I can thoroughly recommend this easy to use digital radio – I purchased Sony XDR-41D for bedroom and bathroom use in 2019. Tried a few DAB+ radios over the years and was looking for a model that had an easy to use interface. The user interface/menu is straightforward and easy to use. It's very easy to assign stations to preset buttons. After 2.5 years use I can thoroughly recommend this radio. One… Read more
small niggle was that battery compartment did not open easily without prising open with a knife. This was fixed by carefully filing down down the retention clips on the lid. DAB+ is heavy on batteries so I use re-chargeable Li-Ion batteries rather than disposable type.
A very nice compact radio – I bought this radio (white) from Sony Australia via eBay. A very nice compact unit with DAB+/FM. Works very well in our area that often has average reception. It took 5 min to set it up and to program our five favourite stations. The sound is not bad for a small unit. In battery mode requires 4xAA. Excellent quality, fast delivery and great communication. Excellent little DAB Radio – This is a stylish, easy to use, well-built radio which is small enough to be inconspicuous in any room. Considering the size of the unit, the sound, both for voice and music, is very good indeed. Even at a distance from the nearest large city, reception for DAB is perfect - crystal clear and free from interference. Ditto for FM. Very suitable for bedroom, bathroom or taking out in the garden. Works as specified – Works great as a nearby radio, but best is that for us older insomniacs it sits on pillow and pre-sets are easy to access. Call it the "Philip Adams" of radios
Great Radio – After having a useless Digital radio I thought I'd have another crack. This radio is fantastic. It picks up all digital channels and they sound good through the decent sized speakers. The menu is easy to use and navigate through.Presets are easy to set up. The construction is typical Sony Quality. It runs on batteries or 240v mains power. The only issue would be a few more presets to program.
The Most Annoying Radio I've Ever Owned – The radio is much last the previous model EXCEPT for the volume control. The control dial is difficult and cumbersome - it is set in to the radio and is hard to move and goes through many stages of volume and displays every conceivable stage. There is nothing quick about it. Also, if you want to adjust it during the night, a light comes on and… Read more
annoying stays on for some time. This happens EVERY time you adjust the volume. The preset stations are difficult to preset. I still haven't worked out how to do it and the instructions are vague. I hate this radio.
Love this new white radio from Sony - it also comes in black – It’s white but there is a black model also. The white looks modern and sleek, and blends into the modern house perfectly. With 5 preset buttons on the top, I tuned in my favourite radio stations and can easily click from one to the other. I used the auto tune for FM but it seemed to miss the ABC stations including the local one, Radio National… Read more
and Triple J. I had to manually tune them in which was a little trickier but now they are on my presets I just click from one to the other.
The sound is clear and crisp. Perfect for talk back radio or listening to radio tunes but it’s not perfect sound for music as you probably want something with a larger speaker but this is ideal for a small portable radio. It needs to be plugged in with the included AC adapter or it can run on 4 x AA batteries which are not included. I used rechargeable batteries purchased from Coles and they fit easily. I use the DAB when I’m in A digital radio area and the FM the rest of the time in my regional area. I couldn’t buy this radio in my local area as it’s not a Digital radio area so I shopped around online and purchased it for under $100. The LCD display is very clear. I’ve used the sleep timer which is handy but it also has a wake up timer which I haven’t tried. I love it.
