SHORT LIFE SONY BRAVIA 65 inch SMART TV – Simply a very short life for this Sony Bravia 65 inch Smart TV. Purchased 2020 and cost a lot of my money and now I have to purchase a new TV and it certainly will not be Sony. On looking around online I notice I am not alone with this complaint. Why not label TV expected life on product. General comment online by TV/ electronics people is these should last 7/10 YEAR !!!!!!!!..................where is that investigation coming from. Show details

Trash, steer clear of all things Sony – This TV has very few available apps and more can’t be added, I bought this TV for my elderly mother and both of us are very dissatisfied, I thought it was a true smart TV and could be updated but it can’t, in addition the buttons on the remote are much too small and too close together causing us to constantly double press or press the wrong… Read more

button accidentally, typical Sony underbrained trash, I have never been a fan of Sony products and I will never purchase anything Sony again nor will I recommend any Sony product.

2K and 4K content night scenes can be very dull – I have had this SONY TV nearly two years, it is a big let down. I am finding it hard to view 4K content and certain 2K night scenes content, it is hard to see the dark scenes when they appear on the TV. This is when I watch the TV during the day with the blinds closed and at night with the light off. This TV is definitely not for 4K viewing, I… Read more

paid $1395.00 at the time of purchase and I will never buy a SONY TV ever again, their screens are too grey and cheap looking. The panel is wobbly as well, it is made of plastic and it is not very sturdy.

Very disappointing and that there are hardly any streaming apps on it now and I can not download any apps for the TV. A few apps had disappeared when I first updated the software. The images on the screen looks off balanced, hanging down from the left side and raised on the right side. I have noticed this watching widescreen content with the top and bottom black bars. It's not a smart TV, it's a dull TV, one would think of paying so much money for a 4K TV that this would do justice to enjoy movies and TV shows but it doesn't.

If you are thinking of buying this TV, forget it, as I think now it would be an of stock model and it is not worth any money at all, even if it is on a special price below $900.00, don't take the risk of buying this TV.

Picture is ok, but rest of the unit is very poor – Not an apps user so bought this TV solely for picture quality, movies and occasional TV use. Refuses to connect laptop via HDMI cable TV does not recognise the signa;). Impossible to sync sound and visuals. Both analogue and digital Audio Out simply refuses to work on any HDMI input. In general, my 11 year old Panasonic Plasma out performs this… Read more

Bravia in 90% of my viewing needs.

NZ is known as a dumping ground for manufacturer's poor quality products which retailers then knock out at bargain-basement prices - the X7000G is no exception. Will look to return to JBHifi for a refund. Picture quality is ok, but would not buy a Sony TV again. I ignored every negative/honest review... I shouldn't have. Do not recommend even for the most basic of viewing needs.

No new apps – I feel totally ripped off…. I thought I was buying a smart tv only to find out it has a very limited set of apps and according to support I can’t add any more. Show details

No New Apps – As this TV is not android and its running it's own operating system, you are unable to install new apps. Picture quality is alright but the operating system is junk. Spend a bit more and get the android version or look at other brands

Not a true smart TV – Not Android based. No ability to load apps. Sony decides what apps you can have. Very poor smart tv I would not recommend this tv. Pay a little extra and ensure you get a android based unit. Sony do have them ? Show details

Junk! – You would think this day and age we live in you would receive quality when buying a big brand like SONY. This TV is junk it will be the last time I buy anything Sony. Won't connect to the internet we have done all the trouble shooting we can!

Terrible – Not a smart TV. Can’t add apps. Syncs well if you have Sony sound. Terrible for sports and any level of gaming. All pixelated around players heads. It’s like it’s barely SD. No processor. Normal speakers a joke. Strange picture and colour quality. Will be asking to return tomorrow. I’ve had it for less than 24 hours and changed the settings. To use it with Apple TV, you need to set it to HDR screen setting only,so forget cinema etc. Show details

Faulty from day one. Sony WILL NOT honor the warranty – As other have reported it is very clumsy to use as a smart TV I'd be Prepared to put up with that but as it was bought for my mother it is impractical. The problem is that it has been " Jamming up " since day one. Just stops responding to any command from the remote control. Sony just kept giving me the run around. I must have spent an hour… Read more

on the phone with them asking me to try this and try that. Then they sent me an email with instructions asking me to reload the software or whatever to no effect at all. Then they just ignored my further requests for support. I would have to harass them with emails and they'd eventually answer and make more promises. Would not return calls as promised. At one stage they asked me to purchase a new remote control to see if that's the problem ! So my 92 year old mother has to constantly get up, turn the TV off at the wall and back on as per their advice. The last communication I had from them was to inform me that they had made me a priority. That was six weeks ago on the 14th of December.

