We purchased a combination Sunbeam kettle and toaster from Myer in Macquarie, Sydney. Bought them in late October last year, for over $250, so currently about 4 months old and the silver coating on parts of the kettle, near the water gauge has… Read more
already shown some fine cracking and there is one piece that's fallen off....4 months! These items are so ridiculously expensive in shops generally and we only picked a very medium-priced set, however should we expect the machine to show wear signs and coating failures after four months? Our last kettle lasted 6 years with little marks or paint damage! More 'quality' products out in the market and would have expected better from Myer products and Sunbeam!
Follow-up · So as a follow up to my product review Sunbeam very quickly interacted with me and with very little delay supplied me (delivered to our house) a replacement kettle. They gave me the choice of choosing from three or four different models and after acknowledging our choice, the new unit arrived several days later. Their warranty staff communicated… Read more
Similar to other comments, the lid was so poorly design the handle broke off. No replacement can be found via the channels listed on Sunbeam website. Customer services copy paste the generic “We are sorry, we thrive for absolutely non existent product quality” without even attempting to offer a resolution. The coating started wearing away for us… Read more
after only a few months of use. We didn’t care much until the handle broke and you can no longer refill the kettle.
This is not a sustainable product. Shame on Sunbeam for contributing to landfill by producing subpar quality cr#p that barely last 2 years. The brand is now on our household blacklist.

Extremely Poor – These kettles are still sold in NZ and you can't get parts. Warranty and customer service is USELESS. Knob Comes away from lid so difficulty removing lid to fill kettle. Told to approach Amazon or ebay to try and find a part myself. Then they thank you for choosing Sunbeam. Never again will we ever choose Sunbeam.

Already broken, poor quality – I purchased this kettle around 2 years ago and it has already rusted through and started leaking through the handle into the electronics. Now the kettle randomly starts boiling by itself. My sister has the same kettle with the same issue, so seems like it might be a broader product fault/general poor quality. Company wouldn’t replace as outside… Read more
the warranty period but when i purchased a sunbeam I didn’t think I would already be replacing it after two years.

Great kettle until it wasn't – Kettle is great BUT the handle area and trim around water window deteriorated after less than 2 years use. Yes it has a warranty of 1 year but Sunbeam were unable to replace what is clearly a defective product that was under 2 years old when it started to deteriorate. Choice (magazine) state that a kettle has a life expectancy of 4 years. Will… Read more
just stick to the $30 cheap ones from Kmart next time.

Let down by poor design – Boils water, does it pretty quickly, looks good, different temperature settings. But the lid is really hard to open, requiring lots strength to pry it open (so not particularly safe). And two years on, the broken handle on the lid is the result. Surprisingly little was holding the handle to the lid. Still selling today for $130-150, which… Read more
makes a 2 year lifespan extremely poor value. Recommend against this model and those with the same design.

Stylish Product – Loved that’s it’s cordless, and all the different temperature I can set it to in a press of the bottom. I loved it so much I had to buy the matching toaster. Show details · 1
Nice but flawed – We had this kettle for almost three years. I am assigning only 3 stars, because of two problems. The paint around the water level gauge started to bubble and flake after a year. It was still fine to use, no leaks, only minor visual. Then recently the knob on the lid fractured off with only a bit more than normal pressure. The plastic was so narrow… Read more
here on the lid there was nothing solid enough to stick it back to. However in operation the kettle has a lot to like. The variable temperature setting always worked, the operation tones were pleasant and just loud enough. and it was moderately quiet. If you can trust your family to be gentle with the lid, then go for it.

Leaking after the first use. Very poor quality control! – Boiled it once then came back to a puddle on the bench. It leaked from under the handle. Obviously faulty construction so I’m taking it back for a refund. Don’t want to risk getting another faulty unit because I’m not the only one this has happened to. I thought sunbeam was a reliable brands I could trust, very disappointed. Show details

****READ THIS*****BEFORE BUYING THIS KETTLE - Leaking Into Electrical Base - Less than 12 Months Old – This kettle belongs to my 84 year old mother. Went to make her a cup of tea yesterday and the electrical base was covered in water! Turns out, there is leaking from the bottom of the kettle directly onto the base that is plugged into the mains. Both mum and I like the kettle for it's temp settings and ease of handling. Practically speaking, it is… Read more
a good kettle. There is a HUGE "BUT" here....water leaks into electrical components can be LIFE CHANGING! I am VERY disappointed for a $150 spend. I read on-line this is a fairly common problem. SHAME on you SUNBEAM. You should pull this from the market. In fact, I am so disgusted in this, I am contacting Product Safety Australia today in the hope they force you to recall, maybe then, after some financial pain (like my $150), you will lift your game. MY $18 Woolies kettle (a Sunbeam too) is still going strong after 6 years.

Love my kettle – At first it had new kettle taste, but since cleaning and more use no odd taste Very easy to determine water level and very quick at boiling. The outside of the kettle is not hot to touch, great that there is a button on the handle to open the lid- avoiding steam burns. Show details
foil not metal – for the price, it’s poor quality. shiny metal trims turn out to be shiny paper. now coming away. not what you’d expect from this price of kettle. out of warranty now but used for just over the 12 month warranty period. Show details
Quieter than expected – An upgrade. Previously owned white plastic cordless kettles, last one being a Sunbeam KE2350 so this fancy kettle is amazing. (I'm not loyal to any brand) Surprisingly quiet and fast boiling for a metal electric kettle. Handle is comfortable in hand. Lid can be warm to touch if removing carelessly. In regards to the water level other reviewers… Read more
commenting on unable to read - once used to using kettle for a while you don't read the water level gauge, I go by the weight of water in the kettle upon filling. I can quickly line up the kettle to deposit back onto cordless power base(found this to be an issue with some base designs on the market). Variable temperature so so handy. Currently four months old and still loving it!

