We seemed to keep kettles a long time so decided to purchase SMEG - very sturdy, well constructed, looks great, abit heavier than most, quite, well worth looking into if you want retro looking kettle Show details
Follow-up · So far SMEG kettle has not stop impressing me, it’s solid not like the cheaper kettles, it’s certainly gets abit of use, it’s abit heavy than majority of kettles, but yet to fault
It's lovely to look at, I love the variable temperature. However; It's really heavy. It does have a water level window, but you can never see how much water is in it, it isn't easily viewable, or viewable at all. Once it has heated/boiled the pop up lid wont open again until it has cooled down. Show details
Exterior finish not sturdy. Would not buy again – It works perfectly as a kettle. I bought it for its aesthetic. 6 months after buying the paint is chipping off the rim. I have taken so much care not to bump it or get drips on it but there are stains on the kettle exterior. The chipping around the rim worries me that paint has fallen into kettle and we are drinking it. Probably a good kettle but will look old and battered before the first year is done. Show details
New kettle to replace the older one 3 years old not the same – I have been relatively happy with my SMEG kettles. My first one lasted 3 years and has started to leak. I decided to buy a new one (the same) but must say the sound is now a little tinny and it does not pour as well as the older one. Pity as it does look like something has changed in the quality.
Pretty but poor – I am so disappointed i got my Smeg kettle in 2023 and the joy i had from getting this kettle as sad as that seems made me so happy but honestly it wasn’t worth the money it’s broken and out of warranty I debated buying another one as I loved the aesthetic so much but £189 for it ti break again I just can’t risk if you have money to replace every… Read more
two years go for it as they are so pretty as far as kettles go but if you can’t afford to replace every two years I wouldn’t waste your money
Loving it! – Loving the new purchase. Slight colour variation from the Coffee machine, disappointed it didn’t match but nevertheless awesome product & customer service. Thanks
Awesome set! – Ooh soo lovely! Looks pretty nice and stylish, works beautifully and pretty fast. Am very pleased with my set and would highly recommend it. Show details
Replacement kettle also leaks – Brand-new kettle leaking through the base. The replacement also leaks through the base. SMEG is now ignoring me. Show details
Love the retro Smeg kettle – I purchased my Smeg kettle directly from Appliances Online. First of all, it looks fabulous! There are several settings for water temperature. I love that, especially as I drink a lot of herbal tea. It's not noisy, so another tick. The water level is easy to see. The outside of the kettle isn't hot when the water is boiled, so no problems'… Read more
there. My only negative is that it stopped working twice. My positive was that Appliances Online replaced the kettle both times. They were wonderful. Huge tick for Appliances Online. It's working well since and I'm very happy with my Smeg Kettle.
A great kettle – This kettle works well. It is easy to use and check water level and temperature. It heats the water quickly, and if you set a lower temperature it is even quicker. Pastel Green colour is beautiful and just what I wanted. Show details
Absolute Rubbish - SMEG ripped many people off – Bought this SMEG 50's style kettle and started noticing bubbles on the facial vinyl color that I haven't noticed before until 2 months till the warranty runs out. Paid nearly $300 for it in a local retailer. Took it back for warranty and they exchanged it with another one but didn't give me a fresh 12 months warranty. Same thing happened and I… Read more
spoke with several other people who purchased the same kettle and their kettle also started to develop bubbles.
With our replacement, though cautious, we poured water up to the max aloud and noticed that the bubbles get formed quicker so then we decide to fill half way and noticed that bubbles get formed slower. So their max rated water amount (1.7lire or so) is destructive so to slow the process of bubbling you have to use half the amount of water at all times rather than fill up to the max marked and recommended. We never over-filled but occasionally used the max water that is marked on the glass gauge.
SMEG's failure to realize that shrinking a vinyl sheet around their kettles is a bad idea and over time with heat they would form bubbles. Or they knew it and still went ahead in large scale production at an astronomical price (for a kettle) and started ripping people off.
I urge people not to buy SMEG colored range products (Though recently I noticed they released their new version which is not vinyl but spray coated which is not smooth and has a bit of a rough surface) but god knows how the new range is gonna turn out.
SMEG uses the visual strategy to attract buyers and shove their poor quality products up consumers bum and make huge profit from the rubbish they produce.
My second replacement kettle is having the same issue and I would never ever go towards SMEG brand at all.
SMEG is a deceptive brand similar to Breville that fools people by the astonishing look and poor quality parts hidden under the visual characteristic of their product.
If you value and care about your hard earned money I strongly advise you all to stay away from SMEG and don't be fooled by the rubbish though good looking and visually appealing products or else don't believe me and experience yourself.
These kettles don't worth more than $70. They could have anodized the outer body instead of shrinking adhesive vinyl colored sheets to give their product a look. This was the result of a mentally crook designer/management.

