Gets up to temperature fast. Real fast. Holds heat well even when adding large quantities. Best part is you can properly burn food and sauces in there and it just wipes out with a paper towel. Be careful not to use steel utensils though because it does scratch the coating. Wooden or plastic spoons are fine. You never need to use anything abrasive to clean it. Dishwasher safe as the bottom detaches. I use it as a steamer as well. Show details · 1
Wok is 1.5 years old and coating is blistering off clearly an adhesion fault not worn off not scratched only ever use plastic tools and wood. Maybe used once a month super light use. Think hard this product is weak and I personally would never purchase again. Sunbeam couldn’t care less about your money out of warranty by 5 months to bad. Show details
Don't risk it.... I've had this wok for just over two years. Use it about once a fortnight or so, suddenly noticed the heating element starting to show in the cooking area. (see photo) Emailed Sunbeam and was told that, although is was a manufacturing fault, they could not help me because the wok was out of warranty. Very poor service if you ask… Read more
me. I purchased this because of the great reviews and people using it for years. I believe the item should have lasted longer than a paltry 2 years. I therefore DO NOT recommend this wok. Purchase something different instead - I will....

Poor coating doesn’t last a year – Purchased one from Myer after I read all the good reviews about it, was only good for a few months. The so called diamondforce coating is so poor that it disappeared after only a few cooks. The exterior coating also start chipping. The food got stuck on the bottom and around it. Very frustrating considering it also occupies a large space in the kitchen. I ended up getting it in the bin after a few attempts to use it. Show details

Not hot enough - customer service says this is normal?? – Just tried to cook a stir fry in my new wok. It heated quickly, but even on full power it cycled on and off constantly. I tried cooking my entire stir fry in small separate batches but it just stewed everything, as every time it started to get hot enough to really sizzle it would cycle off again and cool off. Probably about 50% on then 50% off,… Read more
making it the equivalent of a 1200W wok. Just not hot enough. I called customer service and they said this was intentional. Extremely disappointed.

This is a HOT Wok – I've been skeptical of Electric Wok's since I first experimented with one as a 20 year old in an apartment and I produced some subpar Kan-Tong and eventually gave up on it. Fast forward almost 20 years and I am loving the Electric Wok! As a very amateur cooking enthusiast I have tried to get a Wok to work on my stove with little success. You… Read more
really need a Wok friendly cook top to get the heat right.
The DiamondForce ProWok gets hot quickly and in the right places. I'd say in 3-4 minutes you can start stir-frying with that very satisfying sizzle.
Pros: - Easy to clean, non stick surface - Temperature control is easy - Heating element is powerful enough to keep up when you throw in your cold ingredients. - It's huge. I make Dinner for 4 with enough for lunch the next day, and that's not even close to using it's full capacity. - Steam release/lock on the lid for steaming. I did steamed Gyoza and they came out great. - Height: the base plus the Wok put the working zone higher than it would be on a stove top. I've enjoyed this side benefit as it means I don't have to lean down/lurch over the Wok. I can stand up straighter and more comfortably.
Cons: - It's huge: Storage might be an issue in a smaller kitchen. - Steam tray: this gave the fantastic non-stick surface a few scratches when it was put in/removed from the wok. As a result I've stopped using the steaming functionality. - Difficult to toss. That satisfying Wok toss where you help things along by pushing the ingredients with whatever tool you are using can not be achieved. You can grab the Wok by the handles and still toss whatever you're cooking around but it takes 2 hands and a bit of strength to pull off. - Teflon. You are a bit restricted with what you use on the Wok due to the coating. Easy enough to get plastic/silicone tools but there are purists that will swear using plastics alters the flavor.
Overall I still think it's great. The cons are nuances and easily worked around.
Every thing I've cooked in the Wok has been spot on and it's ability to get very hot quickly and keep that heat is fantastic. Stir Frying has become a regular thanks to the Wok and I even banged up some non-stir fry meals when I wanted that quick, high heat or I need to really mix some things up.
It's made me do a 180 on my Electric Wok stance.
I've included pictures of my 10pm "I want Stir Fry" blitz. Sizzle Steak cut to size, Frozen Veg, condiments. I didn't even bother defrosting/blanching the vegetables. Straight in Frozen, while the noodles boiled and then all tossed together. Not bad for about 15 minutes of 'Wok'.
If you want to Stir Fry but your stove does not allow it. Give this a try.

