Stressless Magic

The sample chair in the store was very comfortable to sit in. I couldn’t wait to get our chairs. Unfortunately the seat is as hard as a rock and I end up feeling sore after sitting in it. I’m going to have to get some foam or a cushion to sit on. It’s a lot of money for something that isn’t great. Probably wouldn’t recommend. Show details
Very, very disappointed. Expensive and VERY UNCOMFORTABLE! KEEP AWAY! If I could I would take it to the tip. We had the Reno for 20 years and it was the most comfortable piece of furniture we have ever owned. The new one is giving us back and shoulders pain. Things have definitely changed. Maybe because the company was sold and someone else owns… Read more
it. I think is China. They push some rubbish explanations on you and hope that we’re all stupid. From what I can see a lot of people are complaining about the same thing. Hopefully everyone will read the reviews before making a decision to buy.
Stressless chair HARD AS A BOARD – Bought a Stressless recliner from Paul Schatz for $2991, waited 3 months for it to arrive and it's HARD AS A BOARD and my butt goes numb after sitting in it for any length of time. The arch support is NOT enough either. Complete waist of way too much money! Paul Schatz return is 45% = $1310.18 RESTOCKING FEE. Paul Schatz's excuse for their… Read more
PREDITORY return policy is because they're "a high end furniture store".
Being a high end furniture store doesn't give you right to rip people off with a ridiculous restocking fee! How is this legal?!
They claim it cost a lot of money to clean a chair.... I've had my chairs professionally cleaned a few times and it was less than $100; it doesn't cost over $1300 to clean a chair!!

Extremely disappointed and unable to fix the problem – Update 3: Stressless have arranged for new cushions to be installed on the chair. Update 2: Due to the assembly process the upholsterer has advised the chair is unable to have any additional padding added to it. I have given it 6 months of use thinking it may puff out a bit but it is still flat & hard, still wrinkled, still doesn’t provide back… Read more
support, still stiff trying to rotate it and still very uncomfortable without adding a soft blanket to its surface. The upholsterer contacted Stressless at the time to advise it could not be mended or adjusted. The robotic manufacturing process has changed the chairs completely. The older ones I sat on in the store were plush and beautiful but not the one that I ordered & waited 5 months for. My advice to anyone purchasing a recliner is to try the one you intend to buy first as I selected the chair based on old stock, not what Stressless is churning out now.
Update: Stressless have contacted me and arranged for an experienced Apolsterer to examine the Mayfair chair. On his advice Stressless has arranged to have additional padding inserted to rectify the issues I have been having. Will update further but with regard to customer service Stressless have been very good.
After sitting in display recliners I purchased a recliner and foot stool valued at over $4,000. For a little over a month I have been sitting in this chair extremely sorry I bought it. It has little to no padding leaving the leather wrinkled, no lumbar support, no upper back support and is uncomfortable. I contacted the retailer and my option is to purchase cushions or foam wedges. This is not an acceptable solution. The chair I tried out in store has plenty of padding to give support. I have a sore back from this expensive mistake and I could not recommend the chair at all.

Causes pain in mid back. So not worth – Bought the Mayfair chair a few months ago. So uncomfortable. Helps my pre-existing lower back pain but the severe pain it causes to my mid back-thoracic make it useless. It t pushes my mid back and neck forward. I would not recommend spending so much money on this product when there is no guarantee or help when it causes pain. Show details

A very expensive, complete disappointment – I spent over an hour choosing a Stressless Chair with no assistance in the choice of chair to suit me from the retailer. I was surprised to read that Stressless trains it's retailers in matching a chair to a person's height, weight etc., as this was not my experience at all. The chairs are uncomfortable, do not provide lumbar or thoracic support… Read more
and despite loading them up with cushions on the seat and back (which look really bad), I still cannot sit in the chair for more than half an hour before experiencing severe discomfort . I also have problems with my feet touching the floor.
I contacted Stressless and was told my experience was not a warranty matter and I should take up my issue with the retailer. Tried that and was told they could consider re-padding and re-upholstering the chair, but couldn't guarantee that would fix my issues. The retailer then suggested I could try selling them secondhand. When I questioned the person about training provided to them by Stressless in assisting people to choose 'the right chair' I was told they don't receive training per sae only that the chairs come in small, medium and large. When purchasing the chairs I told the retailer I would need a bigger chair than mine for my adult son and he didn't ask me how tall he was or any other details, but allowed me to order a large size.
So disappointing and not good enough considering the thousands of dollars spent on a product which the manufacturer took seven months to deliver.

Good product but not for near beach - frame rusts – Very comfortable but beachside setting has meant rust bubbling in under 10 years. Disappointing in view of the price. So great product but probably not suitable for a salt sea air exposure site even if indoors. Show details
Not Worth The Money – The chair just isn't comfortable. Very little padding so I have to sit on a cushion. No back support, so you can't sit in it for very long. Sorry I bought it.

excess leather stretching – Our Aurora couches arrived May 11th looking beautiful, I was so pleased, within 4 days the leather had stretched to such a degree that the couches looked old. I complained and over the next 2 months 2 people came inspected and the leather expert took one couch away for repair and did the second one on site. Again within 4 days the leather… Read more
stretched, I contacted customer support to be told this is not a problem covered by wty and is normal. Had I known that this would be the appearance of the couches I never would have bought them.

Perfect – It took several months to arrive which was communicated to me at the start. Expensive - yes, worth every penny. Comfy, stylish, elegant. Show details
After sales care leaves a lot to be desired – The leather failed on my lounge, Stressless said the warranty for the leather was only 12 months, so it's my problem not their's, I can't believe their indifference. I would not recommend their products. Show details

Just perfect we love our stressless lounge suite – We bought the stressless suite when we moved into our new home and we really love it . It’s exceptionally good quality very well made stylish & so comfy. It was an expensive purchase but quality remains long after the price is forgotten, It will be with us a lifetime and get many comments from guests who visit . It’s certainly a 5***** purchase we had to wait a few months for delivery but well worth the wait :) Show details
Expensive, but brilliant! – We bought a Windsor two-seater recliner and a Mayfair single recliner with footstool in early 2014. Because we ordered a non-stock item, it took five months for the furniture to arrive but it was worth it. They are the most comfortable and stylish chairs I've ever sat in and the 'Paloma' leather seems to find the balance between durability and… Read more
softness that we were hoping for. The design is great for a smaller space, in contrast to a bulky sofa, although you need to allocate about 800 mm free space behind for the reclining action.
At the price, definitely a once-in-a-lifetime purchase!
Quality but not comfy – We replaced hubbies old ugly recliner which was too big but extremely comfy with an expensive stressless magic. It is a quality product without question but we are not finding it comfortable to relax in. It also looks great but if I had my time over I would not purchase it, after all a recliner is about relaxing in comfort, but this is far to… Read more
firm and ridged in design. Very difficult to sit in for long periods and just doesn't have the comfort of other uglier recliners. Attractive design Not comfortable for relaxation
