SodaStream Source Range Questions & Answers
VerifiedHi all - we have a SodaStream Source unit - which we've loved and had no issues with over the past couple of years - until last week. When inserting the water bottles (plain tap water, not overfilled, correct angle inserted then shifted to vertical) and pressing down for gas, a large amount of water is now leaking from between the unit and top of the water bottle, and the water doesn't gas properly now either. Any help to rectify / fix would be appreciated - as we drink copious amounts of carbonated water every week. Have tried attaching a new gas bottle but same problem . Thanks.

I just got a hand me down sodastream source. I don't have an instruction manual. So I don't know what I am supposed to buy to use it. It already has a co2 tank but I don't know anything else. Any help?
Hi Tasha, welcome to the bubble club! Other than the unit and the CO2 Cylinder, you will need a carbonating bottle (or 2 if you want to have multiple drinks), then from there, any flavours that you wish to add to your water. For your carbonating bottle, and of our Fuse bottles will fit your SodaStream Source. You can find our full collection of bottles here: external link
We hope this helps and please don't hesitate to reach out should you have any more questions!

When was this model of Soda Stream discontinued and why?
Hi Naomi, the SodaStream Source was discontinued this year (although you will still find the odd Sparkling Water Maker out in the market available to purchase). We have discontinued this model as we are now offering into our new and improved generation of Sparkling Water Makers. Our newer models all feature our pink Quick Connect CO2 Cylinders, we changed the design of our CO2 cylinders due to Streamer feedback that our older twist in cylinders were difficult to install (this was our number one complaint and troubleshooting problem), the new CO2 Cylinders now snap-lock in with a handy lever. That said, the Source is still going to be supported for the foreseeable future, as we plan to continue supporting both types of CO2 Cylinders. We hope this helps!

How do you remove the back cover to take out the cylinder
Its a snug fit but just pulls of, finger in the hole and pull.
Where can I obtain a replacement washer in Adelaide?
How can you tell if you've run out of gas if it's still shooting gas into the water but the carbonising isn't really holding? (i.e. the fizz isn't lasting more than a minute, if at all?) Matt
Based on my experience, very little fizz indicates it's time to exchange my gas cylinder, all depends how fizzy you like it. I get mine exchanged at Big W but Coles and K Mart also do it, just check if your local ones do it before you make the trip.
My new soda stream source does not make a noise like my old one. Is this because of improvement or it was faulty on purchase, or should my new one be making a noise. The old noise was very loud.
Not sure what noise you're referring to but mine only makes a fizzing noise which is not that loud.
I don’t seem to get enough bubbles, I press it down 3 times to the 3 lights and still not enough. What am I doing wrong?
You hold down the button once until it the 3rd light comes on. As the gas cyclinder uses up the gas and bubbles do actually get less. Still quite decent though.
I purchased a new gas cylinder for my soda stream. Its the first time ive changed it as its new. I made one drink and all rhe gas was gone. Did i do something wrong? I

Hi, When gassing my bottles water gushes out from the top and doesn't make the sound it used too when enough gas has been dispensed. I have 2 of these units, I use them every day. I have one at work and one a home. I've not had any issues with either unit previously. It looks like the pin inside the top that activates the gas doesn't retract anymore. Could this be the reason why too much gas keeps coming out causing the water to gush out? if yes, how do I get this fixed?
We threw out our previous model because it sprayed water everywhere. The model we currently have is the one in the photo- Sodastream Power. It still sprays water everywhere during the final cycle. My friend has the same model and hers does not. Why? What are we doing wrong?
They advertise 60lt per gas bottle... I was lucky to get 30lt and the last gas bottle I only got 1lt...I no longer use it as it is to expensive to run.

The source model is the one I have and have not found the replacement washers very easy and had 60L replacement empty out by hellacious leak as i tried to untwist it because i might have the incorrect washer where it fits into in the top of the chamber and is too tightly screwed in and if not it won't produce a good liter output and this bottle's wasted because of that washer replacement problem that has come with the unit or that is, to just get the measurements if one isn't educated in that or in repairing such devices. The manufacturer isn't very helpful neither. The mystery of how and where to get proper parts. And the latest hassle as well, finding if any of the local stores have any refills during this "Covid everything" 2020-21 years. So, sorry for the venting, and if my sodastream isn't broke from my slamming it because the gas wouldn't stop gushing out like a 'broken gas line' all over the not having the proper washer fitting or much less finding one. Any help?

Can you fill your bottles with water and store in the fridge ready to carbonate or is it better to use water straight from tap to carbonate
I use water from the tap and then refrigerate.
Thankyou
We always fill bottles and store in fridge and carbonate when ready to drink. The water tastes much nicer for me when it's cold.
Thanks Cheryl. We have since tried this and you are right.
My water has no sparkle. Flat

How do get a replacement as this soda stream does not work well after replacing cylinders to leaking to not getting the fizz right what do I do
I found that there's a black nylon O-ring where the bottle joins the sodastream.. is that's dis lodged then gas will leak everywhere.
Richard it’s not the gas leaking it’s the water and the seal looks fine

Hi, is it normal to hear gas hissing when the button is depressed to carbonate the water....also takes about 8 -10 pushes for water to be adequately carbonated.
Hi Theresa, best to contact our customer service team by calling 1300 763 278 or emailing sales-australia@sodastream.com so that we can troubleshoot this issue with you. Cheers!
