Had for almost 1.5 years - best electric frypan ever – I've had this frypan for a year and a half. It's the best electric frypan I've ever had, by far. Like other electric frypans it has an on/off thermostat not variable power, so a gentle simmer does require some manual control. The best bits:- - the element covers the entire base not just the outside - it is high quality thick stainless steel, not… Read more ·  1

Teflon coated aluminium - and holds its temperature extremely well - cleaning is extremely easy and a scourer can be used - there is no Teflon coating that cracks and comes loose like on all other frypans - the handles are riveted like on the best quality cookware, not spot welded like rubbish alternatives

If you want a high quality electric frypan, this is it.

The worst electrical appliance I have ever owned – Over the years I have owned a number of Sunbeam electric frying pans, so when the previous one bit the dust I didn't think twice before buying another one. Big mistake. Huge! I'd previously cooked legs of lamb, stir fries, pancakes, pikelets etc for my family. It is impossible to cook anything in this thing, as it constantly turns itself off. And… Read more

no, it's not because it has reached the selected temperature. It just turns off and stays off for ages. When it does come back to life, it's only on for a few minutes. It is currently sitting in my house, preparing itself for a one way trip to the tip!

Don't know how I did without it! – I brought this two years ago and we use it two or three times a week. Fantastic for large family cooking and it's incredibly easy to clean. Even if stuff is burnt on, all you need to do is add water and heat through and it all wipes off. It's brilliant and now my extended family is buying them as well. Show details ·  1

It’s crap – I have always had sunbeam Ellie’s pans and I love them but the new ones they have out is crap I replace the first one as it was making a humming noise and was cold the hot it was not consistent in temperature so I return it then I got a new one to replace it and it does the same thing. Versatile and easy to clean – My last frypan was a non stick and I was constantly finding tiny black fragments from it in my food. I am thoroughly enjoying the Ellise stainless steel frypan. I cooked a casserole in it the other day. I was able to sear the meat and then slowly cook the casserole for hours producing a very tender and tasty meal. I recently roasted a chicken in… Read more

Bought 2 Sunbeam Ellise stainless Steel large electric pans – 1. No matter what I cook the food ALWAYS sticks so I use baking paper every time now. 2. I find the control too difficult to use, either too hot and then not cooking e.g. fluctuating all the time. Can't leave the pan to cook as I am having to stay and adjust all the time. I did not want to buy non-stick as the surfaces deteriorate and I am… Read more

worried about possible health ramifications. Mentioned to one of the sales ladies about the sticking and she said I shouldn't have bought the s/steel pans as everyone has the same problem. I thank Sunbeam to find out where there is info online re using the rack they both came with. The accompanying User Guide mentions baking cakes, but no instructions or recipes included. Can they be used for steaming as well? No idea on that either. Disappointed with lack of information on website and from Customer Service.

Thermostat won't maintain temp – Appears good quality in every other way, but thermostat is extremely frustrating. You cannot use pan as intended - turns off the moment it reaches temp, goes cools down, starts again. Show details

Very poor – Purchased the sunbeam ellise had nothing but problems, complained to sunbeam replaced cord still the frypan would stop and start finally you would have to have temperature turned to the highest point to finish cooking, noting that this frypan is only used to cook pancakes, then they replaced frypan with a new one exactly the same problem got so… Read more

annoyed wrote directly the the CEO of Sunbeam what a waste of time the CEO was to ignorant to reply to me even though 2 complaints were by email and one a direct letter to the CEO, my concern with this ignorance because the problems with this frypan seem to be electrical some innocent person may be electrocuted so if no reply from CEO this time i will report it to consumer affairs and the ACCC, surely any decent CEO would reply and ask about these problems, looking at feedback seems a lot of similar problems.

Humming Frypan and erratic thermostat . No Thanks – After being frustrated with non stick electric frypans that end up with the coating coming off prematurely I decided to buy this Sunbeam Elise Stainless steel model for significantly more money than Non Stick Models.. I thought I had finally found a solution as I drove home from Harvey Norman . Looks great after I unpacked it so I cleaned and… Read more

seasoned it as per instructions. Turned it on to a loud humming noise evident as the element heats up to the desired setting and then cuts off and stops cooking your food until the process starts over again with more humming and cooking until it stops again on and on . This is fine if you have three times as long as any other electric frypan to wait for dinner to cook . It is a complete fail on my end . I have read that other people have this incredibly frustrating thermostat experience. In all fairness after this tedious cooking process the food actually cooks well and I am happy with the end result. I will be requesting a refund however as I do not want a buzzing slow cooking electric frypan for my money.

