Hi there,

My Smeg SA306X-8 has stopped heating, the light works the timer works but the oven won’t heat up. We noticed this issue after a blackout.

Is it possible that when our electricity metre was upgraded and the power was switched back on, that this could have caused the heating element behind the fan to no longer work. Seems strange that it was working before power cut and then not heating up after electricity metre was upgraded and replaced to a digital metre. Smeg Oven SA306X-8

I have just moved into a house with the smeg sa306x-8 and last night discovered the oven is woeful - I tried to roast some diced potatoes to have with my dinner. In my old oven it would have taken 25 minutes, but it took over 45 minutes for this oven to even reach 200deg! It seems crazy it would take so long, something must be wrong with it. The grill function worked fine when I made a toasted sandwich. The previous owner of this house left a receipt for a safety thermostat in with the oven manual paperwork so I am curious as to whether there is a known problem with the safety thermostat and whether there is any way of fixing it? I am not super happy, it took me over an hour and a half to cook something that should have taken 20 minutes!

After a blackout yesterday, my SMEG SA306X-5 oven is not working. Circuit breaker ok, power is on, the light in the oven comes on when door opens. But no lights on control panel, no fan or heat. Manual pg.9 says press "central key" for 1-2 seconds (after a blackout), but that if for the analogue-clock model. Mine the electronic-programmer model that has "+" and "-" buttons, but pressing these has no effect? Any ideas, is there another safety switch I have overlooked?

cheers

We’ve had this oven for a while and love it, but the cabinet had deteriated because water kept dripping on the bottom of the cabinet when I opened the door. We thought this was normal until we went to the smeg show room and said it wasn’t normal for this to happen. Can you please advise us as I love the oven but don’t want to replace my kitchen cabinet.
