Prefer Sony first of all due to the quality of the whole product, we did our research beforehand and got a good deal at JB-hifi. Other brands are a turn off for various reasons, especially Samsung. TV itself has a sleek design with fancy legs. The remote is straightforward. Although, would have preferred it came with the backlit metal larger… Read more
version offered in the US. Unfortunate that there is no AV port for older devices.
Blacks are dark enough for us (obviously not an OLED). Google TV is straight forward, although confusing why it's only running Android 10. The free Bravia Core streaming subscription is a bonus.
We primarily use it for streaming, TV, Blu-ray and gaming.
Overall cannot fault it after 5 months of use.
Extremely Disappointed – Received a Damaged Panel for a Brand-New TV! – I recently purchased a brand-new Sony TV, expecting the premium quality that the brand is known for. However, to my absolute disappointment, the TV arrived with a damaged panel and we noticed that as soon as we turned that on! For a company that prides itself on quality, this is completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, the customer… Read more
service experience has been nothing short of frustrating. Instead of a quick and efficient resolution, I’ve had to jump through hoops, wasting my time trying to get the issue sorted. A brand-new TV should not arrive damaged, and customers should not have to fight for basic service!
I expected better quality control and customer support from a company like Sony. This experience has completely shattered my trust in the brand.
If you’re considering buying a Sony TV, think twice! You might end up with a defective product and a painful resolution process. Sony, do better.
Sony should be disgusted with themselves! – Sony should be disgusted with themselves! After spending more on a tv than we wanted to, it arrived damaged. I’m completely gobsmacked with the rude and demeaning approach that we got after we immediately contacted them to inform them what had happened. They firstly tried to blame the damage on us which is humerus at best considering I’m an… Read more
electrician and am very aware of how delicate you need to be with these kinds of tvs. We even watched the instructional video to make sure it was correctly installed. They then tried to “offer” us a trade in.
I simply want the tv I paid for! Stop being a bunch of crooks!!!!
Almost perfect in many ways – Bought to replace a dying panel 8 yr old LG. I bought the full array LED over the OLED A80L due to the lightnness of our lounge room. Other than the panel, it appears that both the X90L and the A80L are very similar in specs and both have the Bravia XR processor. The X90L is easy to set up, full of features and i personally love the chrome cast… Read more
ability. I’m using a Bose soundbar, so whilst the standard TV speakers are good ( much better than the LG TV it replaces), l prefer the sound from the Bose.
The smart tv functions are quick and don’t appear laggy.
The remote is small and doesn’t have numbers so there’s a need to scroll through the channels rather than key in the channel number… 1st world issue.
So far I’d give the TV a 4.5 star rating …. Very good
Poor sound for a premium brand – The sound quality is really poor for a premium brand, spoiling the experience of the overall product. Picture quality, ease of use, ability to add apps, casting, etc. are about what I expected. For the price though, I expected a unit with much better sound quality. Show details
Mediocre Picture and Sound – The TV is a midrange SONY model, the best LED full array LCD unit before mini LEDs. I happen to also own its natural competitor , a Samsung 80B series which is equally their best LED full array LCD. Their features are evenly matched as are the prices. The SONY XR90L has a less brightness and contrast compared to the Samsung and is just generally… Read more
dull. The blacks look poor and the colours dull. The upscaling, which is so critical now days as sources and streaming services vary so much in the quality of each thing they show, is also mediocre on the SONY. The Samsung leaves it for dead. Overall, even ignoring the Samsung, the SONY just looks lacklustre
The sound on the SONY is tinny and to be honest, exceptionally poor for a $2000 TV. They trumpet the ability to add external sound bars and a special ' S Centre ' speaker and now that i own the TV, i know why! The built in sound is that terrible. Again, the Samsung is like a HIFI system by comparison. Note that the SONY is advertised as coming with 'positioning speakers' - ie extra speakers to make it all sound better but the total result is just weak, hollow and tinny.
The remote is a good point, it still has some key buttons like input select which the Samsung doesn't. The Android TV system is fine and gives you a large range of apps. Note though that you can’t cast a computer to the TV directly, they force you to use chrome cast via a google chrome browser which doesn’t work well. You can’t control the resolution for example and it just doesn’t use the simple ways built into windows or Apple.
Overall, it is just a mediocre TV from a leading manufacturer. I was mislead by the instore Demo as there it looks as good as the Samsung. At home though it is chalk and cheese. I am not a lifelong Samsung fan, i gave this SONY TV a go. Once SONY tube Trinitron TVs were the best, no doubt about it, now days i am afraid with the 90L, they are just trading off their name. I really suggest you avoid it, poor picture and terrible sound. I respect the other reviewers but maybe they converted from much older TVs.
Quality – So far so good we have had a few months now however doesn’t like too many clicks on the remote control (small kids) it will freeze and you have to reset by switching power supply on and off. The picture quality is amazing, the ease of use is fantastic. The sound quality is great. The functions are great. The set up was seamless. Show details
Great 2nd TV – My budget is under $2k and this is the best one for me. Picture quality is good and better with motion processing for fast-moving scenes so no motion judder as this function is very important for me when watching netflix, prime and Disneys+. AI upscaling on x264 MP4 720p is mediocre, 1080p just ok but x265 codec upscaling on 1080p & 4k are great.… Read more
Most videos now use x265 codec anyway. Sound quality is great and remote control still use batteries. WIFI has no problem at all.
