This is our third soda stream in the last 10 years. This time we chose a model with less moving parts in hope that it would be more reliable. After 1 month the machine was leaking gas from the valve where the cannister attaches. Upon googling, this is a very common fault with newer soda stream machines which are not made of good quality parts so they will fail and have to be replaced.
After contacting the soda stream Australia helpdesk I had a phone call saying to keep tightening the cannister and it would be fine. It kept having the issue, and now around 4 years later it leaks gas EVERY TIME we want to gas a bottle. The help desk says given it is now out of warranty there's nothing they can do despite previously notifying them of this issue- and offered us 20% off a new machine. We do not want to buy a new machine continually after 2 years- it is so wasteful. My parents older model does not have this issue.
Google 'soda stream alternatives' as there are other brands that don't have this issue that we will now be purchasing. Soda stream has really dropped in quality unfortunately.

Do yourself a favour and stay clear of this brand! There are many alternatives that are better and widely available. I have had two different machines and both failed shortly after the warranty period, one of them being this model. They both leaked water unless underfilling the bottle, and were extremely inefficient at carbonating water. I just purchased a Breville InFizz and the difference is like day and night. The worst part is the very bad customer support from Sodastream, as they clearly don't stand by their own products! I contacted support because I wasn't getting much carbonation out of my cylinders, and had to replace them too frequently, only getting about half of the promised 60l per cylinder. In response, they told me to screw in my cylinder as tight as I possibly could, and that I couldn't possibly brake the machine doing this. That's what I did, and as a result, the flimsy plastic mechanism that holds the cylinder broke! They then told me they can't do anything because my machine is out of warranty! Even though this happened as a result of their instructions and advice! I have never experienced such outrageous incompetence and customer neglect. They offered me 20% off another machine but I said 'no thanks, never again!'. The fact that they can sell their machines for 40% off on black Friday sales just shows how low the value of these machines really is! Stay clear! It's all plastic and not fantastic!

Flimsy. Nowhere near as good as original models – We loved our previous sodastream model. Worked well for years. Then died. Bought a new E-Terra. Nice and shiny, LED blue light when it gases the water. However it is really very plastic orientated and flimsy. Fitting the water bottle is tricky and if you get it wrong the mess is dreadful. Very disappointed.

Love it! – Finally purchased a sodastream and absolutely love it. The Terra looks great in the kitchen, the gas lasts a long time (a few months) and is very easy to use. Purchased the Terra over other versions, as it was half price when purchased and didn't want to require electricity to use.
Great Machine. Saving Heaps on Soda Water and Soft drink – This machine has been perfect. No longer buying soda water in the bottle from the supermarket, so we are saving a lot of money. You just need to ensure you hold you finger down for a second or two for each pump to ensure maximum fizziness. Looks aesthetically pleasing and a great appliance to add to the kitchen.