DO NOT BUY – Absolutely massive disappointment. The picture etc is ok, but I DO NOT consider it a SMART TV - the user cannot add apps or remove apps – it is set by Sony – it simply plays pre-loaded online. So is it REALLY a SMART TV??? Went back to Sony to complain but apparently it is working to spec - no "hey sorry, let's work something out to keep our… Read more

important customers satisfied" etc just did not want to know about it - proving ever more that they know it's a lemon and need to stay sold... It is the 3rd TV (1 x 2015 32", 1 x 2019 43") and this is just the same App"system" as the others - so I didn't even need to "upgrade" in the first place apart from the 4k upgrade and the larger screen size. Over all - MASSIVE Disappointment.

Totally brilliant you pay more for the best quality – The colours are incredible the black is very deep black. The detail is unbeatable. I have extended maximum JB Hi-Fi warranty. My partner has the 55 inches Sony Bravia she bought at the same time. Both units operate without any problems. I am a Cinematographer and would not use any other brand of TV . Also I always by full extended warranty with all appliances I purchase. Show details

Wonderful television – We love our new 55 inch TV. The picture quality is absolutely mind blowing. Television was delivered in perfect condition. Great product – The TV is a great product with a reasonable price. Although there was some problems with the original mother board, Sony took immediate action to order a new board and fixed the problem in a timely manner. Show details

Will never buy Sony again – Terrible TV. It doesnt do the one thing I brought it for Foxtel. App is out or date. sony refuse to rectify the issue. When Sony do deals with Foxtel to put apps on their TV's they should work on all formats of Foxtel. Misleading and not fit for purpose and Sony refuse to rectify the issue. A TV all about compromises – This is the cheapest 65" TV in the current Sony 2019 range and there are reasons for this. This is not an android tv and does not come with a full play store of apps to install. The majority of apps installed are designed to just work. Netflix and Youtube work great. The upscaler for free to air is the only thing that has stopped me returning… Read more

this TV to Costco. Even SD channels are watchable and for a 4k tv that is impressive. Image quality is really good and colours are very vibrant. Hooked up to a suitable chromecast the tv will perform well with google home commands. The inbuilt speakers work well for day to day use. Now the compromises. The usb ports aren't powered on standby so the chromecast won't switch on until the TV is on. TV recording is available but live pausing is not. If live pausing worked I would give a whole extra star. The USB ports would not work with my 2.5" usb hdds. They don't supply sufficient power but will work ok with a USB thumbdrive. There is no bluetooth for audio or control. There are no phone apps that can help control the device. There is limited network media capability. Wireless Screensharing is pointless as it forces you to connect to its own wifi and therefore lose the devices's internet so its only capable of sharing local media. EPG does not retain and seek future program information so relies on you to visit the particular channel before the data updates. ARC does work but commands don't work consistently even with a Sony home theatre unit. Volume should override to home theatre but instead runs volume adjustment on both tv and HT. Other that the better image quality and screen size, I still prefer my 5 yr old 55" panasonic which did everything right. If you just want a tv that does most of the basics right and you don't care about connectivity options this will work just fine.

Would never buy a Sony TV again – Have been a loyal Sony TV person my whole life until a couple of years ago - I bought this to replace another that died 3 months out from the warranty period and Sony wouldn't budge. This TV has never been right - TV guide continually drops out. Doesn't turn on spasmodically. Won't read USBs or alike. Unreliable product and pretty average picture… Read more

compared to the Samsung. We contacted Sony as instructed to do so by JBHIfi who didn't want to know about it either and Sony were no help for the second time so never again. They make it the process so difficult and convoluted that I have better things to do with my life than dig out receipts from 2 years ago (they wouldn't accept a bank statement) as proof of purchase. It went out for hard waste and we bought a Samsung and have never looked back. Much superior product and Sony aftercare leaves a lot to be desired. The warranty is good for nothing and there is a reason it expires after 2 years.

Sold a pup – I went to to the Good Guys Port Macquarie to buy a $1295 65" Android Sony TV. The salesman told me it was $1245 so I was happy that it was cheaper than the other retailers. I bought it on the spot and had it up on the wall inside an hour. It wasn't until I did some research on the apps that were available for this TV that I found out I hadn't… Read more

bought the Android TV I wanted. In fact the Good Guys website doesn't even list this TV so I'm guessing it is older stock that they wanted to shift and the salesman saw me coming. It's a Linux TV and has no ability to download apps. The fact that Sony advertise this TV in their "SMART TV" range is extremely misleading because unless you are able to convince Sony to write an app for the service you want and provide it to you in the next software upgrade you are going to have to connect a device like a Roku to it, which defeats the purpose of having a so-called SMART TV. I've seen comments on the Internet from people who were using apps on this type of TV only to have Sony remove it in a software "upgrade". They did that to me on my old Sony and I lost access to YouTube. I was using a Telstra Roku device to access Netflix on my old Sony TV and never had a problem with the audio lagging the video but suddenly with this TV, Netflix audio is now lagging the video noticeably. The TV looks good and I'm pretty sure it has the same screen as the TV I was going to buy and as long as you are happy having access to only the apps Sony want you to have it will meet your requirements. My advice - for what it's worth - pay a little extra and buy the Android TV. Don't touch this with a forty foot barge pole.