Works well BUT lid handle is a burn risk – Disclosure: this product was sent to me as part of a review process. Let's talk about the biggest concern with this product. The large glass lid has a black plastic knob and a steam-vent ring. That ring is quite loose and moves freely which would be all good except that there isn't any seal or firm fit around the knob. When cooking, especially… Read more
steaming with the lid on and the food is generating a lot of steam, the steam exits the lid vent but it also leaks up around the knob. Result - that knob gets burning hot, as I discovered the first time steaming food and grabbing the knob to lift the lid. The knob burnt my hand, I dropped the lid immediately and was VERY lucky not to have dropped it off the wok and onto the kitchen floor. And lucky that I didn't suffer a bad burn. If one of my teenage kids had gone to lift the lid there was a very high chance they would have suffered a bad burn and/or a smashed lid. You don't expect a plastic lid handle on a cooking appliance to get burning hot because typically they don't. That is a serious safety risk and why I give this 2 stars. The other downside is that, in comparison to our old electric wok from a competitor brand, the material quality of this Sunbeam is definitely much lower. The quality of the plastics (feel and finish) is lower. The metal of the removable base is thinner and cheaper feeling. That does reflect in the RRP, being a lower price than the similar product from another major competitor brand.
Other aspects of the wok: It comes well packaged. You get the wok with detachable base, glass lid, steaming rack, temperature control plug and instruction manual. The non-stick coating feels durable and with a dozen or so uses so far, it's not showing any issues - we avoid using metal implements on any non-stick pan but a quick scaping with a metal spoon didn't cause any damage. Non-stick durability though, can't be assessed after a dozen uses - a long term review is needed to really judge it. We have used it to stir-fry, deep fry, slow cook, steam and oil-less cooking. This versatility is a great advantage. We are mostly happy with it's performance. It heats up quickly, although on-par with similar products. The heating control dial on the plug has a large range of adjustment and a red light to indicate that the element is on. The temperature modulation is not very sophisticated - it's on, or off. Lower temperature is managed by staying off for longer - this is typical of these appliances. As a result, on a low simmer you're sometimes left wondering if it's actually working, the time between flicking on is so long. The non-stick performance is good - I fried an egg without oil and it moved around freely but we normally fry with a bit of oil so the biggest advantage for us of the non-stick surface is the ease of cleaning. It's easy to clean the cooking surface and the base can be removed before cleaning by unlocking it from the pan via a dial underneath. We fully dunk it on the sink without any issues. We haven't put it in the dishwasher although it's apparently dishwasher safe. It is quite a large appliance which is great for cooking large meals but just be aware that it needs a big space to store it. If you are aware, and accepting of the issue with the lid knob getting hot, and a lower material quality then other brands, then this is a good product for it's type, with good versatility and portability.

