This is the first Smeg we have owned and have had it for just over 1 year now.
It has worked almost perfectly except for the touch control panel locking it's self and then not responding to unlock so now ice or water could be dispensed. Called Smeg service in Brisbane and the tech came the same day and replaced the control panel on the spot under warranty. Tech said that was usually the only part they ever need to replace on this model so it would seem overall the fridge is very reliable. Time will tell...
Fridge and freezer is nice and bri...ght inside and is well featured. Water and ice dispenser works very well and a light comes on automatically when using it. Water is plumbed directly into fridge and that was made easy by the small flexible pipe supplied with the fridge. You can hear the ice maker when it dumps newly made ice blocks into storage bin but this is not very loud (got quieter as bin got fuller) and overall the fridge is very quiet. Ice cubes are a small size about 2cm square which are ideal for drinks and making cocktails. The water can filtered by an internally mounted filter which is easy to access inside the fridge. The water supply to our fridge is already dual filtered by an external filter under the house, so we did not fit the internal filter cartridge. The fridge does remind you at fixed intervals to change the filter even when filter is not fitted. The "party door" as we call it, is the small drop down door which enables access to a compartment in the door which is big enough to hold a couple bottles of milk and a bottle or two of wine. Very handy.

My fridge is freezing up. It was happening every now and then but now it is permanently freeing. Had to throw hundreds of dollars worth of food out in the last 4 months. I have the fridge set to 8 degrees and it does nothing.
