Netflix keeps dropping out when starting – Netflix keeps cutting off when starting and WiFi signal is very weak compared to other TVs - Bought a WiFI extender and a chromecast to fix problem - Previous Sony Bravia TV lost its digital tuner and I bought a set top box to fix that problem - Will not be buying another Sony product ever again Show details

Don’t buy! – We bought this TV brand new 3-4years ago. Suddenly Netflix stopped working on the tv and although Sony kept telling us it was a network issue which it wasn’t, we persisted and had a technician come out. Aside from the $99 call out fee, when assessed we were told it’s a motherboard issue that’s only causing Netflix not to work and wanted $650!… Read more

Honestly I can’t comprehend how the motherboard would cause only 1 app to stop working but worse than that I can’t believe they asked for $650 to fix the issue. Needless to say we didn’t fix it given the excessive cost. Do not buy this TV. If we had our time again we would buy a Samsung tv that has a App Store not just the limited apps on this tv.

Silly me, I was under the impression that smart TVs were suppose to work under a range of conditions.

LED panel broke after 1 year – The LED panel had patches and bands of dead pixels after 1 year of use. Luckily I took out product care and got a replacement due to a major failure. The replacement TV took two months to arrive however. Overall, I like Sony as a brand. The TV had great resolution and colour.

Will never buy a Sony again – Bought the now discontinued KD65X8500B the first one was damaged in the box with a cracked screen, this was replaced. The second one arrived and was awesome once setup. A month later I had to move the TV and when picking it up from underneath the LCD screen cracked. The ONLY Sony dealer in Perth came out to inspect and deemed it intentional damage… Read more

and left me with a $187 bill for the call out (I had also purchased the $300 extended warranty which was now void) and a quote for $3200 to repair it. I only paid $3000 originally so they are taking the anger here. Insurance was awesome and offered me the more expensive C series but I told them to stick Sony where it fits and got the Samsung which is great. After sales service is terrible and they treat you like crap.

Good price, great product – Excellent picture quality and sound, good price from goodguys. 4K Sony 49" for $998.00. Very easy to set up and use. Only issue is the shiny glass screen. As I placed the TV in my living room, Had to set the brightness to the maximum to avoid reflection of the windows. Didn't have the same issue with my old Toshiba matte screen (42"). Unless… Read more ·  1

you are going to place the TV in a dark theatre room, think twice before buy as in the shop they keep them in a dark area so you will not notice this until you come home.

The next issue I'm having with the TV is the 3D content playback. It only works when the TV recognise the 3D video signal. The problem is often it doesn't. Even the same file that get picked up for the first time won't work the next time. Manually can't enable either, the options are greyed out.

Some cheap Chinese TVs have Android based operating systems with some sort of an app store built in. With Sony it is very limited. Doesn't give you the search function either, so you have to go page by page to find what you are looking for often to be disappointed with missing apps.

As for the basic functions as a TV, this one dose a remarkable job. but these modern days we consumers expect much more...That's why 4 stars.

One Awesome TV – Just installed this TV. Wow!!!!!!! This is the most amazing TV we have ever had, and it's got everything. We are now listening to You Tube videos through the surround sound theatre and the colours of this TV with the Triluminos screen are simply amazing. I can download any exercise video I want, plus it has a headphone jack for those who like to… Read more

walk on a treadmill or use a stationary bike late at night and not disturb the neighbours. This TV is incredible. My husband is rapt with it and the navigation on screen is actually quite good. A lot better than I thought it would be. Videos download faster than our computers hooked up to cable. There are so many apps to choose from, the screens for the apps just keep going, and that's only one small part of this TV. You can have 3D movies late at night (it has passive 3D) with Beats on and not wake the kids. The set up was so incredibly easy as well. Just push a few buttons (all directed with on screen commands) and you're done! All the new music clips show up as having incredible colour. It also has an internet browser app so you can search through your wifi. You type it up and a video will show up. It's that easy. Husband says it's awesome, wicked, and money well spent. He wishes he bought the 79 inch (the one I wanted) but it was 7K. Oh well, it's in our future :)

Delighted with the new Sony 4K TV – We had a tired old 42" LCD TV, so decided it was time to update. 65" was the preferred size, and I decided to go 4K as they've come down in price a lot and certainly look better than FullHD on very large televisions, even though there is nothing broadcast in 4k, and not even much in 1080! Started looking in all the shops, and narrowed the field… Read more

down to Sony and Samsung, and found that one big problem we face is reflection. ALL of the new televisions are very reflective unlike our old LCD which was matte, but after studying them all, the Sony came up as the best, though still more reflective than I'd like. (Our TV room is surrounded by windows.)

The new Sony 65" is fantastic, with vibrant colours, good interpolation between pixels and great functionality. BlueRay movies and even 3D come up very well (the Sony has a passive 3D system, so extra 3D glasses are cheap as chips.)

Photos from my SLR camera look absolutely fabulous! LAN cable and wifi connections are included, along with multiple USB inputs and 4 x HDMI, though on screen web navigation is a pain, using the remote- an add-on keyboard is on my shopping list- a must in my opinion if you are doing anything web related.

We are absolutely delighted with our new Sony TV, and amazingly, it uses less power than our old 42" LCD. We find it very hard to fault, apart from the reflective screen which is annoying in daylight, but other brands are only worse!

Update

January 2016

I've lowered my rating from 5 to four stars...

Still very happy with the actual TV, not quite so happy with s-l-o-w power up, and the stupid illogical channel setup. It does NOT give me the ability to delete unwanted channels, and when you select "channel up" or "down" on the remote it seems to go all over the place, even including radio stations.

I don't like the remote, always find it difficult to navigate around (why are Sony different to EVERYBODY else?)

In short, not overly impressed with the software interface and remote, but still LOVE the actual television, (though the reflective screen is still an issue in all but a dark room.)

I find I'm using the "smart" TV functions less and less, and usually either just watch TV or use my media centre NUC computer, (which is awesome!) or Panasonic HDD recorder for recording and watching programs. (The processor in the TV is sooooo slow, must be a 286 LOL)

In short, we love watching this TV, don't like the "smart" functionality.
