Sony Vaio Z Series

Hinge Broken – My VAIO Z series is now 3 years old and the Right Hand Side hinge is starting to give way. Sony repairers in Sydney want $800.00 to repair it? ...Apparently, it is not possible to change the hinge, but the whole Screen / Chassis assembly has to be replaced.........to me it seems like daylight robbery. Apart from the hinge problem, the laptop has worked well. Very expensive to repair
Sony never again – Just went through the worst experience after a few keys stopped working for no reason on my $4400 Z series. It has taken 27 phone calls and 12 emails to finally get a refund from them. ( I documented every call and email over the 3 months it took). I swear the stress of dealing with them has taken a few years of my life. The lies that the customer… Read more
service center would come up with each time was incredible. I believe there method is to try and wear you down to the point you cant be bothered. Are they mad!!! $4400 for a laptop that is in perfect condition and you think I'm just going to walk away.
You can't treat your customers that way and expect that they will stay loyal. It is no wonder they are struggling financially as they treat you like you are a fool. I also had to buy another laptop while I waited and bought an Apple mac book pro 13" 512g ssd. I wish I had known how good they were to start with as it is a fantastic laptop with better specs and $1700 cheaper! Please if you are reading this take my advice and keep well clear of Sony products because the company has absolutely no respect for there customers.
Expensive and the worlds worst customer service.
Rubbish product even more rubbish customer service! – This product was purchased at a considerable investment of $4500 inclusive of the extended warranty. It was thought that buying the best and state of the art with Solid State Drive and peace of mind reliability would provide long term benefit. How wrong could we have been! 1 month approximately after the purchase and with minimal use, the… Read more
laptop crashed! Sony Solutions Centre Perth confirmed that the SSD had failed was faulty and needed to be replaced. We lost the computer for 5 days and all our data and licenses as we hadn't had the chance to back up.
This was only the beginning of our problem! When we presented the machine to servicing, it was provided in a felt case and felt mat was used between the keyboard and screen for extra protection as we were so so careful with it. Sony Perth took it, stripped the felt covers and took it bare.
When we picked it up the invoice was conveniently attached on top of the folded screen. We took it home and attended to it that night, as it was useless prior due to been restored to factory settings during replacement of the SSD.
At home we removed the receipt only to discover in horror that top lid was scratched across the black and chrome embossing and there was also pit in the surface where a chunk of plastic was missing. We were disgusted! Upon further inspection, which after that discovery was clearly warranted, we found another issue.
Our flawless brand new computers serial number had suffered suspicious wear. Considering the base has little rubber feat and we have been so so careful with it, it appears someone has done something to it. The hologram coloured line was worn and there was also a black smudge or grease smear on it. We took it back to Sony Solutions Centre Perth, where allegations were made as to the damage and questions asked if the computer was in fact fixed or were we given a refurbished machine!
Surprisingly they said very little and told us to call head office which we did.
After hounding Sony Customer Care for customer care, can only be compared to pulling teeth without any anaesthetic. We demanded a refunded, they eventually responded via a text a week later that as a gesture of goodwill they would replace with brand new. We said that was not an option, refund only option for them, cheque or EFT period.
Finally after threatening legal action for loss of income incurred through lack of functioning computer needed to carry out brokerage work, they agreed to a refund.
They have been dragging this out for three weeks. No follow up, nor returning of calls until today when I found a number which I was contacted from that was unblocked. I again was told of more delays with refund. When told to hurry up and go to bank and deposit today into our account and demanded the name of the General Manager which she did not provide, the lovely [name removed], hung up on me, parting words,"your refund will be sent next week". This I have heard now for the last two with a new excuse each time.
We have only survived this ordeal by purchasing a second laptop, a Mac Book Pro 15" with upgraded drive and processor at considerable cost out of pocket yet again. At least it works, and it an absolute pleasure to use. We were also left with the fallout of the lost data, programs and licenses worth $1000,00 especially AutoCAD. We were also left extremely embarrassed by the time wasted for company IT staff have now had to double up on reprogramming new computer considering they did the other not more than two weeks prior. We also lost $1000's of dollars in sales also.
Sony, what happened to you? Never again, no thanks, not even for free!
Change to MAC and never look back!!!
Poor product quality and even worse customer service (or lack thereof)
