Sunbeam Cool Touch 2 TA1210

Toaster jammed (no pun intended) – Not impressed. After a year's use the bread wouldn't stay down in the toaster unless I pushed very hard. Then the bread wouldn't stay down at all and the toaster jammed in one position which rendered the toaster useless. Also, the settings were too sensitive - the difference between 2 and 3 on the dial meant the difference between 'not done' and 'burnt'. Save your money and buy another model. Show details
Toaster caught on fire after few months of use! – This toaster is a fire hazard and is very dangerous. Do not buy this. It just caught on fire in our kitchen while toasting one slice of bread. We had to move it outside as the fire became so bad we could not contain it. I can't believe that Sunbeam continue to put this toaster on the market.
Terrific reliability and value for money – After reviewing all the many different brands on offer I went back to the tried and true Sunbeam. This is an elegant package for two slices.nit does everything the more expensive ones do, with minmum fuss and good outcomes. Recommended for those on a budget (aren't we all?) it has all the functions needed including a 'stop' button ...
A Basic Toaster – Seems to do what it is intended to, a good basic budget Toaster, It toasts faster than my old toaster fits crumpets and muffins and extra thick bread, It also has a great extra lift option that saves you burning your fingers on the metal as your removing the toast
dangerous toaster – I have only had it for a few days and have severely burnt my fingers and other parts of my hand several times. My old Sunbeam two-slice toaster was far better designed and took thicker slices and no burns suffered. I thought it was the new version of the my old two-slice toaster, but Sunbeam are apparently saving on design. attractive to look at I keep burning my fingers and hand on the chrome along the top.
A quatre of one side doesn't work – I bought one of these after buying (and returning) a Ronson yesterday which only toasted one side of all four slices. This one toasts 1 and 3/4 sides. a Quatre of one side doesn't light up at all. Just like the Ronson - no quality control at the point of manufacture. A quatre of one side doesn't work.
Perfect Crumpets! – I am very happy with my Sunbeam Toaster as it has nice wide slots perfect for cooking crumpets and with the 1 - 6 temperature control I can choose how brown I cook my toast. It even has a setting for defrost which is handy. With it's simple contour shape it is easily wiped clean and it has a tray at the bottom which just slides out to empty all the crumbs. Inexpensive
No Fuss Basic Toaster – I don't mind this toaster. It didn't cost much, doesn't have a large footprint and so far has worked well. The kids complain that it doesn't take really thick slices without have to pop the toast out with a knife (after turning off at the power point). I just flick them up with my finger as I don't need to use a knife. So... if you like really… Read more
thick toast bread it may not be the toaster for you. If you usually just have normal bread or crumpets it would suit. It only does two slices at once. A good basic toaster. If you like more bells and whistles you may like to give this one a pass. Cheap, small footprint, toasts ok Doesn't really take very thick slices
Terrible – i will not buy this brand again even though it's cheap. does not toast properly and hard to clean the toaster even though i emptied the crumb tray often. the leftover crumbs get stuck in the toaster and keeps burning and creating smoke everytime i toast. i had to always keep an eye on the toaster to make sure i'm not creating a fire hazard and… Read more
then finally i couldn't take it anymore so i threw it out - good riddance. toasts bread...somewhat sparks in the electrical wiring only after a few months of use. hard to clean the leftover crumbs.
Terrible – Surely they test these things before putting them on the market and nowhere in the manual does it say that when the toasting is correct on one side, reverse it to do the other. I will be returning this toaster to the shop for a refund so I can hopefully find a toaster that toasts evenly on both sides. Chose this toaster for the name and price.… Read more
Considered a Russell hobbs but it was much dearer. This toaster looked good and the dial on the front was easy to read. The dial goes from 1 to 6 so as the bread was a thin slice I thought I would try it on 3 and it almost caught fire. Tried another slice on 1 and it toasted a lovely medium brown on one side while the other was almost raw.
Terrible – The manual claims that it has "self centering" slots. However the guides are fixed and sloped. They don't move to centre the bread. Consequently the bread always seems to fall to one side. This means that toast is ALWAYS uneven, with one side perfect, and the other still white. To get it even I have to reverse the bread, and repeat the cycle on a… Read more
shorter time. I have become so frustrated with this time wasting "feature" that I have finally decided to throw it away, and buy a new one. Will be looking for a different brand! Attractive mid range price. Appearance and timer reliability is good. Repeats results consistently. Toasts unevenly for both white and wholemeal bread - one side OK, but the other only just warm. Have to turn toast over and cook it again to get both sides done evenly.
