Worst tv and support – Worst tv and support. Spent 30 mins with support just for them to repeat themselves. And then put me on hold and then repeat. Had this tv for about 5 years cannot connect to internet but three Samsung I've had for 10 years can. Never but Sony again.

Panel failure – The panel of this TV started to show white lines in less than 5 years of infrequent use. Many people on internet are complaining about the same issue which means that this model has a manufacturing defect. Sony support were so bad and slow at replying, at the end, they asked us to pay around 600$ to replace the panel. We decided to never buy a Sony TV again.

LED Panel issues – Do not buy this TV model. I own 2 and both have the same issues with the screen horizontal lines and colour distortions. After reading other reviews I realise that must be a problem to this especific model. Definitely give it a miss! No worth the money you are investing.  Show details

Been a good reliable TV – We've had this TV for about 5 years and its been good and trouble free. No picture issues, remote working 100% in a household with children - a good clean image straight out of the box. Colours not oversaturated, movement not blurry at speed, smart functions fine though not all still being supported lately (which is as much as Sony and Youtube etc… Read more

not working together).

Recommended for a trouble-free experience and a picture quality expected from a more expensive model.

Certainly not built to last – I have this TV and it was OK. I didn't think the "Smart TV" functions were very good, often they just wouldn't work for no apparent reason. I had it connected with Ethernet, so the problem definitely wasn't to do with wireless. I basically ended up rarely using it. Also has some, hard to describe, intermittent sound problems right from the… Read more

beginning, that I could never put a service call in about as it was intermittent (the sound would badly echo every so often).

I also thought that the instructions were hard to follow, certainly not intuitive, I still had to get the manual out, every time I wanted to do anything out of the ordinary, after years of use.

However, I put up with that and wasn't too worried, but I spent a lot of money on it and expected it to last for years. (I still have another TVs in the house that are older, spent a lot less on, and they still work).

Now, I bought a PVR and it is supposed to be connected with HDMI, but the Sony HDMI connections won't work with it. At first I thought that the PVR was faulty (the picture and sound kept cutting out) and was about to demand my money back, but I then tried it on another, older and cheaper TV that only has ONE HDMI connection and it works fine on that one. Then I tried it on my oldest TV, that too works fine).

When I phoned Sony, (after getting me to reset it, etc.) I was told that this is just the way it is, I should upgrade my TV!!!

The warranty has run out, of course, but he said that I am welcome to put in a service call, but he doubts anything could be done, and would still have to pay the call out fee.

They did offer a discount on a new TV (although I could probably shop around and get a better deal) however, after this experience, my next TV will definitely not be a Sony!

I know that some people replace all their gadgets every time something newer and shinier comes on the market, but I am not like that. Being a pensioner, I couldn't afford to be like that, even if I wanted to.

Do not buy sony – I purchased a 40'' colour Sony LED TV KDL-EX520 in December 2011 Now I am facing the vertical lines and distortion on the screen, when approached the customer care they asked to do the Factory settings which I did but the problem still exists. Then an engineer came to inspect the TV. He told me that it was the display panel problem and which needs to be changed and the cost would be around$600 I can afford it now. Use less tv and tv less me.

Panel issues after 2.5 years – I don't use the TV all that often but I like a good picture when I do. This TV was purchased in a rush with little comparison done. After owning it for a while I was satisfied with the picture and the features I needed were all present. I worked well with my AV receiver using HDMI ARC. There were some issues with the responsiveness of the TV, ie… Read more

accessing menus could be a bit slow. It also takes an age for the TV to respond to the remote after you first turn it on which was quite frustrating at times. all in all I was content to use it for the next few years. However 2.5 years after purchasing it the panel displayed major issues. The top half of the screen showed lines and "buzzing" and lost colour. The TV is unusable, but I had taken out an extended warranty at JB so it has been picked up and taken to the repair centre. Connectivity, decent features Stopped working, not convinced of Sony's quality anymore. They no longer make their TV's and many other products in house. Do not be fooled into thinking Sony TV's are of the same quality they were 10 years ago. They lose are no longer profitable in the TV sector and are outsourcing most of their design and manufacturing.

Great TV, would recommend – UPDATED: Had this TV for around 18mths. Very pleased with this TV, use it as a PC monitor and TV, watch a lot of Apple TV online and find its great, did not want to pay for 3D that I would not use. This is our second Sony Bravia in 6 years and would not buy anything else at this stage. For me the price was excellent, I know Samsung seem to… Read more ·  1

Sony KDL46EX520 Series – The picture quality and colour is not as dynamic and sharp as I thought it would be. Still good just not as crisp as a Toshiba of roughly the same size. Bought the wifi dongle so as to access internet tv as well. All good. I do like the layout of the programme guide for digital tv as it enables you to peruse the channels without changing the… Read more

channel you are currently on. I love that it has 4 HDMI sockets for quality when connecting other devices. I do like the sound on this tv as the sound can be projected through the front speakers which is great if you don't have a surround sound system. TV Guide, reliable, sound is good. Picture quality not as dynamic and sharp as Toshiba.
