach with her mouth after having the collar on for 5 months. The other boys seem fine. This girl can she fleas on the floor and she freaks out. Now I dont know what I can use on her and our town has a horrible flea problem. Anyone else have problems with their cat pulling their hair out? I'm not sure if its the collar or not, but i have removed it. Thanks