Electric wok matches heat control of gas wok – WWM7000DF DiamondForce Professional Wok 7.5L Up until now, I have only ever used a wok on a gas stove. The idea of an electric wok intrigued me. What could be different, and why would you want to have an electric wok? I suppose because from what I know about woks, they work best on gas cooktops. So if you have an electric cooktop, the traditional… Read more
wok may not work as well. So, it seems the way around this issue is to use an electric wok and achieve that cooking-with-gas result.
The first thing I noticed about the Sunbeam WWM7000DF DiamondForce Professional Wok 7.5L is its size. The 7.5L makes it a big unit - much bigger than I am used to working with. But that has to be good news if you are using the wok for the family.
But you need to have a place to store it. It could be a bit big for an apartment unless you leave it out. But it’s perfect if you have a butler’s pantry or lots of appliance storage space.
The other thing I noticed was the coating of the inside of the wok - that’s the DiamondForce. It seems to be noticeably different from other non-stick surface coatings; it has shiny speckles as part of its surface.
According to Sunbeam’s product information, the coating is two times more durable than traditional non-stick cookware, thanks to the unique diamond particles infused coating, and you only have to use a small amount of oil.
From my experience with the wok, the non-stick coating works extremely well. I had no issues with sticking to the pan, and most times, you could wipe out the wok for cleaning.
The wok comes with a glass lid with a steam vent, a detachable temperature controller that slides in the wok via a probe, and it comes out easily with a trigger release. It also has a rack that sits in the wok for steaming.
The instruction book says you can use the wok for stir-frying, steaming or shallow frying. The temperature guide includes uses such as pan-frying and roasting. But I didn’t try these, and you probably regard those uses as secondary and not the main use of the wok.
I have used the wok for stir-frying and steaming.
Heat control is one of the main reasons woks are usually used with gas. With the Sunbeam electric wok heat control is one of its outstanding features.
The temperature controller allows setting from minimum to maximum via the medium setting, with combinations of adjustments capable all the way through.
The Sunbeam electric wok heats very fast - as you want it to. The user guide explains how it does that, and clearly, Sunbeam sees that as one of its features.
In terms of cooking a stir fry, the Sunbeam heats quickly, and the heat can be controlled quickly, mirroring the experience of a gas-heated wok. The end result is fast cooking of the meats and crisp vegetables.
The wok responds to desired heat changes quickly with an easy to read dial at the side of the wok. Although, I found the dial a bit hard to turn if you were using the wok in space where you didn’t have clear access to the dial.
Cooking stir-fry meals is a treat with this wok, but it might take time to get used to its size and depth as it can be a little hard to remove the cooked items to serve or if cooking in batches.
Steaming is also easy. You simply add water up to just below the rack you drop into the wok, take the heat to medium-high and place the glass cover on with or without the vent open. The vent opens or closes with a turn of the top handle.
As yet, I haven’t tried shallow or deep-frying, but the instructions outline how to do it.
The user guide makes much of the ease of cleaning the wok, and in practice, it is extremely easy. The wok detaches from its base with a twist of a spring-loaded mechanic. This means you can wash it with the dishes or place it in the dishwasher.
But as I said earlier, because of the non-stick surface coating - the DiamondForce, on most occasions, I just had to wipe out the wok with a paper towel and the like.
So, in summing up. The WWM7000DF DiamondForce Professional Wok 7.5L is excellent for cooking stir fry dishes. It has other uses, such as steaming and shallow frying. It heats up quickly, has good temperature control. It is big and is suitable for big families. It is easy to clean and maintain, but keep in mind; you need the space to store it.
Fantastic Electric Wok! – I’ve used the wok multiple times now and it has been consistently good. It heats up quickly, even quicker than the instructions suggest (they say 5 mins, but it gets smoking hot in 2.5 minutes). The entire surface of the wok is conductive so it heats evenly and quickly and doesn’t lose heat, even when cooking in larger batches. For me, most… Read more
importantly: The no-stick coating is easy to clean. Wait for it to cool, wipe out the excess sauce and then use a damp cloth with a bit of dishwasher liquid and rinse with warm water.
In terms of criticisms, just one, and it’s minor: When using the lid, you can set it to let steam out. When it’s set to that, I’ve found that the plastic handle can get a bit hot, so just something to be aware of.
I’ve attached some photos of a stir fry I made tonight. The beef was very tender and the veg were nice and crispy, but cooked properly. Overall, I’m very happy with the Sunbeam DiamondForce wok.
It really Woks! – When you cook with a full sized wok on a regular electric cooktop, it leaves very little space for any other saucepans, pots etc. Further, the round base of a real wok, doesn't sit well on the flat element of a ceramic or induction cooktop, resulting in hotspots & poor heat control. Stir frying requires, high temperatures, quick temperature… Read more
control/change & even heating. This is why Chinese restaurants always use gas stoves, with large, high temperature burners. My gas cooktop (Bosch 8 series) has a 'wok' element, but is too small to allow the use of a full size wok & any other saucepans, at the same time. The WWM7000DF wok is about the same size & shape as a full sized wok.
Having tried an electric frypan, & been totally frustrated when stir frying, I was unsure that the Sunbeam WWM7000DF wok would have the high heat capacity, temperature control & even heat distribution to replace my stovetop wok. Well, all I can say that I was totally surprised, in a good way, at how well the WWM7000DF performs! The thermostat gives precise & consistent temperature & the wok can reach very high temperatures, necessary for searing & sealing meat. There are no hotspots, as the heating elements are cast into the wok, this along with the very responsive thermostat temperature control makes it easy to sear your meat & onions & then quickly reduce the heat to add your vegetables & not burn them. Once the veggies are almost cooked you can then turn the heat up quickly & add your gravy mixture to thicken (use cornflour & water as a thickening agent, mixed with the flavorings). Once the gravy has thickened you can reduce the heat, to complete the dish. The 'Diamondforce' non stick coating works very well & allows you to use less oil. It also makes cleanup very easy, I just wipe out the interior with a paper towel, before removing the thermostat & base (using a twist knob underneath the wok) & wash the wok in soapy warm water. The base release knob is a bit fiddly to use, but gets a bit easier to use with practice.
I have also used the supplied steaming wire rack for steaming Dim Sims, Gow Gees, & steamed BBQ Pork buns. The vented glass lid is great, letting your mouth water, while watching the yum cha cooking! The 'Vent' control knob is a bit flimsy & not very smooth to turn, but works as expected.
So, I am very happy with the WWM7000DF wok & would recommend it for stir frying & steaming.