Used this one in our Cafe - Excellent – We used one of solely for bacon in our busy cafe. We had problems with Non Stick Fry Pans & Bacon as it would leave a deposit that removed the non stick coating. Saturday Morning. It ran superbly and stood up to all the abuse we gave it, whilst I don't suggest you do this - it would go straight from working, Hot, to the the cold tap for a clean with a SS scrubber then straight back on the job!!! I always had a backup Pan but never needed it. I have one big regret however that being that I sold it with the business, and am still using something else at home. I need another Sunbeam. Update Its now Jan 2026, In 2016 I sold the business & retired, But I bought another Sunbeam SS Fry Pan for my home Its now 10 years old and in excellent working condition. We do a roast chicken dinner every Thursday night. The chook the vegies and the gravy are excellent every time. Cleaning it is a breeze. You can use a Stainless Steel Scouring pad and scrub it as hard as you like... no worries about removing a non stick coating it doesn't use them, nothing really sticks to Stainless Steel. I recommend this product.. Do yourself a favor and check them out.

Great pan- enjoyable to use – Great size for large meals. I use a little oil & this sticks a bit more than teflon, but not difficult to manage with good utensils.I put water in once I've finished cooking while hot, then can easily clean it later. Very satisfied. Show details

Use a bbq mat people – My rental has a pathetic stove, so to cook means cycling between an instant pot and an electric frypan. anything with enough water and you just have to keep stirring. But frying was a drama (I don't like using a lot of cooking oil). Then I grabbed a cheap bbq liner mat and cut it to size. Presto. Eternally non stick pan! And Dishwasher safe. I now love this pan. The increased, even cooking area (vs a regular electric frypan) is awesome. I drag this baby out constantly and it's going strong after 6 months of abuse.

THE best frypan i have ever bought – I have thrown away so many fry pans over the years. Went into an electrical store one day and the sales lady told me about the Stainless Steel frypan, specifically this one. One word is enough – In a word, this frypan is wonderful. I have always had Sunbeam frypans and this one tops them all. After cooking, just pour in some cold water and by the time you are ready to wash up, everything comes off easily with no need for hard scrubbing. It can go in the dishwasher as well but I don't bother as it is rather large. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. There is a 25 year guarantee on the stainless steel. Show details ·  2

Great for its size, not easy to wash – I have an older model of sunbeam fry pan it was amazing, easy to clean in and out. The model obviously had discontinued long time ago. But the design is… Read more

pretty bad, it has too many corners and narrow spaces where oil and food can stuck, including the bottom of the pan where there are many small ventilations and plastic legs. It is pretty heavy too. I am not disappointed with this model, but i wish sunbeam could come up with better design.

This frypan is a failure! – The thermostat on my stainless steel banquet frypan has never worked properly, I must start on no higher than 3 setting and finish cooking on "off" for quite some time. I cannot use olive oil at all as it sets off the fire alar ms. Very disappointed I n product and will not buy any more Sunbeam products. Which I have always bought for over 50years. A real lemon. Bought at Harvey Norman in 2017 and from first use it has been frustrating.  Show details

Very disappointed, not like my old Sunbeam – I bought this to replace my 25+ year old stainless steel Sunbeam electric frypan that had been the most used appliance in my kitchen nearly on a nightly basis. it would be perfect. How wrong I was. It was extremely heavy, it crackled quite loudly when it heated up, when it reached the set temperature and then the temperature dropped back it took too long to heat back up again which meant it took longer to cook anything. Then I went to wash it up and even after the first use the bottom just didn’t clean like a stainless steel product should. There was a stain from the food that just did not come off. I was so disappointed that I took it back. Sunbeam just don’t make them like trey used to!

Temperature probe problems – From the start we have had problems with the control probe. Too hot or too cool. The medium temperature is hard to work. We love the fact the pan gets very hot and is stainless but we like it hot when we want it to be hot. The sad thing is that we still have our Sunbeam fryer from the 1960s (late 69) and it still works perfectly but we needed the larger size. The difference in quality of the probe is staggering.  Show details

Great frypan – First thing i noticed was how evenly the heat was distributed because of the element shape and it also heats up fast. Like others have said the pan will discolour directly above the element but it does not effect performance in any way. This is what happens to stainless when it gets really hot. It is called stainless because it won't rust or… Read more ·  1

corrode not because it won't discolour. This pan cooks food really well due to the even heat distribution and i would recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality frypan. Another plus is you don't have to worry about non stick coating wearing out which is usually the reason you have to buy a new pan in the first place.

stained during seasoning stage – I followed the instructions for 'seasoning' the pan on page ten of the instruction manual that cam with the frypan and now it has a golden brown stain across the bottom. I don't mind but it has disfigured the looks of the pan and I am not sure if this is normal?