Know better, choose better.
Absolutely gorgeous but lacking practicality – Purchased this attractive kettle a few days ago to match the Alinea Select toaster and have already returned it. Love the look and features such as the variable temperatures and the way the lights show the timing to boil and the rising temperature in 5 degree instalments. The Stop button is also a handy feature. However there are a few simple… Read more
practicalities that make this kettle unsuitable for many users and I hope Sunbeam does a redesign as I would be happy to purchase one without the following flaws- 1. It is noisy, genuinely noisy. Why produce a more expensive, quality kettle and not include quiet boil technology? Many of us have open plan kitchen family rooms and require a quieter device. Can not imagine what kettles other reviewers had previously when stating that this is a quiet kettle, it is not. 2. The water level is directly behind the handle so difficult to see while holding the handle to fill with water. 3. The minimum water level required is 0.75 litre and only visible when this is reached on the water level. For two full large mugs of hot water only 0.5 litre of water is required so constant wastage of power at each use. 4. The lid needs two hands to prise it off. It isn’t easy for anyone with weaker wrists or hands. Why not a button released flip lid? With soft close technology even?
Sadly I can not recommend this kettle, as much as I would like to. I have replaced it with the Sunbeam Cafe series quiet boil which isn’t as attractive in my kitchen setting but is is actually quiet with a minimum water level of 0.5 litres, the water level is visible on both sides, well away from the handle and it has a button release lid. It also has a range of temperatures, visible temperature, time left to boil and a keep warm function.
At this price, the Alinea Select should be better.
Quick and quiet – I love how fast and quiet that kettle is. It’s not like having a space rocket ready to take off in my kitchen anymore:) I must admit I was very ignorant assuming that you need a boiling water for everything. Now I’m obsessed with the right temperature. I wish temperature indication could start from 60 degrees as I could use it for my recipes with honey and general cooking. Thumbs up for design and overall quality! Show details
The best acquisition I had working at home! – As a green tea drinker, I really love the "green tea" function, now I am preparing my Matcha Green Tea at the right temperature and I don't have to wait forever for it to cool down! Yay! It also boils very fast, perfect for making quick tea between meetings. The countdown panel also helps a lot! The digital touch screen panel is great and the… Read more · 1
matte finish added a stylish look to my kitchen! I love the little beep sound it makes when it has finished boiling, super cool detail! I highly recommend it!!
The perfect kettle – Not only does this kettle look super stylish but it is extremely practical. As simple as the push of a button - every type of tea can be the correct temperature. Gone are the days of waiting for a peppermint tea to cool down! The kettle boils quickly and quietly and has has a very smooth pour. I have already recommended to all my friends! Show details · 1
Excellent features! – I was looking for a kettle & toaster that would bring me a great cost benefit and I am super happy with my choice! The kettle has excellent quality and features above average, not to mention the impeccable details. It has a great capacity, digital panel and allows temperature control between 80° and 100° - which helps a lot when adjusting the… Read more · 1
correct boiling time depending on the drink I choose. It's a very complete digital kettle that I'm loving to use every morning!
This kettle is quieter than some others I've had and the amazing thing is that kettle emits a sound that warns me as soon as the water is ready to be used!
I'm very happy with this purchase!
Achieves Style and Function in one! – We just recently added the Alinea Select Kettle to our bench and I am glad we did. As you can imagine with working from home the kettle is getting plenty of work out and it is doing it with ease. I love having the ability to select the temperature depending on if I am having a normal tea or going herbal. This kettle also boils extremely quickly… Read more · 1
and even does a little jingle to let you know it’s ready - which is super cute, though took me a couple of boils to remember it was the kettle and not the phone though. But by far my favourite thing about this kettle is how quiet it is. You really don’t realise how much you appreciate a quiet boiling kettle until you have one!
Its also super sleek and stylish and looks great on my kitchen bench with its matte black finish!
As simple as pressing a button!! – I’ve always liked glass kettles because I can see when the water is starting to get hot enough and I can stop it before it boils – I don’t enjoy burning my tongue while drinking tea. This new Sunbeam kettle is so amazing that I can choose from a variety of different temperature settings, so I don’t have to be constantly checking the water. It… Read more
also has a digital countdown that shows you the progress of your boiling – This is a great future for anxious people like me! The beeping sound is just what you need. Not too loud, not too quiet, so if you are around the kitchen you’ll know when the water is ready. I love it!!!
Great kettle with Temperature settings – Large capacity and steady pour. Love different temperature settings to suit teas and coffee. Great design and Easy touch buttons. Very quiet when boiling water. The lid wasn’t too easy to lift up/ put back on and cord is a little short. Show details
Stylish and quick to boil – Lightweight, clean pour, nicely balanced, stylish finish. The only negative is it's hard to see how much water is in the kettle as the gauge has small writing is is half hidden behind the handle. Show details
