I do not reccomend, i paid as an "upgrade" for my new house, however it's so cheap! in fact they had to replace a brand new unit as it was faulty from the box! very bad on operation - it has 9 power modes, and it's not a smooth power delivery but constant ON/OFF modulataion, which menas the food heats up on 100% for 1 second and then idles for 8 seconds whn switched to the low temperature setting. there are cheaper and better options ! Piece of rubbish – Bought our Smeg induction cook top PIP364D in September 2020 and by mid 2023 the large right side hot plate at the back stopped working. About 3 months later the back left side hot plate stopped working. We had a Smeg oven which only lasted 5 an a half years, for the price we paid for them you would expect them to last much longer. We did… Read more
contact a Smeg contractor to come out to look at our oven when it malfunctioned. He told us it was the thermostat and replaced the part. He then realised that did not fix the problem and had another look and then said we would need another part which would be about $700 to which we said no. Shortly after we thought about it and realised not only had they charged us the call out fee but we had paid $200 for a part we didn't need. We called them and explained this and they said they couldn't do anything about. Going to count our losses this time and replace our cook top with Westinghouse as we did with our oven.
Have just discovered that ‘load sharing’ can be a problem – I purchased my 60 cm induction cooktop 8 years ago, had noticed that the hot plates reverted back to lower cook temperature, had wondered why. Recently I was having problems with using the 2 small hot plates at the same time, temp would flick between the 2, the service man just said the Smeg have a load sharing function & that was normal ! Answered some of my concerns, it would appear this does not happen with other brands. Show details
SAI64 induction cooktop, DONT BUY, it is CRAP – I bought my house in 2016 which has SMERG induction cooktop, after 3 yrs it stops working and I need to replace it but my question is if u pay more than $1500 and it gonna last for just 2 to 3 yrs than what is the use of buying SMEg product. they said that they provide best products but sorry to your products are ripping off, costly and just last 2 to 3 yrs and customer service is also crap. Error 6 Fault – Purchased this unit in jan 2016 and worked well until error 6 pops up and now needs a technician to come out. I would not expect this from this brand after 3 years of use. Power for whole apartment was turned off when this happened. Show details
Perfect until now – Purchased this unit in December 2015 for installation in a newly renovated home completed in March 2016. It has worked flawlessly, then suddenly today it has stopped working, with a flashing “E”. Interestingly enough this is not long after expiry of the 2 year manufacturers warranty. This is a fairly expensive item which one would expect to… Read more
function properly for a little longer than 28 months.
Have contacted SMEG to see where we go from here.
Also had issues with their microwave (noisy with faulty micro switch).
I trust this is not an indication of the deteriorating quality of this make, which in the past has been known to be one of the best.
its okay – The cook top looks good, but it seems to be delicate. It scratches if you use touch material to clean the top. Never used this product before but it was highly recommended by my friends. So far it heats reasonably quick, but need to use with great attention to avoid damage of the product which makes it inconvenient sometimes. Show details
Corner chipped after one month use – Love the sleek design of this cooktop. Heats up fast and makes cooking a pleasure. Noticed small chip at corner of cooktop while cleaning after one month of installation. Have used smeg before and no problems like this? Is the glass toughened? Very upset. Have photos. Thought this would last for years as previous products had. Show details · 1
