Ideal multi task oven – This oven is high quality at a reasonable price. It has all the bells and whistles, steam, pyrolytic cleaning, BBQ plate, grilling, fan forced with a multitude of preset functions such as pizza, warming, or food types. the touch screen makes navigating the functions easy. The bake trays are the best I have seen. After two months the food has not failed to cook as good as you can get!
Purchased in at WINNINGS for $3,400.

Never buy a Smeg oven. There are good reasons why they have a 2 year warranty – Smeg offers many different oven models for buyers. Most of them have an enamelled steel liner. If the enamel doesn't crack or chip, enamel offers excellent protection to the steel underneath. The enamel stops water and oxygen from contacting the steel. Rusting is a possible consequence when steel, moisture and oxygen are present . Heating increases the reaction rate. I have a SMEG SAP578X-9 'thermoseal' pyrolytic oven. It was built approx 2016. The thermoseal design retains moisture in the oven during cooking, so food doesn't dry out. Technicians who repaired this oven when the main control board failed were able to tell me the model. I thank Smeg for replacing the main circuit board when it failed outside the 2 year year warranty period, at their expense. The repair would have cost me $650 for the replacement circuit board plus $250 labour, if I had been given the bill. In the last few years, a new problem has become increasingly evident. The back wall of my Smeg oven is rusting quite rapidly, at the holes in the oven liner, where screws pass through it. Two screws hold the rear element in place. The screw holes have rusted so much that the screws now just fall out of the holes. The fan cover has two screws to hold it in place. The screw holes have rusted and become so big that I have had to replace them with larger diameter screws. The rust continues to enlarge the screw holes. Stacey from Smeg Sydney says the 7 year old oven is out of warranty, but I can buy a replacement Smeg oven, with the same enamelled steel liner, for a discounted price of $1100. She will even give me a 5 year warranty if I buy it, instead of the standard 2 year warranty. I don't think 2 years is sufficient warranty for an oven. It is a major appliance, not a toaster. Customers should expect maybe 8 years of reliable service from their $1500+ investment . That's how long the standard warranty should be. If you think a Smeg appliance might be OK to buy, look at some reviews. Search on 'Smeg review rust' or 'Smeg review value for money'.
