Purchased this TV on 23/2/2024 for $1620.00 to replace an 11 year old Kogan 55 inch TV. On 5/1/2026, the Sony's screen did a vertical shimmy, then went black. All attempts at resuscitation failed. Sony's warranty is only 12 months, however the ACCC states a TV should last at least 2 years. Harvey Norman have so far been excellent. They have a 24 Months Product Care Replacement arrangement. Had a technician, organised by HN, come out yesterday to assess the device. Process is ongoing as to whether there is a repair or replacement. Not interested in a repair as Sony has lost my confidence, especially when l see the TV was made in Malaysia. No complaints about performance up until failure. However replacement will be a Samsung product.

Purchased in for $1,620.

As in previous post, Harvey Norman at Chirnside Park, Victoria was excellent. Customer service was second to none. Replacement Samsung QA55Q7FAAW ( made in Vietnam) has, to date, been trouble free and has performed to expectations.

Nice TV but flaky and the customer service is useless – Even though this tv has been out for a while, the software is quite flaky. Using an SSD in the USB port is a painfully slow process, taking around 30 minutes to load 50 directories and then traversing these directories takes about 10 seconds per step. If you are lucky it will not crash before you get to the desired movie file. If it does crash you have to start all over again. So, instead you might try casting from your pc. For this you will need good luck and a great deal of patience. Some days it works, some days it does not. In desperation you might then try to play it on a pc and send it to the tv via HDMI. That works but a 4k tv is a waste of time (in my case) and the occasional 'not in sync' issue can be very annoying. When it is out of sync, it is not by just a few milliseconds, it is several seconds and the video is unwatchable. The most infuriating part of this problem is the woeful customer service. I was told to reset my tv to factory settings. They refused any further assistance until I had done that and then threatened to charge me if they had to do it. As expected, it made zero difference to the problems but has left me with a headache having to sort out the tv again myself and then sort out my subscriptions and passwords etc as well. Having complied with their instruction I called them again to say nothing had improved and they promised me a return phone call from a specialist. More than a week later I am still waiting for that phone call I was promised would be 'the next day'. I am sure the problems with the tv can be sorted out. The problems with their customer service are a bigger problem. At every opportunity, they have not just failed to impress, they have managed to leave me even more underwhelmed and, quite frankly, angry at their attitude, ineptitude and disinterest. In future, I shall be giving far greater consideration to other brands of tv.

UPDATE: I have updated the firmware in the tv which has improved some things and changed the nature of other problems with the final result of no net improvement. I understand some of it better now though so I can report that the microcontroller / microprocessor that runs the tv (but not the video processor which so far seems to be excellent and the main reason I like Sony Bravia tv's), the tv processor is really slow and under powered for the tasks it is expected to do. So after turning the tv on, it may take a minute or two for various functions to start working (eg media server). Sony want us all to learn patience it seems. Still no word back from Sony support.

Picture perfect – Picture clarity and sound excellent. Easy to screen share through Google home, and a reasonable sprinkling of built-in apps. The remote is a bit confusing especially reverse when streaming however overall extremely happy with this Sony smart tv, no dissapointments here.

Great TV ..not the Remote Sony 65" X85L 4K BRAVIA Full Array LED Google TV 23 – Got TV 2 months ago Read about how there are 2 remotes My retailers says only in America? The small remote supplied with TV is substandard and doesn’t even have numbers for the channels? Have looked to buy a remote backlit and proper Sony item that I think should heve been supplied with TV but it is $139 on Amazon . Really have with Sony and the TV but really unhappy with this situation when I spent$2000 on TV being loyal. What can you do?
