5 year old oven dont work. Mains on. Grill and oven dont switch on. Any ideas? Spoke to SMEG. There warrenty is only for 2 years and does not change over when houses are sold. The tech person went through possible issues which i had to fix myself. Dont see SMEG as any type of premium product anymore. The oven is nothing special.
THE OVEN LOOKS NICE – I only bought it as the other ovens were totally black, and I did not like that look. The Smeg SFA63M3TVX oven functions are totally different, and it takes some getting used to it. Unlike all other ovens, it does not have a clock, which I find weird. You cannot see the cooking food from the outside as the oven door is too dark. You have to open the door to see if the food is cooked.
Purchased in for $1,268.

I really regret buying that oven, as it has so many disadvantages: The timer of the oven is totally useless as it does not even make a noise, when the time has elapsed. It just stops heating. The Temperature control is not accurate enough as for eg it jumps from 160C to 200C. When using the grill the door has to be closed and if your recipe calls for a frying pan to be put under the grill, the handle starts to smoke.
smeg Thermoseal wall oven SFA63M3TVX – I bought a new smeg oven to replace a 20 year-old oven in my apartment. It is a simple oven with steam cleaning, and thermo-seal which keeps heat in while cooking. I'm being really careful to keep the oven clean in order to get the benefits of the automatic cleaning. This oven works well. It is simple to use, and for me, I just need a timer to bake or grill things. I don't use programming functions that are found on smeg's more sophisticated ovens.
smeg ovens I am told, have the largest internal space for a 60cm size wall oven. Maximum cooking temp is 250 deg C. and the oven has 8 standard functions plus defrost and vapour (steam) cleaning. There is a timer which can be set to manual cooking, or alternatively; "minute minder" timed cooking, which turns the oven off automatically. There is also a comprehensive user manual. The only issue I have with the oven is its inbuilt timer, which takes practice to use effectively. I have to turn the dial clockwise to set cooking time and the times on the dial can be hard to estimate. Instead of relying solely on that timer I also use my own kitchen timer to watch for shorter, intermediate, timing intervals.
I really like the way my smeg oven cooks:- evenly and completely through the food. The baked meats and vegetables are delicious. This oven is perfect for people like me, apartment dwellers who cook for themselves.
I think it's great! A surprisingly affordable oven and one of the best acquisitions for my apartment.
Purchased in at Whitfords for $1,150.
