If you want a toaster that takes twice as long and enjoy having thin slices stuck in the toaster - this model is for you. This toaster was such an expensive disappointment. The riser ability to get out toast easily is around 25% less height than it should be, so you have to fish for your slices unless they are very big. Dont attempt to toast a… Read more
sandwich thin - you'll end up losing it right in the bowels of the toaster and never fully get it out. And, it takes forever to toast. A complete waste of money.
Toaster – I had a two slice crumpet toaster for years, the button to check the toast stopped working, it cooked crumpets on the top and not the back so they were nice and brown on the top. I bought a new four slice toaster, Sunbeam again because I was raised with that brand. It is no good for crumpets it cooks both sides like toast and the back ends up… Read more
burnt around the edges and the front not a nice brown colour, very disappointed. Would love to dispose of it but I gave may grand daughter my old one which worked.

Delighted surprise – After my previous bad experience with an expensive “prestige” label toaster I bought this much cheaper Sunbeam and have been delighted in every way. It reliably produces perfectly toasted slices, looks good and is easy to clean. No problems at all after 3 years of use. Highly recommended. Show details · 1

It's slow, but works well – We have had this toaster for a few months now, and it looks great, but lacks power in my opinion. The elements don't get any where near as red as other toasters we have had. My wife insisted on a white toaster even though it spends most of it's time in the cupboard, so this factor limited the choices. On the bench, it looks great with the… Read more · 1
contrasting dark grey and chrome levers and knobs, against a white (sea salt) and chrome body.
It feels very lightly built compared to the last toaster (and all others before it), but hopefully that's just the transition from electro-mechanical devices to electronics. There is probably just a small PCB inside where there used to be rheostats and the like. The "browning" control knobs have a nice positive feel about them, not loose or sloppy like they are on cheaper models. It has two very easy access crumb trays at the rear, which is pretty standard now I think. The 240 volt cord can only come out at the rear to ensure it does not unbalance the toaster (going under the body), but when you do this it is shorter than I would like at just 70 cm. long. The toaster measures 300mm wide, 200mm high and 285mm deep which is a nice average size.
What is very disappointing is that the toasting is uneven between each side of the bread. I placed two slices from the same loaf (out of the fridge) in slots second from the left and the far right, with the first control set on 8 and the other set on 6. This uses separate circuits to even up the current draw. The photos show the difference with setting 8 as the left photo, and 6 on the right. I have placed the two slices together side by side, and then flipped them both over. The slice set on level 8 is actually burnt on one side but very acceptable (just how I like it) on the other. The one set on 6 was more acceptable generally, but again uneven. Both slices took more than two minutes, but I know this would be a bit shorter if the bread was at room temperature before toasting. It's no different to watching and waiting for a kettle to get to the boil.
Buying electronic devices of any type now-days seems to be "hit and miss". You don't know what you've got until you use it. At around $120 including shipping, it's okay as long as it lasts for a couple of years (only 12 month warranty). It's definitely more form over function though! I think three and a half stars would very appropriate. It's now 11/07/23 and I have cause to update my review. I wouldn't have thought this would be the case but, it looks like the toaster needed time to "run in". It is now producing much more even results than it did initially. It's still slow compared to what we were used to, but I push the lever down for a second time and keep a close watch on the progress. After the second run, it is producing a nice even result, particularly on thick sliced bread. So there you have it, now 4 stars !
Piece of Junk lasted only 3 months - and Poor Service from Sunbeam – Toasts unevenly. 3 months after purchase, two slots stopped working. Contacted Sunbeam: "We'll replace it within 3-4 weeks". After 4 weeks "another 3-4 weeks". Replaced after 10 weeks - still toasts unevenly. Show details
Very ordinary – Even on the highest setting this toaster takes two goes to actually brown the bread. Any setting lower than “full” is totally ineffective. Looks good by that is about it. Very disappointed and a waste of $100. Show details
Doesn't do the job – WE have just bought this toaster and having paid $100 expected to get one that would/could toast our olive bread. It doesn't generate enough heat and we have to put the bread in twice on the maximum timing to get mildly toasted-brown toast. Show details
I returned it today, hopefully the different brand performs better.
Works Just Fine – It's hard to write a review about a toaster because there's a limited amount to say - it turns bread into toast. I guess that the marketing department would face a similar dilemma, so luckily they can talk about the 'Quick Check Function' which means lifting the bread out to check it without having to cancel it, or the 'Defrost' and 'Reheat'… Read more
functions which do exactly the same thing, but in the end a toaster is just a very simple kitchen appliance, and this one works just fine.
Thick bread, thin bread, crumpets, you name it - they all come out beautiful. We've had it for almost a year and there have been no issues so far, and there's no indication that will change any time soon.
Great while it lasted – Toaster blew up yesterday taking out most of the power to the house. Very unexpected for the time we have owned and the use it has had. Could be very dangerous Show details
Hello Anthea, Thank you for your lovely review, happy to hear you're loving your toaster.
Great Toaster! – Can’t fault this toaster. It looks great and is very practical with a handy defrost option and you can raise the toast to check on it without having to restart. Love it! Show details · 1
