Great kettle, pity about the stains – Looking for a compact kettle, I stumbled upon the 1 litre Maestro and was pleasantly surprised. While not as quiet as the Bella Aqua, it was better looking and I was pleased with the light weight and fast boiling action. However I had to descale this kettle every week to remove brown stains on the base. I believe Sunbeam have used thinner metal on the base to make the kettle lighter, and this is getting too hot and causing the base to stain inside. Item has since been returned, and I will stick with the Bella Aqua for the moment. Shame because I liked this kettle.

Purchased in at Harvey Norman for $49.

Screaming little titan is light weight and easy to use – This Sunbeam 1L Maestro kettle goes for function over looks and luxury. It is basic but have all the features one needs. Don't get me wrong. Aesthetically, it looks fine with an all brushed steel cylindrical body and flush base. But it really stands out in terms of practicality. It has a water level window by the handle and that handle is thick for such a small kettle. This makes for a really light and easy to handle kettle, second to none in the sub 1kg weight class amongst kettles on the market, let alone a metal one.

It has a large lip button. Push it down to boil and it pops back up when done. One button located on the handle that pops open the lid which almost goes edge to edge and 80+ degrees. No assistance required like the KitchenAid Pro Line needs to full open. There is no problem for a small / medium hand to reach in for cleaning if required.

Noise level if my only problem with this kettle. It is loud! Especially compared with my other kettle which is a KitchenAid Pro Line kettle. But at 20% of the cost, this is hardly a fair comparison. I find it too loud if you want to boil water on your work desk or in the same room - even a medium or large sized room, and attempt to have a zoom meeting at the same time. Perhaps try her bigger sister the Maestro 1.7L Quiet Shield instead. I don't have it so I am just going by its name, no db measurements on how much quieter it actually is.

This Sunbeam 1L Maestro is light weight and small size which make it unique and a no brainer for anyone who needs a small, light kettle and/or one who needs one that takes the least amount of precious bench space. It also makes for a fantastic travel kettle. I expect to see it at all small studio hotel rooms.

Purchased in at Harvey Norman for $59.

Perfect, compact kettle! – This kettle feels nice and light, even when filled to the max, and is easily picked up due the sturdiness of the handle. The button to open the lid works well and the lid closes nicely. Its quick to boil and contains enough to make several cups of tea, or fill a good sized cooking pot. It is a LOT quieter boiling than my last kettle and has a cool funky blue light when its switched on. It very compact so has a small footprint on my counter.

First class design! – Sydney water tastes good and the kettle water was also good of taste. The water level was easy to read and the kettle heated up in good time for that needy pot of tea. The kettle was easy to handle, light to lift and easy to fill.