The perfect kettle! – This kettle functions well. It is easy to use and gauge water level and temperature. It does heat up but no more than any other kettle does on the outside. It heats the water pretty quickly, and if you set a lower temperature it is also a shorter time which is handy. Show details
Paint blistered off, great customer service though – The original kettle that I bought had an issue with the paint blistering. I contacted Smeg and the faulty kettle was immediately (within days) replaced with a new one which has been working fine so far. I can't give a perfect score because the first one that I owned was defective but I am very impressed with the excellent customer service. Show details

Beautiful but substandard quality! – I raised the issue with SMEG months ago about the whole leaking at the lid issue where it started to form bubbles in the paintwork and there' some form of rust. They were kind enough to offer a replacement however I keep getting advised that they are experiencing delays in their shipment, whilst there is enough stock at the retailers. I even asked… Read more
if I could go get one from a retailer and if they can refund the purchase amount but they insist that I wait for their shipment to come through.
Is it even safe to use this product with this issue? Very disappointed with their product and service. I was going to buy SMEG appliances for my new house, however, this experience has completely put me off this brand. If they cannot get their kettle right, I wonder how bad their other products are!
Disgusting for its price – I am not happy with this product we have only had this just over 2 years and the base has gone will not boil just switches off. For the price I thought it would last but I emailed spare parts to Get quote for a new base only and to my shock it is the same price as a whole kettle. Still had to add the postage on top of that. Disgusting will never… Read more
buy another and stupid me brought the toaster to so I guess it will go soon to I installed a stove as well and it only come with runners for one shelf. So I priced a set of them only to find out they were over $100 to buy as well. My advice is buy cheaper good brands that come with everything and most times more my $39.99 kettle lasted 7 years.

Disappointing Smeg product, however love the look – Kettle is approximately 8 month old, however it looks a lot older. The spout drips and stains the front, water stain at the bottom of water gauge. The lid lets steam out and burns your hand when pouring. A premium price for a poor product. But it has the looks that sell. Show details

Disappointed in quality – Have had this for 3 months now.. similarly to other reviews I have had issues with the seal on the lid where steam jets out to the handle (extremely dangerous to those unaware of this). The lid itself is ridiculously flimsy, it takes a minimum 5 attempts to open. On top of this its next to impossible to maintain the clean look. In saying this it… Read more

Love love love Smeg – We always buy smeg because their service and commitment to their products is brilliant. Our family members also now buy smeg because of us praising their fantastic service. Our son had a problem with a part of his blender and they replaced it immediately with no problems. The one time I didn't buy smeg was because I didn't realise they made bench… Read more · 1
top mixers and bought that other brand and Ive been sorry ever since. But back to this product. This kettle is great. it looks great and it feels solid. It's also extremely quiet for a kettle. It took us some time to get used to it. You have to press the button twice to turn it on. We rarely use the varied heats but I do wait for the kettle to boil and I love being able to know how long I have to wait as the lights go through the temperatures. The negative about this kettle is the seal on the lid can have small gaps where it doesn't seal down properly and so steam can escape over your hand when holding the kettle, this can be very hot. Also the lid opening mechanism sometimes takes several pushes to open. But after researching kettles (because we use it so many times during the day) and reading horror reviews of other brands we are happy with this purchase. We will stick with Smeg because great service is hard to find these days and is worth supporting.
Extremely Disappointed – Pre-ordered the KLF03BLAU on the 15th August 2020 for $219 with approximately a 4-week wait from the manufacturer through Harvey Norman. I was upgraded after the 4-weeks at no extra cost to the KLF04BLAU as the manufacture could not supply my original order. I have not even had the kettle for a month and the inside base is already rusting. I am… Read more
so disappointed with SMEG for producing such rubbish with such an exorbitant price. I have quality appliances throughout my home, mostly SMEG but this time SMEG has missed the mark. My Russell & Hobbs that I loved lasted me close to 5-years at half the price.

