Blocked Drain - Poor Design – The Sub-Zero fridge that we paid 16k for has a drain system That gets blocked all to regularly and requires a two hour ritual to unblock. Shelves have to be removed - internal rear panels removed - other shelf supports removed and you have to use a scyrenge with a tiny hose to get access to the tiny opening of the drain that gets blocked and it’s… Read more
hit and miss to get it unblocked. Our fridge is spotless inside as only two of us in home and the most minute particle will Block it. When it gets blocked water runs out when you open door. Our friends have same fridge in Melbourne and when we told them about the every four month issue we have with ours they opened up and said they had to get service person out every three months as theirs was blocking up.

Nice looking but that's all – We purchased our Subzero from Winnings. It's had problems from the day it was installed from noise, rattling, and a grill that is out of alignment. 8 months later we are still trying to get it fixed. Parts were not ordered, months have past and now after calling again to follow up, I find out parts are now on back-order. Forget about them calling… Read more
you and following up. There is no customer service with this product. You have to constantly call them. Worst decision EVER buying a Subzero and if it was a normal size fridge and wasn't built in to our brand new kitchen, we'd request a refund and buy something else. It was such a big purchase for us and such a waste of money.
Disappointment – I am in my mid 60s so have had a few fridges in my life time. This fridge is such hard work. I have never had a technician to a fridge as often as I have had to this fridge. My old kelvinator went for years with no problems but this fridge has a problem at LEAST once a month. This is a gorgeous looking fridge and was the fridge of my dreams… Read more
which has sadly turned into a nightmare. Thankfully the service agents are awesome and provide terrific service but then I suppose they have had heaps of experience.
great service – its not many times when a company is great. I rang winning appliance who i purchased the fridge from which had stopped working last Saturday at 4pm. They some how got onto all general whitegoods and a technician came out 2 hrs later. I couldn't believe this service. The most embarrassing thing was he found the plug out of the wall which the… Read more
cleaner dislodged. We didnt lose our food and i had a beer with the darren who came out and thanked him personal on the spot. its true what you pay is what you get back, and with service we did. thanks thanks again
Save your money – We had problems with the ice maker initially. After a lengthy wait, the part finally arrived & technician finally came & fixed it. From day one the freezer door would have condensation on the outside in humid weather. We waited an eternity for the replacement door to arrive, when they came to install new door, which should have taken 1 hour, it… Read more
took between 5 & 6 hours with the entire unit switched off & no door. Consequently, contents of freezer were partly defrosted, therefore had to bin the lot. Next morning realised the fridge wasn’t cooling. Light was on & motor running, but not cooling. Therefore we had to bin contents of fridge also. We were never offered a replacement or a loan fridge to see us through, which is really slack considering the cost of the fridge. I couldn’t be more disappointed. It’s pathetic! A Fisher & paykel would still be working & probably have a much better back up service.
STEER CLEAR of SUB ZERO & SAVE YOUR MONEY.
Leaks water and the filter is so difficult to replace!! – This fridge is leaking water on the ice maker all the time, after that gets frozen and developed rust in the door after 5 years of being installed, in the fridge side the temperature is not the same on all the levels, must have problems with the fan too, besides makes a lot of noise and the energy consumption was a lot, I called sub-zero and still no answers. Very dissatisfied Show details
Don't waste your miney – The fridge maintains good temperature. Quiet most of time. Ice department blocks up a lot and you have to keep pulling ice tray out to unblock clumps of ice. After ten months of installation one light bulb has blown. Upon ringing sub zero questioning this she suggested I book in for a service which should be done each year. Then asked me to check… Read more
if water filter needs replacing and yes it does. After 10 months, unbelievable. So they booked me in for Monday service. Then rang and cancelled and rescheduled for Tuesday. Then rang and cancelled saying technician did not have part. Told her not good enough and miraculously he can now come and has a part. We had a maytag for twelve years, no service required ever. Not only do you pay huge dollars for this fridge the upkeep is money in their pocket. Don't bother!!!!!!!!!! It's not even sub zero who call to book a service for you.
It leaks refrigerant – Sub Zero was never able to repair and refuses to renew. So the unit we bought was delivered with a leak and it slowly looses refrigerant. They are willing to put new refrigerant but unwilling to fix it (after 4 years of use). The second problem with a failing sub zero is that the unit is part of your kitchen so its now a storage space and the new… Read more
refrigerator (Kelvinator) sits in the brease-way. If I would renew the kitchen again I would not put a Sub Zero because your stuck with it when it fails.
This Fridge Will Probably Outlast Me – It's like having an expensive car in the kitchen. It's big and tough, but it uses less energy than a 100 Watt lamp. It has two heavy duty compressors, one for the fridge and one for the freezer. When you open the door, bright lights come on and it is easy to find things. The easy-to-use controls are at the top and you can change the temperature… Read more · 2
and more. The fridge is fitted with an air filter which requires replacement, the filters are hard to find and you have to order them through the Australian distributor. When the motor is running, it is very quiet but the sound of the fridge is satisfying because it sounds like a great quality compressor. Extremely Reliable, Tough, Front Grille, Looks Appealing, Made In The USA, Energy Efficient Very Expensive, Heavy
Excellent – We love to entertain so the space is a real boon! Sub Zero unquestionably make the best quality refrigeration for residential use by a wide margin. So well designed and made with huge capacity there is no need to consider commercial units or put up with flimsy normal domestic or low power European models. We have had a great run with ours already… Read more · 3
nearly 18 years old but still looks and runs like new. If you can afford one you won't be sorry. At only 600mm deep it builds in flush to the kitchen cabinets but because of the width the capacity is the biggest you can buy in a single side by side frige unit. Two motors mean the refrigerator and freazer temperature control are completely separate so the frige stays relatively moist so veges and dairy don't dry out and we find taste trasfer is minimised. Energy use is down too but it recovers temperature quickly when you load it up. We find that food last longer and in better condition in our Sub Zero than we experience with other refrigerators. One of the best featrues is the dairy compartment which is air tight so the cheese does not dry out! Up until recently the product was not available in Australia so we had to deal dirrect with the US for service. You need to be dilligent and clean the condenser coil twice a year with the vacuum (simple enough with the compressor units at the top behind the grille). This is a quiet but not silent frige.
