Very disappointed in product and company – Purchased this product, after three careful uses a small stick broke a piece of plastic inside the vac. Plastic was sucked in and caused damage to the engine. Well within warranty and Stihl refused to honour the warranty - cost to repair quoted is $50 less than to buy new. If this product can't handle a small stick then it is useless in the home… Read more

garden. I own a Stihl battery mower which I am very happy with, however will not be buying anything else made by Stihl on principle.

Total waste of money – After it’s first use thought it was great sucking up leaves after cutting back lily Pillys . On the second use I sucked up some mulch in which was to blame for breaking the plastic fan. When chatting to the sthil dealer they said it wasn’t covered as you had sucked up bark. Like come on what’s in every garden bed ! Should have just replaced my ryobi with another ryobi lasted longer than this junk. Utterly disappointed to say the least. Show details

Great Stihl Vacuum – Bought this today and have operated it for 5 hours straight using vacuum. Breaks eucalyptus leaves down to make them compostable. Bag is excellent but heavy when full weighing about 9kg. Unit itself is light and easy to use on a farm to clear leaf build up to reduce fire risk Volume reduction is about 10:1 No fan problems yet Oldie Show details

Was really impressed to start with – Only using it to vacuum. Was really impressed to start with. Vacc`d really well. That is up until the 6th or 7th time. The plastic fan is and broken. Wish I had wasted my money on the no name Chinese version instead.  Show details

Not Happy with it as a vacuum, Good as a blower – Has a plastic blade which is nearly disintegrating and is part of the motor. Put it down heavy once and the motor fell out of its location and jammed the blade. Had to disassemble and put the motor back in place. Show details

Junk – I've had this leaf blower for only a couple years and it has only been used a few times a year to blow leaves in the garden and driveway. Its stopped working now. I would have expected it to last much longer than it did. Of course its out of warrenty!  Show details

Seems to work very well – I also have a petrol one but this one is easier for the patio if I don't have petrol. I use this one to blow rather than vacuum. The petrol one is more mobile. Its ample strong and good quality. Might be too strong for an older person who may like a cheaper lighter machine.  Show details

how badly designed – this must be the worst investment I have ever made. used only twice since new,the fan disintergrated vacuuming up ivy leaves. could not remove the union nut as it was locked on.this had to be split to dismantle the machine to change to the blowing mode. when I started it up in the blowing mode the machine made a hell of a noise due to the damaged… Read more

and unbalanced fan. As an avid fan of stihl and a long time user I was very disappointed both with the product and after sales service. to replace the damaged fan is very costly almost as much of buying a new machine.as a retired design engineer I think this machine was drawn up by a first year apprentice on the back of a behind packet.

STIHL SHE 81 Electric Vacuum Shredder – Very good and powerfull, dragging a cable is annoying but you get used to it, problema is it dies a day after the warranty expires. Fan collapsed its plastic, needs to be metallic. Not impressed with service people attitude, not encouraging to continue doing business charged me $55 to tell me new fan was $160 maybe should have encouraged me to get a new machine and waved the $55.

Good – It's a good product. I 6ft-er would probably appreciate it more than a 5ft-er in terms of handling height. Extension wires can also be heavy to lug around. I have the BGE81 which is essentially the SHE81 without a vac. ============================================================== Extremely powerful. Took 2-3seconds of blow each way to clean my… Read more ·  1

patio of 20m sq. As this has to be done daily sometimes twice aday - it is a real timesaver.

Gum leaves however takes a fraction longer to lift off rough concrete driveway. Another fraction longer for blowing leaves off grass. Works best however on smooth or tiled surfaces.

No Fumes. Very impt.

Fairly light. Bulky. 2 yr warranty only. Extension wires are cumbersome. In hindsight I should have purchased cordless but ppl say these tend to lack/lose power. After one try on rough concrete and grass...I have limited its use to my tiled patio. I should really give the driveway and lawns another go but the extension wires are so heavy.
