Title: Extremely Disappointed – Sony Refusing to Honour Warranty & Incorrectly Claiming “Intentional Damage” I am extremely disappointed with Sony’s warranty support. My Sony TV, purchased in December 2023, developed a **major internal screen failure** during normal household use. The screen suddenly showed internal cracks and lines with no… Read more

impact, no misuse, and no external damage.

Despite providing clear photos showing an **internal panel failure**, Sony refused to honour the warranty and claimed the damage was “intentional.” This accusation is completely incorrect and was made **without any evidence**. Sony has not explained how they reached this conclusion or provided any technical assessment to support it.

Under **Australian Consumer Law**, a TV must be of acceptable quality and last a reasonable amount of time. A premium Sony TV failing this quickly is unacceptable, and refusing a remedy by blaming the customer is even worse.

I expected better from a brand like Sony. Their refusal to honour a legitimate warranty claim and their unsupported allegation of intentional damage has left me with a faulty TV and no resolution.

I have now escalated the matter to **Consumer Affairs Victoria** and will continue pursuing my rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Very disappointing experience from a company I trusted.

We have had this TV now for over 1 year. Initially we thought the glitchy and slow response to load anything was due to our WiFi signal. We now have NBN Fast Fibre to the property connected direct to TV with Ethernet cable and no improvement. Sony sent one of there repair people out and changed the motherboard with still no result. Repair guy hinted that the Sony series of TV were no good. Would not recommend Sony TV. Show details

We bought a 43" and 50" after having had a Sony for the past 10 years, how I regret that decision. They are slow and terribly glitchy, like using a 15 year old computer. Problems we have had include; 1. Terrible WIFI reception, only works on 5 GHz channel, if it drops to 2.4 GHz you might as well have dial up. Had to install a WIFI extender behind… Read more

each TV and plug them in with a cable. No WIFI reception issues with any other device in our house. 2. Incredibly slow to start up, select and move through apps. Often you'll be 5 minutes in, finally watching something, and then it will wake up and reset to home screen. 3. Glitchy apps, especially SBS Australia. Often will play the audio of the last thing watched on SBS over the top of whatever you happen to be watching now, even if on a completely different app. Need to turn it off at the wall to fix this. 4. Free TV guide generally shows "no information" until it's been on for 15-20 minutes.

Both TV's have exactly the same issues, so I assume it's not just a bad apple. Both updated as required. I'm not sure how much of this is the TV's fault and how much is the Google TV operating system, but since you don't have a choice of operating system it doesn't really matter.

Picture and sound are fine, as expected for any modern TV, but functionality is so poor that I will probably have to buy a 3rd party smart TV adapter and just relegate these to being dumb screens. Total junk, do not recommend at all.

Not recommended at all – Slow interface, kept restarting and wouldn't even turn off I had to plug it off. Sony customer service is absolutely rubbish as well. The good name of the brand the I grew up with doesn't exist anymore. They wasted so much of my time replacing with another broken TV and now taking forever to refund me. If i could give them zero stars I would. Show details

Bad slow tv – This 75 inch Sony TV is such a disappointment! We got it to enjoy the Olympics on the big screen and I wish we kept our 5 year old Panasonic as the picture was much better. People are blurry on screen and the score box/stats in the corner are not readable. Watching AFL football is just as torturous as we can’t distinguish between players. Even… Read more

worse the tv guide does not work. You can scroll down 5 channels & it just freezes. It may restart again, it most likely will not! I can’t believe for this new tv from a supposedly reputable brand that 2 basic features are severely lacking. It’s making me avoid watching tv and this is not me!

Hubby loveS It – Recently purchased this TV for my hubby as a Christmas present. He only had an old TV. He loves the exceptional colour and now he enjoys the cricket more, with his new smart tv, no comparison to the older one he had. This is 2nd Sony Bravia we have and they are a great TV....

Husband loves it – Bought this for my hubby for a Christmas gift, is his first Smart T.V, he loves the colour and the whole look of it. Was easy for me to setup and he is slowly learning what he can do with the new T.V and working the remote control
