We last used our St. Gorge Owen a long time ago. Now, it makes a clicking sound. When we open the oven for a while, the clicking sound stops. What do you think I should do to stop the clicking?

I have double St George oven. Recently one of the ovens is not heating up. The light is on and it’s warm but not hot. It happened before and when I press ‘reset’ it was fine again. I have noticed that it happens when I clean and accidentally touch the buttons. However I never know what to press to fix it back. It seems to me that I accidentally set it up to ‘keep warm’ instead of ‘cook’. Which buttons should I press to cancel it and get it to cook?

Hi, does anyone have or know about model # 8600300PS is like?? better or worse?? under bench electric oven. Cheers

I haven't seen this brand around for years. Really it is hard to find parts. external link  If you look at that link you will find how many are unavailable and that some parts are from other brands. Certainly When I owned the freestanding model it was a piece of junk... At some point they told me some of their parts came from other brands. I got to a point where I decided to scrap it and bought another brand.

Hi, I just used the self cleaning pyrolysis function last night. We had to turn the oven off mid way through the cycle at the mains as it heated up so much we thought it could start a fire. But this morning the self- locking remains on and the oven door is locked tight - I assume because we turned it off mid cycle. Not sure how to unlock it. Anyone know?

The handle of this oven has come loose on the right side (I am paranoid it will come off altogether very soon!) and I can’t seem to work out how to tighten this. I assumed I may have to remove the door completely to find a hidden screw, but can’t even work out how to take the door off its hinges... Does anyone have advice on how to fix the handle (and remove the door)?

Joe W
Joe W

Your model is newer than the one I had but my door glass broke because of flexing and suspected it was the handle. The manual should tell you how to remove the door but I cannot think that they changed that very much from the pre2011 models as they were already strapped for cash.

From manual obtained online for another one:

Kleenmaid has all of the manual pre 2011 online

8.5 Removing Oven Door The oven door can easily be removed for better access while cleaning. To remove oven door:- 1 .Open the door fully and pull the clips back towards you and onto the hooks. There is one on each side look at figure in manual. 2. Again raise the door slightly. 3. Holding the sides of the door near the top and making sure that the clips stay on the hooks, raise the door gently. This action will disconnect the hinges. 4. Remove the door by continuing to raise it while pulling gradually towards you. To replace the oven door:- 1 .Slide the hinges into the slots, making sure that on each side the top curved arm goes into the top slot and the lower arm goes into the lower slot. 2. Make sure the hinges are pushed in as far as they will go, then open the door fully. The clips will be released from the hooks. 3. Raise the door slightly and ensure the clips are released from the hooks and return to their resting position. 30

The magnetic strip has come off the door of my St George side opening oven. What do I use to glue it back?

paulusda
paulusda

I wood google high temperature glue, looking for something rated to probably at least 75degreesC (I'm assuming the magnet is outside the door seal) and suitable for gluing metal. You could also just go to Bunnings & check the labels on their glues. If you cant find a glue, another option would be a high temperature silicone sealant (also at Bunnings).

(Once fixed, you may have to do it again after some time, but thats ok right?)

The oven mentioned works well on normal settings but the element does not work or turns off when put on the fan force setting. This sounds like a switch or control panel problem, not a thermostat. What is your opinion?

vickiswanson
vickiswanson

if the element doesn't work when the fan is on you definitely have a problem that can only be repaired by a technician - this happened with my smeg actually

paulusda
paulusda

If it were me, Id still try the thermostat. I suspect therell be more heat getting through the oven wall to the thermostat when on fan forced. What happens when you turn the oven up to max (without fan)? Are you able to heat up to max temp, or does the element turn off early? A thermostat is just a switch. From memory there are 3 different ones on the back of the oven (outside). By pulling the oven out of the wall (& taking cover off, from memory), an electrician can check the status of the thermostats using an ohmmeter- firstly when the oven is turned on, and secondly when the fault occurs. If no readings change then the fault is elsewhere, however if one of the readings change then that thermostat is almost certainly the culprit. There is mains voltage high current running through some of these, your electrician will take appropriate precautions. If I could remember all the symptoms of my parents oven I would say whether they exactly match yours, but it was too long ago for me to remember that much detail. Good luck!

My 600mm St George oven is about 9 years old and the element keeps turning off. I have to reset the timer to restart it. I need to know what the problem is (electric switch etc) so I can work out whether to repair it or just buy a new plug in oven

St George went out of business - I thought it was about time the most overpriced piece of garbage I ever bought. I would beware of going to great expense repairing it as spares must be getting scarce.

These are the places I used to get parts previously ( after they closed)

external link

Beware that the repairers I got charged an arm and a leg just to get them to come out and look at it. The problem being that they won't have a spare to suit with them as the product is no longer made or supported Thus another visit and travel time etc. The bill I got that clinched it for me was over $1000 for a door replacement

Does anyone know and recommend a St George repairman in Perth? I have a St George double oven and I presume the element in the bottom oven has gone as it is not heating up. hoping someone can help me.

Joe W
Joe W

I cannot verify this but the oven I had the repairman that came to fix it said that he believed Fisher and Paykel made some of the models and that he could find parts that were common. However, when I was going to repair mine the second time I found that the few suppliers of spares said really anyone can service it. They are not different and suggested I get a repair person from any of the larger repair places but that it would require 2 visits as they would have to identify the problem and then order the spare part. The best spare part online company where I could see the models is Stove connection and the next best Nationwide spares. Hope this will help.

We have a St George oven that is a few years old but hardly used. The door never really closed properly until I discovered that the inner skin of the door was warped in the middle. I took it apart, straightened it and re-assembled it. It closed correctly for a while then warped again. Went through the same procedure and it lasted for a while before warping again.

Question: is this a design fault and are there any suggestions on how to fix it permanently ? Thanks in advance.

Ernest
Ernest

Maybe...I'm not sure, this is the first time I've owned a st George oven, but I think I know what your talking about. I recently had a electrician come over and fix a wire inside that shorted. He also removed the door and used a screw driver and hammer to tap some thing in. Where the hinges go in, cause it wasn't closing properly, but now it closes completely now.

Frank
Frank

I'd take the door off the oven and completely remove the hinges from the door. Have a look to see if the hinges are still straight or whether they are slightly bent. This is what happened to us and was causing the inner skin to continually warp. I replaced the hinges with heavy duty ones and have not had the issue again. Good luck.

Sam Riordan
Sam Riordan

Hi I'm a st George tech, the frame of the door that you keep bending back needs to be replaced. As the metal has weakened. This normaly happens when the door is dropped down too hard or someone has put to much weight on The door.

lascrs
lascrs

Thanks Ernest, Frank & Sam, Yes, I was suspicious of the hinges too but decided to reinforce the inner door with some alloy angle, so far it has worked. I took the inner skin off and fabricated the angle to sit inside the inner door, screwed it in place and I hope that has strengthened the door against warping.

I have just purchased the 92 litre oven with steam clean function and warnings in the manual not use oven cleaners. My question is this: if the steam clean does not remove everything, what do I use?

Linda38

Sorry Barbara, my oven didn't have the steam cleaning function so I can't help here. I think I have seen something about bicarb being a good oven cleaner, but best to look it up on the internet first to see how to make it.