Customer for life! – "I am overwhelmed with the service SMEG has provided to my concern. Reaction time was amazing. Thank you Allison and team." I am having issues with boiling. All the lights come up and i set the temperature and it does not boil. I have disconnected it and started again. I am so upset as it was a birthday present from my mum and it is only 2 months old. I can not find anything on the net to help me. Show details · 2
Disappointing from an expected high quality brand – Bought the kettle in July 2018. Over the last two months started to notice the kettle will chime to say boiled to 100 degrees but when you go to pour the water it's luke warm at best. Very disappointed after splashing out $250 on what I thought was a kettle that would last years. Nothing worse than sitting down to a cold cup of tea, my $50… Read more
Westinghouse kettle prior to this lasted longer. Hopefully Smeg reach out because this is very disappointing and appears I'm not the only one with a below average experience with these kettles.
Such a waste of money!!! – Such a waste of money!!!bought about a year ago and kettle boils water to 100 degree and doesnt stop, even unpluging doesnt help and it continues boiling!!!. Excellent Customer Service from Smeg service team – I absolutely love my kettle, its stylish, quiet and quick. When my first kettle had a malfunction, the Smeg service team were exceptional and replaced my faulty kettle extremely fast and responded to my correspondence within hours. Show details
Fails in the first week – We just upgraded our old Smeg kettle and toaster as both became faulty after 2 5 yrs use. The new temperature control isnt working after 1 week. It is set to 100 and stops at 70. It takes me 3 goes to get it to boil. Not impressed. I think it will be going back! Show details
Great kettle! Fab design – Great kettle with various temperature settings for different types of tea and drinks. There is another model that just has one temperature setting. We got this in white. It looks nice and fresh, love it! Love the retro 50s style. No issues with this kettle at all. My only slight criticism is that the hottest temperature could be a bit hotter. We… Read more · 1
got the kettle from Bing Lee during a sale for $192. Great price for this model. My only criticism would be that it doesn't need the musical noises when you set the temperature and switch it on to boil, and when its boiled. We find these musical noises to be annoying. I recommend this kettle!
Update: To turn off the musical sounds on a Smeg kettle, you can press and hold the thermometer button for five seconds until the light flashes.
SMEG Kettle KL404 Faulty within weeks – I bought the Smeg Kettle KLF04 in white along with the matching toaster in June 2018. Within a matter of weeks the kettle stopped making a noise when it finishes boiling and the lid often sticks and has to be manually opened. This is a $200 kettle so I am very disappointed with the faults so early on. Although they look great, they don’t seem to be worth the money. Really disappointed. Show details

Very Happy – I bought the updated model of the Smeg kettle. After reading the unfavourable reviews of the KLF01 I contacted Smeg who advised that the issues with the earlier model had been resolved. So far I am very happy. The lid opens and closes without any issue and the SMEG decal seems to be incorporated into the body of the kettle. One small issue is… Read more
that the chime/tune the kettle plays has randomly stopped on a few occasions. I think I muted it in error the first time by pressing and holding the temperature hold button towards the back of the kettle for too long.
The last couple of times it’s happened I have simply unplugged the kettle and plugged it back in and it’s worked. You need to unplug it completely from the wall socket. If that doesn’t work, try playing with the mute function.
The base is quite flimsy. It’s plastic with a chrome coating but it does the job. You would expect a bit more from a manufacturer of quality products.
A perfect long term investment – Best value for money. Practical with the cord able to wrap around the bottom of the kettle, boils water quickly and to the temp required for your beverage. User friendly with a melody sound to notify you that the kettle is on and about to boil your water. This kettle is everything you ever wanted in a kettle and more. You get what you pay for.
